**Reviewed by:** Shubham K. | R&D Senior Software Engineer eCOA, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Apache Geode?**

I like most about it that it is very scalable. At a time it can manage many numbers of transaction.
And it has high capability to process our data.

**What do you dislike about Apache Geode?**

Sometimes it's required deep understanding to do setup and configuration, also it doesn't have the advanced analytical capabilities of more specialised data.
Also sometimes it introduces latency into system by consuming resources.

**What problems is Apache Geode solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Apache Geode has been a game changer for us, addressing critical performcance and scalability issues. It's an tool for any organization needing real time data processing and high availability

  ### 2. Super consistent and reliable in-memory DB

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashutosh D. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Apache Geode?**

First of all, it's open-source which is a huge advantage over other alternatives. We started using it probably 2 years ago as per the client's demand and since then we have used Geode in multiple of our projects. It's really easy to configure Geode with a node application and with other backend frameworks as well (I used it with Spring boot and it was much easier than Node). It's very reliable and works so well in the security department.

**What do you dislike about Apache Geode?**

Honestly, it requires some improvements when it comes to speed. It's fast but not as fast as others.

**What problems is Apache Geode solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helping us in many ways, we are mainly using it as a primary in-memory DB for many of our projects. It has very nice tools for operational management and diagnostics.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** GAURAV JAIN P. | software analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Apache Geode?**

Apache Geode is a popular choice for real-time data processing and analytics due to its high performance, scalability, and ability to handle massive volumes of data with little delay. Apache Geode is its reliability and fault tolerance also.

**What do you dislike about Apache Geode?**

Although it is a robust and feature-rich data management system, this also implies that it can be more difficult to set up and configure than more straightforward options. The drawback of Apache Geode is that not all use cases will be optimally served by it. Despite the fact that it excels in high-performance, low-latency data processing and analytics, it might not be as well suited for applications that call for more complicated data processing or analysis

**What problems is Apache Geode solving and how is that benefiting you?**

potential flaw in Apache Geode is its complexity and this suggests that even while it is a powerful and feature-rich data management system, it may be more challenging to set up and configure than simpler alternatives. While Apache Geode is open-source software, some of its more advanced features require paid licenses or subscriptions.

  ### 17. Apache geode Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Apache Geode?**

the best feature of the apache geode is that it can handle thousands of concurrent transactions and keeps the data consistent. works fairly well for a distributed architecture with low latency and high concurrent processing.

**What do you dislike about Apache Geode?**

There is nothing as such that i don't like about the product.

**What problems is Apache Geode solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are a couple of benefits of using apache geode. The best capability is that it offers low latency when dealing with huge amounts of data and hence promotes high performance.

  ### 18. Distributed, in-memory database

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** YOGESH BG . | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2020

**What do you like best about Apache Geode?**

It's high performing in memory database, distributed architecture
It is more like mem cache but much advanced, it stores in a key value pair
Geode maintain the consistency of the data.
Though its in memory db it also provides fast persistence which can be used for light weight usage
There are many historical problems solved using geode with respect to having high performance
It is used in most of the government projects like indian railway system, chinese railway systems etc.
It uses dynamic replication and data partitioning techniques
Handles thousands of concurrent transactions
optimised caches

**What do you dislike about Apache Geode?**

There is not much to dislike about, its an open source project. now a days lot many projects are coming in this line and geode needs more publicity and more contribution towards additional features

**Recommendations to others considering Apache Geode:**

It is a very good in memory data base available, use this when performance is the key and you think that you can cache some data instead of accessing db all time.
It has a distributed architecture suiting to al current architectures. there are many projects in worlds where geode is used, it has power in achieving what is intended for. I don't recommend to use persistence feature of geode as it comes at the cost of disk speed

**What problems is Apache Geode solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used it as a in memory cache, we have lot of user details. Usually when user logins we need the user details until they logout. Multiple times we need user details, it was very poor design to access database every time we needed user data. We introduced geode to hold the user data and achieved good performance.

  ### 19. Distributed, in-memory database

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** YOGESH B. | Mr, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Apache Geode?**

It is one of the best solution exist for in memory data base, it is very powerful.
It has shared nothing architecture
It provides very low latency performance
Its a key value pair kind of data base
Used in many successful projects like Chinese railway systems, Indian railway systems. Compared to redis it provides best performance and its core is strong & stable.
It is highly concurrent data base system
It has regions similar to shards in other data bases
It can be horizontally scalable
It provides an UI where we can see the status of memory like visual vm

**What do you dislike about Apache Geode?**

There is nothing much to dislike, It has evolved much over a time. Its been used in many successful projects.

**Recommendations to others considering Apache Geode:**

Geode is one of the best solution exist for in memory data bases compared to Redis, couchbase, in mem etc., If we are able to tune right, it gives high performance, Use it as a in mem db, not as an persistent db. When we enable persistency it loses its power as always performance is controlled by disks and many other factors

**What problems is Apache Geode solving and how is that benefiting you?**

using geode as in memory data base to keep huge amount of data to improve the read latency
It is integrated with oracle data base to cache the user profiles, configurations to achieve high through put
It also provides persistency module
Highly improved rad performance
