## Ansys Mechanical Reviews
 ### 1. Advanced Interface, Reliable Results

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Francisco Javier R. | Professor, Higher Education, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Ansys Mechanical?**

I like that Ansys Mechanical offers an advanced interface, as well as a basic interface. The advanced interface allows experts to perform finite element simulations using code, which works excellently well. Additionally, the Ansys Mechanical Workbench interface offers a visual environment that is very useful for students and practicing engineers for mechanical design and analysis, allowing both a visual approach and the use of advanced programming in APDL. I also appreciate its good tutorials and documentation, which make it easy to get started for both beginners and advanced users with experience in finite element analysis.

**What do you dislike about Ansys Mechanical?**

What doesn't work so well is its price, which is somewhat high for industries and even for academia. Ansys Mechanical is limited by the size of the problem when its license is a student version, it only solves problems limited in size by the number of nodes or finite elements (approximately 100,000), which is very basic and useful in that case only for simple problems.

**What problems is Ansys Mechanical solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Ansys Mechanical to solve linear and nonlinear structural problems, thermal, vibration, and transient load issues in machines and structures.

 ### 2. Advanced Features with a Steep Price

**What do you like best about Ansys Mechanical?**

I really like the user interface of Ansys Workbench; it's pretty straightforward and user-friendly. It has very advanced features for almost any structural analysis, as well as a very user-friendly learning curve. The software supports various files for importing CAD data, which is quite useful. I can set up my analysis within steps and easily imply boundary conditions on my body. I have the tools to calculate stresses, including principal stress, and analyze my results by seeing the contours of different stress profiles, which helps me a lot.

**What do you dislike about Ansys Mechanical?**

I think it is very expensive for an individual person. At times, I felt some complex features needs learning, and sometimes it is quite difficult to understand certain tools. The initial setup was easy, you need to follow an installation guide. But setting up some on-demand integrations or additional add-ons requires certain knowledge.

**What problems is Ansys Mechanical solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Ansys Mechanical for structural analysis, solving digital problems efficiently. It offers advanced features for analysis and is user-friendly, helping me set up analyses easily and visualize stress profiles.

 ### 3. Powerful All-in-One FEA for Accurate, Efficient Simulation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Ansys Mechanical?**

Ansys mechanical is an all in one FEA tool which is extremely powerful. The software is pretty easy to use once you get your head around the user interface and allows for extremely accurate finite element simulations for a range of systems. The ability to do thermal, structural and optimization in one area is extremely helpful and allows me to continue my daily design work with extreme efficiency. I use ansys almost every day and it continues to be a great tool in my design work.

**What do you dislike about Ansys Mechanical?**

The initial implementation of the system can be very daunting as there are lots of complex parts to learn. The optimization tool is the most tricky to master as often the outcome is a rather messy blob if done incorrectly.

**What problems is Ansys Mechanical solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ansys is allowing me to validate varying design systems without the need for prototyping or small batch manufacturing of precision parts. It shows me where designs need some adjustments and it enables me to quickly test a wide range of systems.

 ### 4. Intuitive UI, Reliable Solutions

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** AJAY S. | CAE Engineer, Chemicals, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Ansys Mechanical?**

I really appreciate Ansys Mechanical for its great GUI and meshing capabilities. I like how its tree-like structure with a systematic step-by-step guide makes navigating the software easy. The automated meshing, along with sweep and hex-dominant meshing and feature-based meshing, minimizes user intervention while providing accurate results. Its solver is an industry standard, and now with Discovery and LS-DYNA, it offers fast and reliable solutions. The easy-to-use interface and guided workflows, along with being resourceful with tutorials, make it a preferred choice.

**What do you dislike about Ansys Mechanical?**

Ansys's ACT for automation has less adoption in industries due to its limited functionality and APIs. Sometimes, the solver throws errors that cannot be debugged easily, mostly due to Rigid Body motion, Contacts, or non-linear convergence failure. Large and complex geometries with bad geometries or surfaces become a challenge for meshing due to limited options for cleanup.

**What problems is Ansys Mechanical solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ansys Mechanical provides easy navigation with a step-by-step workflow, excellent GUI, and meshing capabilities. The automated meshing minimizes user intervention and CAD prep, offering accurate results, making simulation setup simple and efficient.

**What do you like best about Ansys Mechanical?**

The best thing about ANSYS Mechanical is the level of control it gives the user over the model. It makes solving convergence issues easier, even when dealing with all three types of non-linearities—material, geometric, and contact. Multiphysics simulations are also straightforward to perform. With the help of ANSYS ACT, I’m able to customize the workflow to fit specific needs. Additionally, ANSYS offers excellent customer support and comprehensive technical documentation, which adds great value to the overall user experience.

**What do you dislike about Ansys Mechanical?**

To accurately visualize the deformation of the structure during a prestressed mode superposition harmonic analysis, we currently need to use ANSYS APDL. It would be highly beneficial if this capability were also available directly within ANSYS Workbench.

**What problems is Ansys Mechanical solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are doing FEA Simulation in ANSYS to verify the structural strength of the Automobile suspension. We could be able to perform the simulation by considering all three non-linearities. And with the help of ACT we could be able to automate the tasks.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hari V. | Lead Design Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Ansys Mechanical?**

It is a very user friendly CAE tool.. I can focus more on the analysis rather than the tool itself. It can be used for a wide range of FEA analysis from Linear Static structural to Non Linear Dynamic analysis, Thermal analysis and CFD.

**What do you dislike about Ansys Mechanical?**

1) There is no Anti Aliasing option available within the tool...This makes the models look too bad.
2) I cannot rotate the model with selected pivot point unlike NX CAD or CATIA. This makes it hard to work with large models.

**What problems is Ansys Mechanical solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me in sizing the parts & optimizing the design..This also helps in saving cost by reducing unecessary material. I use it majorly for Static structual and Dynamic analysis. Rarely for thermal simulation to study temperature distribution.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** PRAWAL J. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Ansys Mechanical?**

Robustness, For non-linear problems especially with transient contact analysis, Ansys Mechanical needs minimum solver changes to detect moving contacting surfaces.
Ability to couple Ansys mechanical with other products such as Fluent, LS Dyna etc.

**What do you dislike about Ansys Mechanical?**

Although it has capability to couple Ansys mechanical with it's other productc but the procedure is bit lengthy and becomes further confusing to update variables or boundary conditions or initial conditions when any changes are made to either of the physics.
I found modeling of composite laminates is tedious with Ansys mechanical as well as computationally expensive. Since composite laminates can have hundreds of thin layers with different materials thus modeling itself is very tedious with and further each layer needs to solve for all degrees of freedom hence require very fine mesh making Ansys Mechanical further computationally expensive too.

**What problems is Ansys Mechanical solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used it for various unque and in-demand industry and research projects such as: Aneurysm in Arteries (Used UDF-UPF feature too with FSI, Biomedical industry), Modal anlaysis of Turbine impeller, Automobile contact switch dynamic contact analysis, Composite layup optimization in drones, Structural analysis of bridge with steel cables.

**What do you dislike about Ansys Mechanical?**

The thing that I disliked at first about ANSYS Mechanical was the Interface. But then, when I got familiar, it was not that bad of an interface. And one more thing that I feel is that ANSYS should be giving some suggestions while entering the values and suggestions about the possible next steps to improve the user experience. This option should be optional because not everyone needs this.

**What problems is Ansys Mechanical solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In ANSYS Mechanical, I'm able to do Stress analysis of many real-life problems by entering the material properties and the load values. By doing this, I'm able to portray these problems very well.

I am using Ansys mechanical for static analysis, and all three phases, from CAD modeling to Stress results, including meshing, can be carried out on the same platform. We have to first model in Siemens NX. Then after the meshing work is carried out on Altair Hypermesh software. The meshed model is then used in any other postprocessing application for analysis.

 ### 27. Ansys Mechanical is the Best for many FEA problems

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** TUNCAY K. | R&D Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Ansys Mechanical?**

You can code in Ansys Programming Design Language, APDL, and it is not so difficult. In academia, mostly it has been used, so it gives very reliable results. İt can solve complicated contact problems that other FEA programs may struggle.

**What do you dislike about Ansys Mechanical?**

Importing geometry data in step or iges formatı had problems in the Ansys 18.1. Sometimes, an assembly of a few parts cannot be imported as is in Solidworks. Drawing or modifying a geometry is way difficult so complicated geometries such as assemblies should be imported properly and could be modified more easily.

**What problems is Ansys Mechanical solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have solved multiphysical problems in Ansys Mechanical APDL interface. It was very practicle to use APDL in parametric problems only by shifting certain parameter and running the code on a text file by simply copying all code and pasting on ansys comment bar at once.
