**What do you like best about Anki?**

The UI/UX is straightforward and efficient once you understand it, but beginners may find it less intuitive than modern, guided learning tools. **What do you like best about Anki?**

I use Anki primarily for recalls and revisions, and it has substantially improved my study process. As a student, I find Anki invaluable as it allows me to track my revision progress, which was a daunting task before I started using it. The freedom to use Anki anytime and anywhere enhances my study efficiency significantly. I am particularly fond of Anki's clean and visually appealing user interface. The minimalist design helps me stay focused on my revisions without any distracting elements in the app. Anki's features are precisely what I needed; the app intelligently determines when to show each flashcard. This optimizes my study time by preventing redundant repetitions of information that I already know, ensuring that I focus on the areas that need improvement. The ability to use both Anki's web application and AnkiDroid mobile application seamlessly further adds to its utility and convenience.

I find Anki's learning curve to be challenging, making it less intuitive for new users. It would be beneficial if the app could better explain how features work within it, as well as simplify learning its features quickly. Additionally, the initial setup was somewhat tough to understand despite becoming easier once I got the hang of it.

**What do you like best about Anki?**

What I like about Anki is that it is really easy to use and configure. For someone like me, who can easily create a CSV file with a script or similar, it is great because Anki also allows to upload bulk data from files in a very versatile way.

**What do you dislike about Anki?**

The only thing I would improve is the notifications for AnkiDroid. I would like to receive notifications as soon as there are cards to review, but most of the time it does not notify me. So, I have made it a habit to constantly enter the application so I do not miss them.

**What problems is Anki solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wanted to learn memory systems (i.e., Major System, PAO...). and it was a pain to find a useful application to learn by using spaced repetition. There are a lot of applications out there, but none of them is so versatile and complete as Anki (as THE ORIGINAL Anki, important detail).
So, summarising, thanks to Anki I am creating lots of memory systems and practising them in a very, very easy way.

**What do you like best about Anki?**

What I like about Anki is that I can configure the back and front of the cards through CSS or WYSWYG style with a preview. I can also customize the flashcards on a large scale, not only can I add text, but I can include images, graphic information and audio in mp3 format; this is very favorable when creating and reviewing decks based on the method of comprehensible input and shadowing to learn a new language.
On the other hand, the option provided by Anki to install add-ons is wonderful; it allows me to use a great variety of online dictionaries and apply configurations and functions for each deck.

**What do you dislike about Anki?**

I have no objection to how Anki works; it is the tool I use the most when learning languages and new general information. Anki has a simple and excellent functionality.

**What problems is Anki solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Anki, I have eliminated the forgetting curve, and, therefore, I have increased my retention capacity. In addition, the functions offered by Anki make learning any information very dynamic and fun, especially when it comes to learning a complex language such as Chinese and Japanese, in my case.

Anki helps memorize and learn material for exams or school with ease. There are a variety of extensions and options for customizing your studying. I love my ability to switch from my laptop to my mobile app and continue studying wherever I am. Anki also offers a way to schedule a certain number of cards learned in a day to prevent cramming and promote long term learning.

I find that sometimes for a beginner, Anki can be difficult to understand and use. However, there are several ways to learn, and over time you are able to customize your studying as you see fit.

I like best that I can learn anything with this app. Furthermore, I like that this app is optimized for every platform and regularly improves through its open-source approach.

I hate most that the IOS app is not free and that its design differs much from the original desktop experience. And unfortunately, the app lacks a tutorial, so it's pretty challenging for beginners to set proper settings to get the most out of Anki.

One of the big challenges of reaching high effectivity in language study is the simple fact that you have to gather the materials to study before you begin your study session. ANKI solves that by having the material all ready for you. just push study! it allows you to access other users' content. It saves you so much time.

**What do you like best about Anki?**

The best part about Anki is that it repeats concepts until the user is confident in the material. The user can choose to repeat cards at different intervals, depending on what the user chooses. This feature is unique from competitors because Anki attempts to reinforce gaps in knowledge without repeating concepts the user fully understands.

**What do you dislike about Anki?**

The application has features that I am still trying to figure out what their purpose is. The settings seem so complicated, and it is not user-friendly. It isn't easy to tailor the decks to the user, so it would be more beneficial to have the ability to adjust the time a user spends on individual decks.

Increasing efficiency and productivity are two of the great benefits of using Anki. Anki has a mobile app and a computer application, so it is versatile to use whether the user sits at a desk or on the go.  Anki is also interactive, so it is a significant change from traditional textbook learning.

What I like best about this application is that it's very much easy to use and it's suitable for all students ranging from secondary to university, even in a call center where things change and you have to remeber. It allows me to stay on my A-game after studying a specific topic. Active memory at it's best.

What I dislike about this application is that it's not very pretty to look at and this can cause most students to deter from using thus though it comes with a lot of benefits.

Spaced repitition is a proven method for recalling vast amounts of information. Anki is by far the easiest way to implement this method of study, and it has a ton of very powerful tools and plugins to help you get to where you need to go.

There definitely is a learning curve, so it can be intimidating to get started. I would definitely recommend looking for pre-made decks from trustworthy sources to get you started.

Anki is for memorizing vast amounts of information and make sure you retain that information as best as you can. This is by far the most useful study tool that I've ever used.

Great programme for remembering things. Makes it very easy to enter a list of things to remember and then it tests you at regular intervals so you never forget.

There is nothing to dislike. It has a bit of a learning curve, but if you use it every day it soon becomes second nature. It does look old and not like a modern app, but that is not an issue.

It is the best option to memorize anything in the long term. The algorithm to perform reviews in certain periods is quite good and effective. It is compatible with HTML, LaTeX and Javascript, which allows you to personalize the created notes at will. The latter I consider essential, since my notes have a familiar and characteristic touch that facilitates understanding and memorization. There are also very useful internet plugins that can be used with this application

**What do you dislike about Anki?**

It is not easy to use from the beginning, and it is not very intuitive. A new user can get tired of the application quickly because they do not master their features very well or they can use it without knowing all the Anki functionalities. Another disadvantage is the impossibility of obtaining the application on an iOS device for free.

I totally recommend this application, it needs to be more recognized as we always find ourselves learning something new. Anki greatly facilitates this learning process and memorization.

he human mind works in such a way that it needs to check things periodically so as not to forget them. Anki is responsible for keeping what we always need in mind to use it later according to our needs. It is very useful academically and also in other areas of life. Anki allows me to edit notes using programming languages ​​and verify how other users have made their notes, thanks to the public decks sharing function. The notes are synchronized in my account to later review them on my smartphone and continue studying what I created.

Anki is the best free alternative to memorize relevant data, especially for the academic area. Anki synchronizes very well with mobile devices and I can always use it to review information that I need to keep in my long-term memory. When you know how to use it, you can take advantage of all its features. It also has the possibility to include plugins that make learning or memorizing the notes easier.

It is not easy to use or intuitive, and if you are a beginner, you miss out on many features. You need to have certain knowledge about codes and languages ​​to take advantage of many functions, such as javascript or HTML. Anki's appearance is not the most beautiful and can be improved.

I like that it doesn't just let me passively flip through cards like quizlet or other similar online flash card creators do. It tracks your progress and repeats cards to you based on how well you know them. There is a science behind this type of learning, which is why most medical students use Anki and love it.

**What do you dislike about Anki?**

I dislike that the format appears barren. In order to improve the aesthetic quality of the cards you have to learn a bit about the coding. That can take some time but once you get the hang of it your cards turn out decent looking.

Take the time to learn some of the coding. The quality improvement to your cards is worth it.

This is one of the best Step 1 study tools out there. But it's also great for study all of the organ systems in medical schools.

Really hard to get started and understand all of the variables that can be manipulated. Wish there was a built-in set up guide to make the learning curve less steep. Visualization of trends could be better.

Look up the start up guides on the subreddit and pros/cons of the various premade USMLE Step 1 decks (I recommend Lightyear or Zanki).

Memorizing everything you need to know to be a doctor / pass the boards. So many people swear by it so hoping it will get me the score I want if I use it everyday.

I love that Anki allows me to create a lot of flash cards and decks quickly to share with the students I tutor. Especially useful in language acquisition.

**What do you dislike about Anki?**

I've never been able to sync Anki on my PC with the app on my phone. I'm not sure what the issue is. But I feel like I'm missing out on the opportunity to make cards with more information easier than I can on my phone.

**Recommendations to others considering Anki:**

There is a lot of user generated content already available on the app. I really recommend that new and existing users do a few searches to look for decks that have already been created for topics they are interested in before creating their own.

We are getting more out of our tutoring sessions when students are able to commit more of the rote information to memory before they arrive.

**What do you like best about Anki?**

I love the special algorithm that spaces out your notecards based on your level of knowledge of that notecard. The spaced repetition is extremely key in helping you master whatever you are attempting to memorize and understand. I also enjoy how you are able to create different decks of cards and choose the number of days before the entire deck resets, etc. The ability to change the color and bold, underline, italicize is very helpful.

Wish the app had a more aesthetic appearance. It is a little bare bones right now.

Syncing between different devices allows me to memorize to memorize wherever I am - perfect for anytime that I have a few minutes to kill. Spaced Repetition learning was a new concept that has proven to be very effective. No alternative allows the flexibility or provides the effectiveness of Anki. Ability to use and design add-ons to the software is a large bonus that makes Anki a very complete product

Due to the number of features and user designed add ons, Anki is a bit intimidating at first and has a bit of a learning curve. However, Anki is 100% worth the time taken to learn for anyone needing a memorization tool

Use the Anki forums and reddit to find add ons and master all the helpful features Anki has to offer

In a field where a lot of background knowledge is required, I use Anki to solidify important details that I need to know and use it as an aid when learning new concepts.

**What do you like best about Anki?**

Came across the software through the book "Fluent Forever by Gabriel Wyner. Anki makes it very easy to create new cards, and you can create different types of cards. The most basic type is the traditional flash card. There's also a reverse card, where you're sometimes shown the front ("Chair") and sometimes the back ("Silla," Spanish for chair).

**What do you dislike about Anki?**

Anki is a mature product, but its interface can seem unintuitive at first. There is a learning curve to both the system and Anki, so if you're just starting out, you should probably find a ready-made pack of cards and use that for a while. You can then transition over to creating your own cards. 

**Recommendations to others considering Anki:**

 If you enjoy learning new things (or have to, for school), Anki is an invaluable piece of software, well worth the time it takes to master and use on a daily basis. Anki plugs into a free service called AnkiWeb, which hosts many ready-made shared card decks. There are some users who carefully created extensive decks of cards for learning anything from anatomy to Japanese, and it is very easy to download these packs. Creating one from scratch seemed like a lot of work, until I realized the key was to do it incrementally, one new datum at a time, as I learn. Anki is a mature product, but its interface can seem unintuitive at first. There is a learning curve to both the system and Anki, so if you're just starting out, you should probably find a ready-made pack of cards and use that for a while. You can then transition over to creating your own cards.

**What problems is Anki solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am learning a new language and have also introduced it many of my friends and co-workers. Trivia and language are the two most common uses, and flash cards are great at that. I first tried using Anki almost two years ago, when I decided to master the NATO phonetic alphabet (Alpha, Beta, Charlie, and so on). I used Anki's mobile companion, AnkiDroid, for most of my studying, and it was remarkably effective. Within a few short days I was able to spell out anything using the NATO alphabet, and I retained the knowledge for months. Recently, I came across something called the Janki Method, in which you use spaced repetition to learn anything, including computer programming, and not just limited sets of data.

It is certainly helping to compile information, categorize it better, and makes it easier to find when needed.

1. app lacks good material design
2. app is tough to manage when multiple decks have been created
3. learning is not concept based but cramming based

1. definitely try it , at least once
2. beware, do not create multiple decks, app will get unstable
3. limit the text used to make flashcards
4. always follow anki wiki, very helpful

1. keeping easy to forget information handy in anki and revising them on day to day basis ensures i dont forget them
2. performing well on health care industry, new innovations i come across i can feed in anki. Anki helps me recall the facts.

**What do you like best about Anki?**

Anki is a smart flash card system. It is primarily used by people to learn languages, but it can be used to memorize anything.

Anki is based on the principle of ‘spaced repetition'. This is the theory that our memory is made up of two parts: Short term and long term. 

By default all new information goes into short term memory, which can only hold it for a few days. But if it is reviewed often enough, then it will enter the long term memory, where it will stay for life, provided it is occasionally reviewed.

Anki uses a special calculation to test you on information just as your brain is about to forget it. By doing this, it allows information to move into your long-term memory.

The result is that you don’t waste time learning information, as Anki only shows it to you when you are about to forget. But you also never run the risk of not reviewing information enough, which could cause it to be forgotten.



Anki has a number of tools to help with memorizing information.

1) Multi-media:
You can insert all sorts of media into your flash cards, including photos, sounds and videos. The brain responds much better to images, so this can help greatly with learning.

2) Multi-sided cards
You can test yourself on your cards in normal order (e.g. Question, Answer) or reverse (Answer first to see if you can recall the question)

It’s even possible to have more than two sides.

For example, every word in Japanese can be written in 4 different ways (as the language has 4 different alphabets). So you may wish to have a five sided flash card that displays a word in all the different ways to help with learning the 4 different languages (The fifth side will have the word in English).

3) Text-to-speech
Anki can automatically read out the contents of your flash cards using an add-in module. It will read it out in a variety of accents. This is very useful for learning languages as it helps to get the pronunciation correct.

4) Free web syncing
You can sync your cards across multiple devices. The statistics of when the cards will be reviewed are also synced.

This is very useful if you study in different environments.

5) Great support
Anki has an excellent support system. There is both a support ticket service and user-to-user support.

6) Free
All of this is available for free, except the iOS version. It is slightly pricy at $20+ but it helps to cover the cost of the free web syncing server. (You can of course use the free web version on iOS).

7) Excellent modules
These help to enhance your cards and streamline the process of managing multiple cards.


**What do you dislike about Anki?**

Anki can be a little complicated to understand. It doesn’t help that the interface for web, PC and Mac is horribly ugly (Only the Android app looks nice. The iOS app is just about okay). However, there are plenty of videos on Youtube that explain everything.


**Recommendations to others considering Anki:**

Don’t let the ugly app or initially complicated nature put you off. I originally went for another program, but I was later kicking myself as it doesn’t have the power that Anki offers. 

**What problems is Anki solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Anki for a variety of business functions:
• Learning sales pitches
• Learning facts and statistics
• Learning interesting information in books or the news.

Knowing this information makes me more confident, as I don’t have to look it up or refer to notes.

Easy to make custom and interactive flashcards for studying. You can even add images or audio to the flashcards. This aids with studying things like language where pronunciation is important. You can also download pre-made decks. 

**What do you dislike about Anki?**

A way simply share the flashcards you make, maybe over social media, would be useful. 

**What problems is Anki solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You can import the flashcards you make to share with coworkers and then people can edit and change the cards as is helpful to them.

**What do you like best about Anki?**

Helpful because I can organize so much material into the cards and it shows me what I’ve learned less and less so I can focus on the material I don’t know as well. 

**What do you dislike about Anki?**

It can be very tedious to create. If you want the app you have to pay for it and to upload photos onto the flash cards. It’s good for teaching yourself something sporadically, but not as effective for cramming info. 

**What problems is Anki solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly use it for educational purposes. Such as studying for difficult exams, such as my medical school entrance exam (MCAT). It is also very helpful when trying to prepare for the board exams if you use it a little every day for boards prep.

Need to take time to read very long and sometimes confusing user-manual published online by creators. However, once the learning curve has been achieved, this software is absolutely worth it (and it is free).

This software can be applied to almost all areas of academics or recreation, especially language learning.

It has a very bland and boring layout. Has limited font and character styles.

Instead of having to physically write out flash cards, one can simply type them must faster and have them in a safe place for when they are needed.

In previous versions, I do not believe there was a way to print the work you did.

It is easily shareable - i.e. you can make a deck of cards and easily distribute it to others who can also use it.

The graphical user interface is pretty plain and not that aesthetically pleasing.

It is best used when those you collaborate with also use the same software. This way study tools (decks) can be shared/pooled.

I used Anki to study the Turkish language. I like that I can use pictures to remember the Turkish words (as opposed to using English words to prompt the Turkish equivalent), which helps greatly with memorization. 

**What do you dislike about Anki?**

It was tedious to upload the photos to Anki for the language deck. Also I thought the program itself could be more user-friendly and attractive.
