## Analytica Reviews
  ### 1. AN INCREDIBLE TOOL FOR TEACHING RISK ASSESSMENT and DECISION ANALYSIS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John E. | Adjunct Professor of Environmental Health, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Analytica?**

The graphical representation of risk and decision models, The availability of a wide variety of probability distributions. The ability to index, optimize, and perform importance analysis.

**What do you dislike about Analytica?**

The ONLY thing that I do not like about Analytica is that it is not available for MACs. MAC users must run Analytica on a virtual desktop and, as a result, do not continue using Analytica after completing our risk assessment course.

**What problems is Analytica solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been teaching risk assessment at Harvard for over 40 years. I have found Analytica incredibly useful in the classroom. The ability to represent complex problems graphically helps students keep the whole problem in mind without getting lost in the details of its elements. It fosters a natural focus on the relationships between the problem elements and allows students to easily explore alternative representations of the problem -- building skills in problem formulation. Ever since Max Henrion gave me a floppy disc with the first version of Analytica, I have been hooked.

  ### 19. Analytica is the best modeling software available

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert B. | Cybersecurity Risk Management Leader, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Analytica?**

There are three primary features that make Analytica amazing: influence diagram visual modeling, intelligent arrays, user defined functions, and integrated Monte Carlo simulation.

The influence diagram modeling allows modelers to build flexible model structures that reveal the conceptual framework for a model visually. Auditing, navigating, and modifying complex models becomes immediately accessible.

Intelligent Arrays allows programming with complex data structures in an intuitively apparent manner. This helps the modeler focus on easily managing numerical relationships without focusing too much on syntax required to keep track of dimensional relationships.

Users can build libraries of user defined functions that can be stored locally or across networks and then either called or embedded in any model that requires non-standard functions.

The Monte Carlo simulation runs simply and natively. By default it uses median Latin hypercube sampling that avoids much of the inherent instability of simple Monte Carlo.

There is no other modeling tool on the market that integrates these features seamlessly into one package.

**What do you dislike about Analytica?**

Publishing output from Analytica can be a little cumbersome. While results from models can be easily exported to external data structures (e.g. CSV, Excel) or screen-captured, ingesting that data or graphical results into report documents often requires a separate exercise altogether. This is not overly burdensome, though.

**What problems is Analytica solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used Analytics across a very broad array of commercial planning, capital allocation, portfolio analysis, marketing, engineering, and data analysis problems that required simulation modeling. Currently I am focused on cybersecurity risk quantification.

Compared to the other leading modeling tools like Excel, R, Python, or Julia, I spend about 1/4 to 1/2 the time required in those environments setting up my analysis and extending it as required. The flexible influence diagram structure makes model extension extraordinarily easy.
