Provides GUI for mapping between two different entities. Flexibility to write custom functions as well allows to use database. Can generate the code and customise if required. Provides flexibility to debug while doing the mapping. Most recommended tools for mapping solutions. It also the quickest way to finish mapping when compared to writing our own code or using other tools which are currently available in market. It provides all standard EDI format preloaded with in tools . Hence we do not have to spend time by configuring the EDI file. We as well can configure our own EDI file. We do not get much of solutions in internet and mapforce blogs. We have to deep dive in sometimes. And the tools generates code in Java. Once mapping is done, based on the complexity it gets hard for identifying the nodes in the diagram. Has to provide much more ways to solve. Can provide guides using Video format over text. Its more easy for people to follow Video or animation over reading a full page or PDF. The tool as well needs support for character encodings. Sometimes the EDI's may contain native local language keyboard characters and reading those may raise faults. The recommend to make arrangements like tool can also be made available as a online solution. By providing the credentials to license of user, one can login the cloud based solution from anywhere which will improve the productivity of user drastically. I have been using Altova MapForce since 6 years. It is very easy to use and customize as well. No need to write any code. Drag and Drop anyone can understand. Since it is built in java we can write some user-defined functions in java and plug in to this MapForce tool.

If we have more number of fields and there is some logic to be applied then the UI screen looks messy. It will be good to have a search button to find out particular function in the large mapping rules. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

A great user interface, where you can create automate almost all of your EDI and ETL(extract, transform, load) workflows in a visual way. We found that some complex mapping workflows are much easier to maintain using the GUI instead of coding them using conventional programming languages such as C#. You can even use external .Net libraries and no programming skills required. Automatic code generation is also an awesome feature, so we could compile the resulting code to an executable file and further use it in our automation workflows. Altova Mapforce has various builtin functions which make your life easier.

The drag and map functions is the best part of the tool. Talking about how we use it, it makes testing very easy for us as the mapper can access our cross-ref tables also.

I have worked on a lot of mapping tools earlier, but never have I came across a tool which can use the cross-ref tables in the desktop testing.

One always has to go into a testing environment or production where he/she can actually see the tables working.

Another important aspect is the help file. One of the best helps for any tool. It has helped me a lot as well as my customers. The help covers all questions.

Making the X12 config files accessible is also an added advantage that Altova has put in.

The only shortcoming which I found is the aesthetic. The mapping lines in the screen sometimes make it quite confusing to find the source and destination. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

When i used this tool , i was so excited in seeing mapping and its results based on the mapping.

It identifies error , if we did while mapping..Like , we can't vomit mandatory fields in case of EDI

It identifies error but doesn't describe the error .When I was a beginner, I felt hard to identify it.Now i can easily trace out it.
