"Stable, Enterprise-Ready OS with Quick Security Patches"
4/5
What do you like best about AlmaLinux OS?

I use AlmaLinux OS for my Zabbix 8.0 server. I appreciate its RHEL compatibility, easy installation, and stability. The enterprise-level stability and 10-year LTS support really stand out for me, along with the quick vulnerability patching. I experience fewer unexpected outages from updates, and security fixes are quickly delivered. The long-term support reduces the frequency of upgrades, which I find valuable. Additionally, the initial setup for Zabbix was easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AlmaLinux OS?

Lower workflow devops, and KB is not big at this moment Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best Linux Option—Runs Great in Daily Use"
5/5
What do you like best about AlmaLinux OS?

It’s the best option for Linux. i use it every day Everything runs great, and I haven’t had any major problems in daily use. It’s my favorite OS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AlmaLinux OS?

The community seems more focused on other Linux distros. Alma should probably be the main one, but it feels behind Ubuntu, so the support is less focused and I end up having to figure out more things on my own. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Eliminated Our RHEL Costs, Kept the Compatibility"
4/5
What do you like best about AlmaLinux OS?

I love AlmaLinux OS's 1:1 binary compatibility with RHEL, which is my absolute favorite feature. It eliminates compatibility errors with the RHEL-optimized U.S. tech stack that powers our entire business. This means I can run essential tools like AWS EC2, Azure AKS, Stripe, PayPal, QuickBooks, and CrowdStrike exactly as they're intended, with zero modifications or missing libraries. The initial setup is also overwhelmingly straightforward and low-effort, even for our 2-person lean IT team managing a hybrid AWS/Azure U.S. cloud/on-prem infrastructure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AlmaLinux OS?

No cross-U.S.-cloud template sync: We maintain separate custom AMIs for AWS and Azure (U.S. regions), with no way to sync configuration across platforms—doubling the maintenance work for our 2-person team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Stable Foundation for Reliable Server Management"
4.5/5
What do you like best about AlmaLinux OS?

I appreciate AlmaLinux OS for being a calm and dependable platform that I can trust to keep running without surprises. I mainly use it in environments where stability takes precedence over flashy features, such as managing servers and handling background services. It closely mirrors enterprise-level systems while remaining accessible and community-driven, making it great for both professional workloads and skill-building. I find it reliable for learning automation, scripting, and system tuning because it behaves consistently and encourages best practices. Its transparency and community-driven nature build trust and eliminate long-term uncertainty. I like that it lets me focus on my actual work by staying out of the way and providing a sense of control and predictability. The system performance is steady, resource usage is sensible, and updates are planned instead of disruptive. Knowing it is backed by a transparent, community-driven approach adds a layer of trust that's vital to me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AlmaLinux OS?

AlmaLinux OS feels like a dependable workhorse but could improve its user-friendliness. The emphasis on stability sometimes means I have to put extra effort into accessing newer packages, which slows down creative tasks. Certain configuration processes feel a bit old-school and could use clearer guidance or streamlined defaults. While reliable, the system's look and feel can be a bit plain, and some usability enhancements could make interactions more pleasant. Hardware compatibility with the latest devices can also be slow, leading to manual adjustments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Reliable, Enterprise-Grade OS with RHEL Compatibility"
4.5/5
What do you like best about AlmaLinux OS?

I find AlmaLinux OS to be a dependable operating system for servers and production workloads where stability is crucial. I appreciate that it's enterprise-grade and RHEL-compatible, giving me confidence in its long-term support, security updates, and reliability. It's great how straightforward and no-nonsense it is to work with, providing a clean, predictable Linux environment that makes system administration and troubleshooting easier. The documentation and community resources are helpful, and the OS integrates smoothly with existing Linux tools and workflows. Package management is reliable, updates are predictable, and most enterprise and open-source software works without extra tweaking. It feels well-supported with a strong community-driven approach, making it a stable and easy-to-manage choice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AlmaLinux OS?

One area where AlmaLinux OS could improve is in onboarding and everyday usability for newer users. The installation choices and post-install configuration can feel a bit unclear if you're not already familiar with RHEL-based systems. More guided setup steps, clearer defaults, and beginner-friendly documentation would make AlmaLinux easier to adopt, without taking away from the stability that experienced users rely on. The initial setup felt smooth, but some configuration steps required a bit of familiarity with Linux to feel confident about the choices. Overall, it was easy to set up once you know what you're doing, though a little more guidance would make the first experience even better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great alternative to Red Hat Enterprise Linux"
4.5/5
What do you like best about AlmaLinux OS?

When CentOS moved upstream of RHEL we needed to find another clone to use as our primary Linux distro. We liked Alma because it worked in the same way that classic CentOS did as a free distro. We couldn't afford to license RHEL for the couple dozen Linux hosts we have, and had used CentOS for years. Alma was a very strong alternative to CentOS. Managing Alma servers is the same as managing RHEL, CentOS, and Rocky servers. The knowledge learned on the other distros is totally transferrable to Alma. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AlmaLinux OS?

Unlike Rocky that aims to be bug for bug compliant with RHEL, Alma does choose to diverge from RHEL in some minor ways. However so far we have not seen any real issues from that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
