# Which ESB middleware minimizes custom development and reduces integration timelines?

Hello G2 users! Every vendor promises faster timelines but I'm trying to find out which Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) middleware actually minimizes custom development and reduces integration timelines based on real practitioner experience. The enterprise service bus category has a lot of options but these keep surfacing in the conversations I'm having:

Does the reusable asset library actually reduce timelines on subsequent integrations?

If you've moved from custom-built integrations to any of these, how much did it actually cut your timeline and where did hidden complexity show up?

The biggest reductions in integration timelines usually come from reusable connectors, pre-built templates, visual mapping tools, and strong governance features rather than the ESB itself. Platforms that standardize common integration patterns allow teams to spend less time on connectivity and more time on business logic.

That said, custom development rarely disappears entirely. The hidden complexity often shifts to data transformation, exception handling, security requirements, and legacy system quirks. The most effective ESB solutions are the ones that minimize repetitive integration work while still giving teams flexibility when unique requirements arise.
