Great Program **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Museums and Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2019 **What do you like best about Agisoft PhotoScan?** Agisoft is great for combining images to create 3D models, maps, DEMs, etc. It's extremely user-friendly and produces fantastic results. **What do you dislike about Agisoft PhotoScan?** One of the few downsides to Agisoft is that it often takes several hours or even a few days to process my images. **Recommendations to others considering Agisoft PhotoScan:** I highly recommend this program for photogrammetry purposes. Pursue the educational discount if you can as it is worth the savings. If you're new to photogrammetry don't be intimidated by the software, it is extremely easy to learn. **What problems is Agisoft PhotoScan solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Agisoft to generate 3D models of archaeological sites and historic buildings. This software is helping me create the most detailed archive possible of American history, much of which is rapidly disappearing. Agisoft allows me to easily share my models online or export them into programs like CAD and GIS for further analysis. ### 2. This software has many useful features to get the most out of your media to create very high quality point cloud and scan data. Also they have a feature for GPU acceleration which i find extremely useful for professional users who are trying to get the most out of the the program. **What do you dislike about Agisoft PhotoScan?** not very convenient to find resources for if you are in a jam- i always rely on looking up resources online if i am in a situation where i am stuck- with this program, I sometimes feel at ends and there should be more reliably information about dealing with different situations as they come up in the program. the software also needs a lot of ram. **What problems is Agisoft PhotoScan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Agisoft fits my needs for many different tasks, i do a lot of 3D animation as well as working with architecture and engineering firms and have found great use for it across many different aspects of my work. ### 3. Made it difficult when deep in modelling as steps needed to be retraced to find issue more often than not. **Recommendations to others considering Agisoft PhotoScan:** Make sure you take time to learn the products features and applications before working on large data sets **What problems is Agisoft PhotoScan solving and how is that benefiting you?** To see debris lost on a cliff face, provided great detail. Was able to show different losses at different times across a set time periods through merging photos and terrestrial laser scanning. ### 4. I have solved the principal problem in my company about the time for realized a detailed 3d model. This software is perfect for have 3d model (obj, fbx etc.) in few time, based from real photo. ### 10. This tab shows you what options you have next for the data you have. When creating 3D visualizations, I find this very useful as there are often many steps and it is easy to lose track of where I am in the process. **What do you dislike about Agisoft PhotoScan?** The only major downside to Agisoft is the insane processing time. This is the only software I've used for this kind of work so I'm not aware if anything exists that can process faster. I use a fairly powerful computer and projects still often take upwards of 20 hours to process. **Recommendations to others considering Agisoft PhotoScan:** It is ideal for creating 3D visualizations. The Agisoft website provides great tutorials and makes it easy to learn if you are just starting out. **What problems is Agisoft PhotoScan solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am using Agisoft to create 3D visualizations of real-world Geological sites for students to study. Agisoft makes it very easy to take existing photos and make a 3D representation that I will then incorporate into a VR world. ### 11. I also like that i don’t have to do a lot of the piecing of images together myself. I can basically upload my photos and let the machine do its thing. **What do you dislike about Agisoft PhotoScan?** I don’t like how sometimes when I am using photos of very flat open planes, I have to sometimes do a low quality cloud first before doing something higher quality. **What problems is Agisoft PhotoScan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Agisoft is helping me create 3D models of spaces and objects effortlessly. I can make historical objects that can be touched. ### 12. It capture the camera lens distortion than this info could be used in camera calibration processes. Great UI. It's easy to learn the buttons and workflow from the beginning. **What do you dislike about Agisoft PhotoScan?** Manual adjustment of world axis is complicated. Of course there is a tool for recognize special markers from capturing scene but it's better have another simple way to setup axis. Only Pro version has ability to setup custom markers to get better camera calibration result. It is good to have it in Standard version. **Recommendations to others considering Agisoft PhotoScan:** Standard version is enough for production according the price. It supports distributive camera calculations that speed up calculations in addition to Gpu calculations. The key to get good result is correct capture a scene. **What problems is Agisoft PhotoScan solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Agisoft PhotoScan for capture the Real world stuff, vehicles, people and convert it to 3d assets. ### 13.
