Affinity Designer is a one-time purchase, which is a huge relief as I don't have to pay monthly just to use a design tool. It's fast, has no bloat, opens quickly, and handles complex files without choking. The way it switches between vector and pixel models in the same file is really handy because I don’t have to jump between apps constantly. The performance is the best, and I also think the Studio Link feature is good; it lets me switch modes on the same file and canvas, everything is right there. I can click into Affinity Photo mode for raster edits and then switch back to Designer. The setup is also straightforward, with a simple download and install process, no account needed, and no activation servers being weird. I find it very versatile even for photo editing and vector graphics tasks. I like the ability to have multiple workspaces together, like managing two or three suites that handle all phases of the creative process. I often switch from a vector base, using vector brushes and then combining raster tools and effects that I wouldn't have on other platforms like Adobe Illustrator. Moreover, its business model is touching, so much so that I was among the first to use it and I remain faithfully with Affinity Designer. The initial installation is very easy, from Serif's website the download is immediate. For me, Affinity Designer is my gold standard even for managing PDFs and SVGs.
