It can connect to any ODBC Database and has been configured individually for 30 different database types including Oracle, DB2/LUW, DB2 z/OS, DB2/iSeries, MySQL, SQLServer, PostgreSQL. AQT has a rich and fully-featured query environment with query editor, query builder, table editor and data export. The Extended Edition has additional features for DBAs and Developers. But After using this AQT we can able to put all our data at one place and it supports different type of databases like Oracle, MySQL,PostgreSQL,MS Access and many more. One more thing irrepective of different sizes of dataset it helped me in fetching the data in short period of time with accurately and precisely. With the help of this tool I was able to migrate the data to different system with less efforts and helped in comparing the tables which are in different databases. ### 2. The tool works fine, sometimes it takes a while to load information but that's just because our data warehouse is that big and sometimes the connection is slow. **What problems is Advanced Query Tool solving and how is that benefiting you?** AQT helps me to find the right data in a short amount of time, allows me to write perfect and errorfree and efficient SQL queries and therefore makes my job as a data scientist easier. ### 4. There are many capabilities for point and click data analysis, queries creation, loading and exporting data. My favorites include 1) a point and click data loader that generates your create table statement when creating a new table and includes the ability to add column expressions to alter/clean your source data during the load, 2) a visual data explorer to view your sql result set and easily total, sort, format, and group it(grouping is done by dragging columns to the header and groups can easily be collapsed/expanded and show column subtotals);You can also freeze columns on the left to for easy viewing of wide result sets, copy any row or rows to excel or other tool including column headings and get totals by highlighting adjacent columns, 3) a robust visual query builder that has the ability to easily create sql including complex sub-queries, supports with clauses and can save your table relationships for re-use and 4) built in scripting to easily automate repetitive processes like regression testing. An advanced version also includes a base set of database administration tools. **What do you dislike about Advanced Query Tool?** The only thing that I dislike is the limits on identification of sql errors because of ODBC limitations. Query tools that use native drivers instead of ODBC for example sql developer can identify more detail about sql syntax errors. **What problems is Advanced Query Tool solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have used AQT extensively for analysis of data in preperation for architecting data warehouse solutions. The analysis capabilies especially interactive result set grouping has repeatedly helped me quickly analyze query results and idenfity patterns and inconsistencies. ### 6. Hands down it beats all other SQL tools, and its abilities to manage tables, views, table spaces, indexes and other objects in DB2 REALLY put it a cut above. Search around for SQL/database Tools for DB2 z/OS ans see what you find from anyone other than IBM - you wont find much at all. And IBM itself has nothing to compare. Even if used as a pure SQL query tool, its abilities to manipulate the data AFTER you retrieve it from the database are amazing. It also has one fo thebest interfaces with Excel, to output the data, that I have seen. No, I am not being paid to write this! We have over 300 people using AQT and wouldn't trade it for anything. **What do you dislike about Advanced Query Tool?** Sometimes the licensing, particularly the "registering" of the license with the vendor can be a little bit clunky. **Recommendations to others considering Advanced Query Tool:** Get it and use it! **What problems is Advanced Query Tool solving and how is that benefiting you?** Easy user access to data inside DB2 z/OS and Oracle databases, as well as database structural management for Admins. ### 7. I can filter the lists of tables/views/schemas, quickly see indexes, keys, constraints, columns, and data without wasting time. It performs all the tasks I need day to day without a lot of hassle and is very configurable. The author is quick to respond to and correct issues. **What do you dislike about Advanced Query Tool?** I wish it could save all open query windows with a single mouse click and then reopen all of them upon reopening the program. The data import can be slow for large datasets, so I often resort to BCP to perform those imports. **Recommendations to others considering Advanced Query Tool:** Its the most well thought out tool out there for day to day use. **What problems is Advanced Query Tool solving and how is that benefiting you?** My day to day SQL development. ### 8. Navigation is very intuitive and super fast. Best I ever experienced with DB2. The many text and SQL generation tools are a great help. The Compare feature is amazingly flexible. Apart from the task of setting Automatic Maintenance (like maintenance window, task scheduler) or extensive mainframe schema change, the tool brings all what I need for my day-to-day tasks, and that has been true for the last 15 years. And if you miss something, or if you spot a flaw in the display or catalog queries, you simply write a mail to the AQT team and they fix it within a few days, or you fix it yourself in the configuration file (which is open and easy to understand). I love the feature that opens a session with the database host to run DB2 commands. **What do you dislike about Advanced Query Tool?** Sometimes - especially after DBMS release changes - the DDL generator is not able to resolve new default values. But as mentioned, you can address it and it gets fixed quickly. I would love to have the DB2 Visual Explain graphical representation integrated into the tool. The existing Explain feature works fine, but with more complex SQL the many lines of output are hard to read. A picture would help. What I would like to have is a generator that generates text based on the result of an SQL. Of course, you can write this SQL yourself, but it would be nice to have a screen for it, like the Generate Text Screen. This one only allows generating text based on listing in the middle grid, which you can easily filter. But, generating text based on self-written, more complex SQL is currently not available in the tool (to my knowledge). For heavy Stored Procedure development the tool is not sophisticated enough when it comes to bind parameters, environment settings etc. If you develop light-weight SPs for administration or simple applications, the tool provides all you need. **Recommendations to others considering Advanced Query Tool:** For DB2 database administration I have not seen anything as intuitive, fast and easy to use as AQT. **What problems is Advanced Query Tool solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use AQT 98% of the time for my DB2 LUW DBA tasks, and this covers the full end-to-end service from data analysis, physical database design, implementation, monitoring, performance analysis, server migration. For DB2 z/OS I use AQT for all analysis work and the low- to mid-level DDL generation tasks. Navigation is very fast, you can run tasks in batch. AQT does not require any maintenance, and it comes with a very fair pricing. ### 9. AQT can connect to most of the RDBMS's and presents a familiar interface, so you don't have to worry about losing functionality between databases.
