Different templates are built in depedning on the country. These take into account the tax rules and automates muh of the process. For a global company with over 9,000 staff this alone makes it the tool of choice. The fact we have one global platform for payroll also enables us to align processes and procedures. It is a complex implementation for us which makes it sticky i.e. difficult to move away from. It is great that it is a stable and reliable platform but it lacks some of the customization features in newer platforms. I can't change the dashboard for example. Even in the new UI there is a lot of things to work on user experience and it's very difficult to use the app's tax calculator as it didn't provide me the correct information at any time.
