What do you like best about AccountEdge?

I value AccountEdge for its robust job-costing feature and stable desktop-first architecture. It handles multi-currency transactions cleanly for EU-wide client engagements, allowing us to track project-specific revenues and expenses in a single system. I also appreciate its solid job-costing functionality and the way it keeps general-ledger and invoicing data organized in one desktop system, reducing scattered spreadsheet files. The desktop-first design feels more secure for storing confidential client records compared to pure-cloud alternatives. The detailed job-costing module helps us allocate expenses, supplier bills, and revenues directly to individual client projects. What do you dislike about AccountEdge?

AccountEdge lacks native support for German VAT rules under UStG and GoBD-compliant immutable audit trails. It cannot generate transaction data formatted for DATEV exports, forcing us to manually re-format each dataset. Local-tax-specific invoice fields are missing, so we constantly apply manual corrections, adding considerable overhead and creating potential human-error risks for our client tax filings. The system's focus on US accounting standards requires extensive manual adjustments to meet German compliance obligations, significantly extending our implementation timeline and creating ongoing administrative burden.
