Technically, developers can use it to host any PHP site but SpinupWP is focused on making the WordPress experience the best. As one of their Twitter fans put it, SpinupWP “bridges the gap between scary self-hosting and expensive managed hosting.” Think of it like a control panel for servers, but modern & with a ton of helpful guidance along the way, much of it specific to hosting WordPress sites. Setting up and managing a server yourself can mean a lot of manual work for a developer. It’s effectively removed all the smoke and mirrors that pass for “managed hosting” with the big-box hosts. Instead, it feels like a hosting control panel built by people who actually understand what users want and need, and who designed it around that. **What do you dislike about SpinupWP?** I don’t love the fact that, at the end of the day, I’m mostly on my own when something goes sideways. But that’s also the thing: in more than a decade of use, only once has anything actually gone sideways. And when it did, the support team went well beyond their assigned responsibilities to help me get it resolved. The model is clearly built for people who understand that what you’re paying for with the big-box hosts is the 24/7 support. With SpinupWP, you’re not paying as much, so it’s reasonable that the expectation is different. In that sense, even this “dislike” feels a bit unfair. **What problems is SpinupWP solving and how is that benefiting you?** I can manage 30+ sites with almost no effort. As long as my servers are beefy enough, SpinupWP gives me a lot more control for about 1/10 of what it would cost to host those same 30 sites somewhere else. ### 2. It saved me the hassle of managed hosting while still giving me full control over my servers. I can choose any server I want and pay a price that works best for me, without needing deep knowledge of Linux or server management. **What do you dislike about SpinupWP?** I really can’t find much to complain about. Maybe the dashboard could offer more options, like the ability to add more workers for PHP or to control some of the PHP settings **What problems is SpinupWP solving and how is that benefiting you?** When you host your WordPress website, you usually have to choose between managed hosting and unmanaged hosting. Managed hosting often means the host controls a lot: they tell you what you should do and what you shouldn’t, and most of the time the price is high while the server still isn’t that powerful. Then, with any spike in users, your site can go down. With unmanaged hosting, the server is powerful and you own it, so you can do what you want with it. But good luck managing it: you need a lot of knowledge, and you have to keep a close eye on your server—what needs updating and what doesn’t, installing new versions of the kernel, PHP, and so on. SpinupWP helps me manage my unmanaged host. ### 3. SpinupWP is giving me the confidence to sysadmin more and more of my own WordPress hosting. All the big managed hosting players are charging an arm and leg for storage, bandwidth and visitors. With SpinupWP, I can choose the server size that fits my needs and only pay for what I actually need. **What do you dislike about SpinupWP?** The only thing keeping me from onboarding more client sites is the lack of a site-specific access role. I can assign additional users to each server with various levels of access, but cannot assign a user that has access to only a single site. Being able to do that would allow me to provide clients with access to the polished SpinupWP UI for managing backups and FTP access. **What problems is SpinupWP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Flexible hosting where I can pick the server size I use, giving me control of my infrastructure usage and cost, while still having some server management tools. ### 4. It's so easy to get setup and then manage because they have so much in context helps and documentation. It makes being responsible for your own server very manageable. **What do you dislike about SpinupWP?** The dislike isn't specifically with SpinupWP but with the fact that you are taking on the responsibility of managing your own server and that feeling of "what if?". However, the traditional structures for managing security are available to you and security updates are automatically applied by SpinupWP. Regular backups and managing multiple environments also helps. **What problems is SpinupWP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Makes self-managing WordPress much more obtainable. When you're evaluating the "What am I really getting" with a $2,000/month managed hosting contract, SpinupWP helps you get the same or better performance at a fraction of the cost. ### 5. Simple, Affordable, Effective. Great UI/UX with nice intuitive feedback. It handles the common WP management and deployment tasks well. Good documentation - I have only had to reach out once for additional support. And price - For the time it has saved me it's worth every penny. **What do you dislike about SpinupWP?** There is not a great deal to dislike. After researching the product to understand it's capability pre-purchase, I have not felt that it under delivered at all. **What problems is SpinupWP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Primarily it's made made the deployment and management of WP solutions to my preferred host a lot simpler. ### 6. After testing multiple management panel options, SpinupWP is the most robust and offers an excellent price-performance ratio. Furthermore, installing the system on the server and launching or migrating new instances between servers is very simple. Also noteworthy is the prompt and qualified response from the support team. Currently, this is the system on which we base our customer service. **What do you dislike about SpinupWP?** There are basic and recurring adjustments, such as adjusting the memory level for each instance, which must be done via SSH. Managing between instances and databases can be very tedious as you scale. However, I think these are minor issues that will be improved soon. **What problems is SpinupWP solving and how is that benefiting you?** The management and performance of WordPress and WooCommerce instances has been significantly optimized. Page and object cache management has been significantly optimized without burdening the instance with heavy plugins or excessive server configurations. ### 7. I've used SpinupWP multiple times since I moved to my own dedicated server on DigitalOcean. If ever I mess the server up, it's a simple website visit, chatbot and in less than 30 minutes, they sorted the issue out, returning my server to a useable state. Not only do they do a quick fix, but the team there will also go out of their way to explain what went wrong and how I can prevent that in the future, even giving suggestions of different ways to go about these tasks. If you are someone like me that wants to learn as well as knowing you have the support to get things back in place when they go wrong, then I can't recommend SpinupWP enough. **What do you dislike about SpinupWP?** The only thing I've found to slightly dislike is the articles around some of the terminology, but that's just because I didn't understand that at the time. **What problems is SpinupWP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Self developing a website is tricky especially when you have multiple plugins on a membership site like mine. SpinupWP has been there supporting us with a friendly team for when the server breaks and gives helpful advice on what the main issues are. ### 8. I can easily keep track of which sites have outdated plugins or core versions, run updates, and manage backups—all from a single dashboard. The UI is also incredibly intuitive. Even with 20+ sites, it's easy to navigate and doesn’t feel cluttered or overwhelming. I also appreciate how seamlessly it integrates with my existing backup storage solutions, like S3, which makes my overall workflow much smoother. I only really ever have to go in there once a week just to keep an eye on things, and rarely, if ever, do I need to do anything. Spinning up a new server is quick and painless, and the docs are excellent—detailed, easy to follow, and have so far answered every weird question I’ve had without needing to reach out to support. Questions I was sure would not already have an answer. Major points for that. **What do you dislike about SpinupWP?** There have been a few times where I had issues setting up a new site (certbot failure), but retrying usually fixes it. It would be less annoying if it failed faster, but sitting through it setting up the DB, and everything first before finding out the cert won't take is annoying. It is a very MINOR frustration mind you. One thing I'd put on a wishlist would be some type of built-in staging or development workflow. Something that would allow me to preview changes for clients and then push them live. Right now, that has to be handled manually. Additionally, the upsell for advanced monitoring feels a bit wrong. It feels like an artificial tier thrown in there for the sake of an upsell. I suppose there are some people (like myself) that are willing to live without it in order to save a couple bucks. While SpinupWP is excellent for developers and technically-minded agencies, I would hesitate to recommend it to beginners or designers (no offense). Without some server knowledge, the platform could be confusing. For its target audience, however, that’s not really a downside. **What problems is SpinupWP solving and how is that benefiting you?** SpinupWP solves the problem of managing multiple WordPress sites across self-hosted servers without needing to constantly SSH in, write scripts, or manually track updates, backups, and configurations. For someone like me who manages several client websites it acts as a time-saving, hassle-reducing layer. I bring my own servers, and am able to configure them as I like, however SpinupWP sitting on top makes things feel organized and secure. It gives me a quick and easy bird's eye view of what needs updating, ensures regular backups are running, and lets me handle all of it from a clean, centralized dashboard. That means less time doing repetitive sysadmin tasks and more time focusing on client work. ### 9. I push a button and fixes file permissions in my folders. I push a button and it updates linux packages or restarts nginx. I push a few buttons and a new site is spun up. It sets up SSL certs and optimizes server and db configs for me. When I had a bit of trouble with the redis cache, the customer support responded quickly and helped me solve my issue quickly. **What do you dislike about SpinupWP?** Nothing really!! Note that I went from Serverpilot, to RunCloud and SpinupWP and technically speaking, SpinupWP has been the most lean with quick security updates, with great recommendations and documentation. **What do you dislike about SpinupWP?** A bit of experience in servers/Linux is recommended, as I'd recommend to anyone using a server management panel. **What problems is SpinupWP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Manage multiple Wordpress sites on VPS servers; isolating them and doing some server updates that are important for security and speed.
