Anything I need to use a lot is easy to get to, and I can literally understand how to use a new feature without being told how. It's *that* intuitive. The most impressive thing about that is just the sheer variety of things it can do without ever having the leave the app. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** The only thing close to a dislike I have isn't the software, but the website. It's not obvious to me where to go to get info on things, it's not often linked to directly from within the app, and when I get there finally it's not always clear that my answer is on the page. Sometimes the articles feel like stubs or rely too much on a video. The videos are great but I am just lazy enough to want to quickly scan through a nicely formatted page. **What problems is ScreenPal solving and how is that benefiting you?** I do screencasts as a value-added educational benefit for individual clients, or to make archivable reference materials to illustrate ideas clearly for an employer. It's weirdly difficult to find any software for the purpose that has a good quality sharp image that matches what you see in the recording, and also doesn't make you rely on something else to finish the job. I don't think the price has ever changed for me for a yearly subscription and I've never been charged extra for hosting despite a dizzying number of videos, but I can go from idea to remote linking people to a polished video in minutes. Just tape, make quick edits, push a button, and it's live. I found it very helpful for the few explainers I was doing for clients at the time. Time went by and I retired... well sort of. I retained one client who really needed my help. He publishes an email newsletter that's published worldwide. He recently decided to publish a book and I became the project manager of a small team assembled to make that happen. The team is very talented but not particularly technical so I ended up answering a lot of questions about the process. I started by answering phone calls and progressed to writing explanatory emails to which I began attaching diagrams and screenshots. It began taking way much time, then I got the idea that an explainer video would be clearer for everyone... So I did a search for a service or app that would fill the bill. YIKES! there must be thousands out there now. Everything I found was too complicated, too expensive or just didn't appeal to me. Then, I ran across ScreenPal and found it was the rebrand of Screencast-O-Matic. Kind of like reconnecting with an old friend. So I took a look. I was immediately impressed with the look and feel of the GUI. Great redesign. Very easy to navigate. The price (tho I was looking for free) was easy on the budget. I know there's a free version but I wanted just a little more. I won't go into everything I like except to mention the ability to host on their servers or save as an MP4 and upload to You tube if that's what I want and how easy they make it to add password security to each video. I've gotten to the point that, when someone asks for clarifications I just pop open ScreenPal (it now lives on my toolbar so one, not two clicks ;-) ) and knock out a 30/60 second answer. The team loves it and I'm finding it kind of fun. After trying different options to get my team answers I'm going to say, "if a picture is worth a thousand words then a video is worth a thousand pictures! ### 9. I support nonprofit software users. I can create a quick video to share with my team when we are troubleshooting problems with our user's software. It saves so much time to be able to explain a technical problem with a quick video. Also, I can create videos for non-technical users that make the training very user friendly and easy to understand. I can easily share a link to the video. The customer support is timely and very helpful. If the video contains sensitive information, I can protect it with a password. I use the video editing tools to blur information that might be sensitive, and to clip parts of the video. The editing tools are easy to use. I especially appreciate the ability to record screen, webcam, or both simultaneously, which is great for instructional videos and online training. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** As a nonprofit employee who is always trying to save money, I'd use the free version if I could. I don't want to have to worry about if my background is distracting when creating videos OR if I want my background to go along with a theme this platform is perfect for that. I also love that I am able to replay a segment in the middle of a recording. This is helpful for me if I have made a mistake, need to take a pause because I forgot to mute my phone, or maybe I want to change my screen either way I love this playback feature. I love how you can generate a link to the recording to give to your learners or anyone who needs to watch the video. The editing tools are great. You can remove the cursor or camera if needed and when needed. I love how you can add music to your video on the platform. I don't have to spend time finding and uploading audio unless I desire to do so. I highly recommend educators use this when creating instructional videos. You will thank me later! The editing tools are the bomb99. Everything is easy and seamless to me. I appreciate the storyboard feature. I could go on and on about ScreenPal and how beneficial it is for my instructional videos. I will close with you can even control how much of the screen you want to record before recording. I work with other educators as a mentor and sometimes some of my mentees find it harder to use because they are unable to download it to their computer and run into tech issues. I not only used it to record, but also the editing features. And if I can figure out the editing features, anyone can! I cut portions of my videos, as well as blurred text for privacy. I have made many, many explanations for my online (as well as in person students), whether it was a lengthy, in-detail explanation about an assignment, or a quick explanation to the faculty in my department. Now my college has integrated ScreenPal into our LMS- which was very happy to see! Additionally, it is not difficult to add the captions to these videos, as is required. The AI used to detect the words has improved since I started using it. I typically have to correct less than 10 words in a video. I highly recommend this tool! **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** I have not found any downsides to ScreenPal. What don't I love?" I know how that sounds, but I'm serious. Before I rant, I'll give a TLDR: Use ScreenPal if you want... 1. Ease of Use 2. Great Customer Support 3. Amazing Features My confession: Before ScreenPal, for work, I would record in Teams and then use Clipchamp to edit. It was time consuming on account of their limited toolset and the fact you can't see the audio wavelengths so you had to watch and re-watch just to find silences and things like that. ScreenPal, even at its most basic level, out performed Camtasia and Clipchamp at screen recording and editing. With our Business Team subscription, I have Storyboards, access to hosting, AI features... The tool was already amazing and it just keeps getting better. I've raved so much about ScreenPal that multiple business units have approached me to learn about the amazing video editing software we have. It has become a key asset in content creation for internal users and client-facing materials. Our VP of Ops even told me that one of my videos was the best one he'd ever seen in the history of our company. I simply told him I could do it because I had ScreenPal - and so could he. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** Two things: 1. I'd like the option to annotate outside of the video recorder. 2. There has to be a little bit better support for 30 minute + videos. The desktop app is doing so much that it nearly crashes or corrupts files when they get too big. This saves me time and makes us more efficient at managing time for all staff ### 46. I love the new name, too. Screencast-O-Matic was a lot. Easier to recommend as ScreenPal. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** Nothing! They are always making updates and introducing new things. **What problems is ScreenPal solving and how is that benefiting you?** I need to quickly record videos. Sometimes, I want to share those videos and sometimes I do not. ScreenPal is nice because I have the flexibility to share when I want, but things are not shared by default. ### 47. I'm better off starting from scratch and typing captions in instead of editing what it "thought" I said - which is time-consuming and really unacceptable. Even with careful enunciation, and slow pacing, it is painfully bad. In this era of A.I., and with Google now owning ScreenPal, they MUST be able to do better?! A second, equally challenging situation is where the videos "live" once they are done. I have several videos that I have the link to, but I can't find them in my account. They aren't in my content area, and they aren't in my editing area....they are MIA but since I copied the link to them while they were uploading and being published, I have access to them. But honestly, this situation where your videos are hosted in different areas of the cloud platform is ridiculous...why should I have to look around to find my content? Other tools don't work like this and streamlining the storage and access should be a priority. I should have one dashboard, where all my content lives, and have access to everything in one spot....end of story. **What problems is ScreenPal solving and how is that benefiting you?** Creating video content quickly and easily. ### 48. There is even one of the icons in the corner of this text box that I could make and drop a video here. You can show the screen and add your face or not. Best way to show HOW to do something out there. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** Right now it doesn't integrate with Blackboard (ultra) to create an assignment using the questions ability. **What problems is ScreenPal solving and how is that benefiting you?** My Online courses are still very personal for the students as I use ScreenPal to show Students how to do everything. My class is very hands on computer work to make sure they can do their homework for me and all the other professors at my school. I'm able to show them where to click, what to click and how to turn everything in. I'm okay with putting my face on the screen, which most of my students appreciate that and they recognize me in public. ### 49. I've been using the service for over a decade and have produced many personal and company videos. There are several "best" features with ScreenPal there are several ways to produce videos for quick use or updatable, long term use. The "storyboard" and "script" processes make creating a simple or very complex video easy and most usefull. Being able to create segments of a video gives a producer room to create, modify and change the production in an on-going basis. Most important, the segments can be moved around and modified as needed. I usually write the script in segments, record the VO, then add music. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** My only complaint is that sometimes, when an update is ready, transferring "stock" media to the editor fails until the main program has updated. **What problems is ScreenPal solving and how is that benefiting you?** Video scripting and editing. The editor is awesome and encoding a final media is fast, clean, and compact. ### 50. Instead of text, a short video with the GIF intro feature seems way more intriguing a way to get attention. I think sending a video is also a way to say "I'm not just pitching my real estate media solution to you, I'm demonstrating the effectiveness of media right here!" ScreenPal is easy to use because it automatically attaches your video recording with an eye-catching window in the email message. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** Nothing to really complain about. But...there are features for tracking views of the video that are available in other implementations of video (attaching a link instead of the active video that launches from the email message).
