It's only $15/year - a steal of a deal. - Extremely user-friendly, especially the screen recorder - I love the drawing or annotation tools that are built-in. Competitors offer similar opportunities, but they are not as well organized or robust. - One-click uploading to YouTube, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. - There's a built-in speech-to-text feature that I hope to use more frequently in the future - to my knowledge, no competitor offers this feature. - There's a great Chrome extension that is easy to use and launch. If you are a Chrome browser user, I recommend getting the extension. It's a one-click process for launching a screen recording - extremely simple. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** I really don't have any major complaints. I suppose that free version doesn't offer any editing tools, that would be a nice free feature, but I understand - they've produced a great product and $15/year is reasonable. Another free feature that would be nice is access to computer audio and full screen recording. Competitors allow this, but this is a premium feature for Screencast O-Matic. **What problems is ScreenPal solving and how is that benefiting you?** Screen recordings for students, communication with students during eLearning or remote learning, flipped learning scenarios, directions for stations activities, students can also screen record their work or presentations and provide an audio voice-over ### 2. See below. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** Absolutely ZERO customer service. I have emailed them twice over a period of nearly TWO weeks and have received absolutely no response. I can't cancel my subscription now as it's too late. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. I understand that staffing has been reduced to due COVID but waiting nearly 2 weeks for a response to questions (that without these I can't use the system & subsequently record my course) is unacceptable. Choose another company that values its customers and will respond to your email enquiries. I wasn't able to edit videos without purchasing a year subscription, but at less than $20/year it is completely worth it! **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** The actual recording screen menu is a little bit tricky to navigate, especially when you're trying to edit out dead air space or tripping over your words. **Recommendations to others considering ScreenPal:** This program is usable on both a Mac and PC for recording your screen for presentations and also allows you to edit your videos for a nominal fee. Definitely worth it if you are looking for an easy way to record, edit and send out to employees or clients easily. It's also fairly user friendly and easy to navigate, so most anyone would be able to use it. **What problems is ScreenPal solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were looking for a way to record lunch n learns and be able to send them out company wide for those who were not able to attend live. I had always used a PC and powerpoint in the past. Using a Mac and Keynote has limited the programs I have been able to use. Screencast-O-Matic works great for the purpose! Also, the basic editing functionality makes it unnecessary to use other software if part of the recording needs to be removed. The configuration screen is extremely simple and intuitive, as well as the editing software that can be used after finishing the recording process. Another positive point is the integration with Google Drive, DropBox and Youtube, which speeds up the sending of files to these platforms and optimizes the workflow. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** I only use basic Screencast-O-Matic functions, so I have always been able to use the software correctly despite some minor problems. One problem encountered was the impossibility of recording my voice on one of the devices used, the software requires the use of a USB microphone and it should allow the internal microphone of the notebook to be used. **What problems is ScreenPal solving and how is that benefiting you?** Screencast-O-Matic is a software widely used in the area of Quality Assurance for its simplicity. When creating issue reports, it is necessary to demonstrate the necessary steps to arrive at a bug or usability problem. Often screenshots or text are not enough for the developer to understand the reported problem. AUDIO FROM COMPUTER DOESN'T WORK! They have a simple section that you add this patch so it works, but it didn't work. I paid for 3 years in advance because everything prior to that worked perfectly and I thought it was a great deal for the product. After making payment the audio part didn't work and I reached out multiple times to customer service. It has been 4 full days and still no response. I have requested refund still no response. The software was user friendly, but I needed the audio from the actual computer not the mic and it didn't work plus no customer service to response. Now I have to fill a dispute with my credit card. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** No customer service to fix their software bug which makes the software useless in my situation. I do both, depending on my needs. If I'm recording a short tutorial for a client about how to use a piece of software or manipulate data, I'll store the file at Screencast-O-Matic and just send the client the link to the file. No messing around with Dropbox or any other cloud repository (videos are usually too big to email as attachments). If I need to do further editing or embed the clip into a larger video, I'll download the clip to my hard drive. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** No downside so far. For occasional use, it works great. **Recommendations to others considering ScreenPal:** If you need to occasionally record screen actions, I can't think of an easier way than Screencast-O-Matic. **What problems is ScreenPal solving and how is that benefiting you?** This has saved me tons of time. I used to write down instructions for clients. I have some Agile CRM users, for instance, that sometimes need help on how to add custom fields or manipulate their contact data files. With Screencast-O-Matic I record myself as I show an example and talk them through the process. Before, I was performing a step, writing down detailed instructions, performing the next step, writing more instructions, until finished. The product is very easy to learn and use. I recorded many hours of online courses with Screencast-O-Matic. I could use it easily after a few tryout recording within an hour. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** I use it from mac and you can not record sound from computer in MacOS. Also it does not come with advanced audio or video editing tools. You can not filter some wavelengths (video) or frequencies(audio). Sound filtering and editing options are entry level. Video options are a little bit more but it is not an almigthy, professional-use-ready tool. **What problems is ScreenPal solving and how is that benefiting you?** You can copy, paste, cut, silence, narrate, caption, sketch over, zoom in/out the videos. I've primarily used it to create screen capture video tutorials. More recently, I've been using it to edit client video not created by me. I love the ease and simplicity of the app. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** I have NO complaints about this app. The only thing that is a snag is that (as far as I know) you can only launch the app from the website. Sometimes I just don't want to launch a browser. **Recommendations to others considering ScreenPal:** Screencast-O-Matic is a great tool if you are looking for the basics. **What problems is ScreenPal solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have a client who had hours of great video content with occasional mentions of dates which de-evergreen-ed the content. Because of the static nature of the visual, I was able to edit out these spoken words - sometimes less than a second! The added cloud storage provides a convenient way to create client specific videos I can share easily. I can pop a recording up for client approval, download it and then upload to the clients choice of hosting service. In addition to the convenience, the cloud storage provides a small level of privacy. It's great to have subscribers on YouTube, but I don't want them seeing my client work. The picture-in-picture feature is especially nice when I'm making a video to communicate or train a specific client. It makes the video personal. The editing features are easy to use. The cost is affordable. The only feature that I would like to see returned, that was removed in version 2, is the screen steps. I have asked these people for 2 to 3 years to fix this and I have numerous videos on my YT channel that are perminently screwed up because of this. I can't er-upload them because the views are established PLUS I shouldnt HAVE TO deal with thsi issue...I keep askign them and they keep giving me a fix and it KEEPS happening once I relax and start recording again. It's quick to get set up, has a pretty thorough preference and settings, the ability to narrate, webcam, and screencast at the same time, as well as click tracking. It's not the perfect product but it is nice to have something free and easy to use when I need to send a quick explainer video to colleagues and clients. **What do you dislike about ScreenPal?** The user interface is blocky and not very clean/minimalist. My MacBook immediately slows down (browser, desktop, etc) when the Screencast is active and it definitely isn't the most perfect product for everyone. It can stutter and glitch a little depending on how many tabs/screens are open, but that can be expected for a variety of products. I'm interested in seeing the recorded being changed a bit to make the UI a little less blocky, slow, and glitchy. **Recommendations to others considering ScreenPal:** I would recommend doing some searching and comparing Screencast to other products and seeing what works best for you. This definitely isn't perfect, but it is a great fix for a small business rather than forcing myself into unnecessary meetings.
