## PrestaShop Reviews
  ### 1. Extremely Flexible and Robust for eCommerce

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manuel M. | Director de Innovación en Sistemas, E-Learning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about PrestaShop?**

The tool has everything necessary to manage an online store.

The platform is free and can be installed on your own server without restrictions, which makes it quite flexible. It features robust options and a wide variety of third-party developments available, making it easy to find themes and plugins that perform different functions.

Additionally, the work stack with PHP allows for easily adding new functionalities as it incorporates a system to add processes to the existing system. This gives it excellent extensibility for more specialized business cases.

I also appreciate the ease of initial setup, as it includes test data that can be activated to use as an example.

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

Sometimes there are some issues with handling cookies for login in the administrative section, and also in handling data in large arrays, for example, in management and sending, where it can become a bit frustrating for the user.

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PrestaShop allows me to implement online stores in various industries without restrictions, it is free, flexible, and robust. It offers many configuration and integration options that enhance its functionalities, allowing the creation of custom functions and adapting to any installation.

  ### 2. PrestaShop: Powerful, But Documentation Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Romain M. | President, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2026

**What do you like best about PrestaShop?**

I appreciate the open-source aspect of PrestaShop, as well as its community noted for its support. The ease of integration and use is a great asset, whether for developers or for the clients and merchants who use it every day.

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

What could be improved is the technical documentation, which sometimes has gaps and makes certain integrations quite difficult. It could also rethink some parts of the user interface, which from time to time is a little strange to use.

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PrestaShop allows me to create e-commerce stores quickly for my clients, while maintaining full control over the data and source code. Its open-source nature facilitates integration with other software and benefits from a strong community for support.

  ### 3. Ideal for online stores

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rosa M. | Gestor de Ecommerce y Marketplaces, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2022

**What do you like best about PrestaShop?**

It is a simple CMS to use and you can find many templates that are a bit more professional, there are free and paid ones, but very few allow you to have a store with a professional design.

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

The least useful might be the modules, as some tend to be a bit expensive, and for configuring something a bit more advanced, there are no free modules; most are paid.

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a Prestashop store helps me because without knowing programming, you can have an online store in very little time and with a professional design. The basics to have a store ready to operate, which are shipping and payment methods, are easy to configure.

  ### 4. Highly Customizable, Multilingual Platform ideal for Large Catalogues

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Franco C. | Manager, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2026

**What do you like best about PrestaShop?**

Useful multilingual and multi-currency system built in. Highly customizable with a huge selection of external modules. Stable and professional e-commerce platform, one of the best when dealing with very large catalogues.

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

Some slowdowns in operations that can be defined as routine, never really resolved in the various releases. Some third party modules can interfere with others already installed and it can be difficult to understand where is the conflict. Always requires up-to-date and efficient SQL servers.

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prestashop allowed me to manage large catalogs with an efficient sales interface and a well-organized back office. It performed better than other systems in organizing large quantities of products.

  ### 5. Easy to install, customize, and use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Onjanirina R. | General Manager, Développeur PrestaShop, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2026

**What do you like best about PrestaShop?**

Ease of installation, customization, and use

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

Paid modules and themes of very poor quality

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PrestaShop allows the creation of fully customizable online stores

  ### 6. Perfect to start, complex to advance.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raúl C. | Head of Digital Analytics, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2025

**What do you like best about PrestaShop?**

It is an agile platform, with everything an ecommerce needs to start operating. There is a very large community that contributes new developments and functionalities. It has a great catalog of modules with all kinds of functionalities, which you purchase and are yours, not requiring periodic payments.

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

When your ecommerce starts to become very large, you may encounter significant limitations, even performance issues due to the accumulation of functionalities by modules.

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The most important problems I have encountered relate to a continuous loss of performance and loading times, when the accumulation of functionalities through additional modules starts to become very large.

  ### 7. Prestashop, a positive experience to e-commerce

The building of big eshop store

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

Prestashop is the most widespread open-source eCommerce software, and this means there is a community that helps and solves problems that would otherwise be more complicated.

  ### 9. Prestashop an option for already-established e-commerce businesses, not for new ones in the industry

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Reza T. | Head Editor, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2024

**What do you like best about PrestaShop?**

I like about its speed. There is one another e-commerce platfrom which is quite fast as Prestashop, and that's Bigcartel.com.

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

The pricing is quite high, especially its upsells. Other than hosting, you will need to buy a lot more plugins just to run your e-commerce business smoothly.

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prestashop is an e-commerce platform. It is app is also an open source, so anyone can use for free. The only thing you need is a hosting just like a hosting you need for your WordPress blog.
I used to have an e-commerce business back in 2020 when pandemic hit our physical business. So we tried first Shopify, and because of payment gateway issues we switched to Prestashop for the next 2 years.

  ### 10. A good CMS to start your ecommerce

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raúl S. | PPC Account Manager, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about PrestaShop?**

What I like the most is the wide variety of modules available to customize your ecommerce quite specifically.

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

I believe that when you start to reach a considerable size, it can fall short in some key aspects for scaling. I miss having more native integration with channels like Meta or Google Ads.

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a CMS that facilitates the management of e-commerce stores, capable of being customized with different payment gateways and being versatile in product listings.

**What do you like best about PrestaShop?**

Free. With a lot of experience and with 4 quite decent modules for SEO

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

Complex in many aspects. Creation of combinations, prices, taxes... for mass management you need auxiliary software.

To incorporate a blog into your ecommerce it is necessary to use a paid module.

It is an open source platform, so the economic investment is much lower. With this tool you can create almost any type of e-commerce as it is highly customizable using modules and templates or themes

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

Although it is very easy to create an e-commerce with PrestaShop, the large number of options and configurations make it more difficult than other alternatives such as Shopify, or even WordPress WooCommerce.

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed an online store that was easy to operate, low cost, and customizable depending on the type of products we sold. Prestashop meets those expectations

It took me a while to discover the method by which prestashop integrates its plugins under the hood. Not every payment gateway is available via the marketplace and some third party plugins require installation on the server.

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves my requirement for a user-friendly ecommerce solution.

The support of themes is low as compared to Shopify and woocommerce. Also, it runs on PHP-based backend which makes it more vernuable to the attacks and viruses.

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

Not everything can be perfect, what I don't like is the limited availability of free modules, the existing modules have quite high prices for someone who wants to start a business from 0 without sales

**Recommendations to others considering PrestaShop:**

maybe cheaper modules,

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2022

**What do you like best about PrestaShop?**

Besides being Free, it has an amazing range of modules to enhance your eCommerce storefront. The support that's given by private developers is very quick and helpful. Compared to most alternatives on the market, Prestashop is by far the best option out there, however it does depend in your business or website needs. For pure ecommerce and if you are looking for full features of a standard ecommerce site, Prestashop is your best bet.

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

Community support from forums is pretty decent however a lot of issues you have won't be easily fixed. You have to have some experience in programming or know someone that can help you there. Since its a free platform to run, you won't get high level of support to fix issues unless you are willing to pay for a developer support package.

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wordpress was a great solution until Prestashop started to gain a lot more modules in their marketplace. It has all the necessary eCommerce functionality built-in compared to WordPress. This was the biggest problem WordPress has, it is not a pure eCommerce platform and has a lot of issues with this, Prestashop fixed this for me. It is also relatively very cheap to run and operate even with buying modules compared to the other alternative, Magento.

For me Prestashop shop solves my issues:
1) Cheaper alternative as a pure eCommerce platform to run, and buy modules
2) Has a full set of eCommerce functionality out of the box with no module purchases
3) Easier to setup and install

  ### 33. The UI is brilliant

**What do you like best about PrestaShop?**

Being a seller, it's often hard to find websites that often get things done hassle free and prestashop does that better than anyone out there.

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

One downside is the lack of consumer awareness. I think prestashop needs to promote their brand more.

**Recommendations to others considering PrestaShop:**

Try to understand the fundementals first. Only after that should you try to completely start your product line

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy access to customer base, Planning and stock management, easy analytics

Prestashop is a shop-based CMS, a strong alternative to WordPress but more shop-oriented than the former, with a very robust and a back-office very easy to work with. Also, because security is an issue that matters, Prestashop seems to be robust and trustable; what is more, it is not as hard as WordPress to customize and add your very own functionalities.

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

Cons: not as many templates as you have for WordPress, which might be frustrating at the beginning.

**Recommendations to others considering PrestaShop:**

Have a try on this. You will probably not go back to WordPress or Joomla.

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WordPress is all about blogs, documents, something like Microsoft Word for the cloud but if you want to add an online shop you have to rely on a third-party solution. Well, Prestashop is not the case, it focuses on the shop, on the products and payment/shipment options, a more CRM-like approach to your business rather than just a CMS.

**What do you like best about PrestaShop?**

PrestaShop is a system that offers us a wide panel where different tools manage to connect us with customers to make sales or a much more efficient support. The system works in an attractive and interactive way to achieve sales between the user and us, I am happy because the tools of commerce or customer attraction are basic but incredible CRM, achieving that a single software allows us to expand our sales and attract customers.

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

It is personally innovative software new to us. We have no problem with this trading system, however we have not had any kind of inconvenience or problems in the function of the system, it has been very complete and we are happy because it has allowed us to improve our sales. And achieving a much simpler support is perfect.

**Recommendations to others considering PrestaShop:**

Definitely solving our main problem and managing to connect in a much faster way than other software is definitely a very different system and for that reason I recommend it since it offers very simple sales tools and manages to perform a more complete support.

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Previously we carried out a support in a basic way where by e-mails or by virtual means we managed to specify with the clients to make the sales as well as we managed to give technical support of the purchases and services acquired, however we decided to investigate some way where we could perform a CRM , customer acquisition or some interface where we can communicate with customers more quickly and with more customers at the same time and we find pet shop, a complete system that has allowed us to achieve our objectives with simple tools and to pass manually automating the process.

  ### 50. eCommerce platform to develop and run your online business.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melvin H. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2020

**What do you like best about PrestaShop?**

The only thing I like the absolute most about this site is its easy access. Creating an online shop sounds like a toddler's play on this platform. Before opening a new e-commerce website, I only had to go through their known pages and felt very secure while setting up my personalized online store. It's been fun for me. It's the best thing you don't need to have any technical or professional experience, just having very little information would lead you to the right place.

**What do you dislike about PrestaShop?**

The thing I took as a negative side of it is that it's for big business and big projects. Our company was attempting to make a small online store on PrestaShop. And we found out that PrestaShop is not a small platform. You need to have a huge amount of space to accommodate. You need to have an experienced hosting provider to make sure that you have the correct hosting package.

**What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My overall experience with this tool was good. I have been using PrestaShop for several years now and I don't think to turn to some other system. I appreciate the fact that it's easy to collaborate with clients in this CMS. Using email, I easily inform clients about the latest news, and the ability to stay connected with popular social media platforms encourages me to work with clients outside of the site.
