It’s vast array of photos that just don’t look like stock pictures is probably one of the biggest selling points. I also really like the AI that they are incorporating, which really helps them stand out from the crowd. **What do you dislike about JumpStory?** I will say that I’ve been in touch with the site about this and was promptly and effectively dealt with, but I wanted to see what I’d already downloaded and discovered I can’t. I was advised (and semi-discovered this myself), that by archiving and then downloading, you can replicate a download history. A prefect fix. **Recommendations to others considering JumpStory:** If you’re looking for an already (and growing library) of photos, vectors, videos and (soon to come) music, I can’t recommend JumpStory enough! **What problems is JumpStory solving and how is that benefiting you?** For work that I need to produce, it suits me perfectly and with the photo editing (including background removal) within the site, it really speeds up my workflow. ### 3. Photos You Won't See Elsewhere **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Mike P. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021 **What do you like best about JumpStory?** When searching for a graphic to use in a blog, social media, or other project, I always go to JumpStory first. While some of the choices are the same that you'll find on other photo download sites, many are unique to JumpStory. To avoid using the same graphics seen everywhere on the internet, JumpStory is the first option for me. Jumpstory also includes a facility to erase backgrounds, which I have used a few times. It's handy to have it right there on the site instead of downloading a photo and then using another program to erase the background. Obviously background erasing works best when there's a clear difference between what is to be kept and what is not, so the quality of the results depends on the original picture. I have not used the other editing tools, though I suppose in some cases they could be convenient. I've tried the crop tool, but it only allows cropping according to the aspect ratio. No way to trim the left side from a photo, for instance, without also trimming the top or bottom. One thing unique about Jumpstory is the personal assistant. I have not used this feature, but according to the site, you can describe what you're seeking or provide and example and then ask the JumpStory staff to find the image for you. **What do you dislike about JumpStory?** The indexing on JumpStory could be better. The site sometimes offers irrelevant graphics, that don't really apply to the query. Sometimes, if JumpStory can't find a good match, they seem to fill the results with random photos. Since the photos don't seem to be sorted by match relevance, you must scroll down quite a way to find an image that matches the query. They have added a text match screen that uses AI to improve the matching. I have used it a few times, without much success. Unlike some of the other online photo repositories, JumpStory seems to have a lower inventory. That means you won't always find what you need. Unless your image requirements are very common and generic, JumpStory can't be your only source, in my opinion. **What problems is JumpStory solving and how is that benefiting you?** I can offer graphics for my clients that are different from what might be available somewhere else like Pixabay. I see the same images from those other sites used over and over by various users on the internet, so I like it when the images I use for custom content is less likely to be widely used. I still use Pixabay, Depositphotos, and others, if I can't find what I need, but always look at JumpStory first. The images on Jumpstory are all available to use in commercial projects without attributions, which is useful for me. Some of my clients object to photo credits in their eBooks or blog posts. The site also offers videos, audio (mostly sound effects), vectors, illustrations, and icons. I haven't had a need for any of these resources. I'm almos always looking for photos. ### 7. They should reply within 24 hrs I think. I don't understand the need for this service as there are keywords for that. So basically it means describing what you need and waiting for another day for someone to search for you. **What do you dislike about JumpStory?** - Poor customer support. Only polite until trial period is over and also after a bad review. - Irrelevant search results (need to improve on the search engine). - Lack of very artistic photos at least within my search results. **Recommendations to others considering JumpStory:** Ask for longer trial period if you can't decide, but be aware that their politeness might end if you encounter problems like me. For some reason my subscription wasn't cancelled and when they charged me, I immediately asked to cancel and refund. Guess what - answer was no no no. They think that forcing me to pay for a service I am not going to use is a good idea for the business... Eventually after contacting the head of customer service I have received a refund to show their good will. At first I thought I was the only one to not be able to cancel subscription correctly and maybe it was my mistake. When I read other reviews with exact same story (cancelled online, but charged anyway, claiming that we didn't cancel at all) it seems that this is also their business model. Sad. **What problems is JumpStory solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use stock photos in our company and find quite many options to choose from. Their selection is ok, but the same photos can be found in all other stock photo marketplaces. **What do you dislike about JumpStory?** Their photos selection is small, generic, and low quality. You can find the same photos for a cheaper price on other sites like Envato Elements. Their customer service is the worst I have experienced in a while. I eventually cancelled which looked confirmed on the website, but then I was charged again. I received no cancellation email and when I went back to the website my account was still active. I went through this process again and experienced the same result. I finally reached out to Jumpstory customer support to explain the situation and they told me I should have received a cancellation email and needed that as proof that I had cancelled. Direct quote from their customer service rep, “I am sorry to inform you that If you didn't receive the confirmation email, it is your responsibility to reach out to us about it.”...that is what I was doing yet when I explained that I had not received a cancellation email they said there was nothing they could do and would not issue a refund. So they need a cancellation email as proof that the account was a cancelled, but I was never sent a cancellation email and the account remained active, so I cannot prove the account was cancelled. Impressed to see such variety and ease of use in this type of stock footage site. Good variety and a very warm and familiar feeling to all of the content. The support team is absolutely amazing. They create a value that you just cannot put a prize on qs a company. Very responsive and listening in on the needs of the customer. **What do you dislike about JumpStory?** In the start the engine did not really find images that well but it had learned and not it's working fine. They could brush up the UX a bit. I am not a big fan of the yellow on black palette but I guess that is just taste. The content can sometimes be a bit bland in certain smaller niches. **What problems is JumpStory solving and how is that benefiting you?** Spending a lot of time to find images and videos for the Scandinavian market. Jumpstory is Danish so they know their stuff from the get go and the engine is fast and a real time saver. The support is amazing and the go above and beyond if you have an issue. The personal assistant they include in the plans is really good and you can supply a reference image for them to find you 100 similar or suitable images to use in the same kit or design. I cannot stress the excellence of the support more, they really are that good. Fast, responsive and understanding of my needs. ### 10. One of them that happens to be my favorite is the "assistant" feature in which you can get folks to help you find appropriate photos. Combined with their AI recommendations engine that tells you what photos would return great results and their ability to match an image based on content you copy/paste into the appropriate field, it's a product that really is tough to beat. **What do you dislike about JumpStory?** You're not going to find every type of photo, but what you do find will certainly be unique. I've been extremely happy with my results. **Recommendations to others considering JumpStory:** You're not going to find such robust features elsewhere. They use "Archives" instead of "Lightboxes" but once you get used to that, you can start saving collections and then you're off to the races. I've been pleasantly surprised all the way through. They are shaping into what a stock company can and should offer. And, unlike free offerings like unsplash, these are actually licensed images, so you're not going to run into any problems. **What problems is JumpStory solving and how is that benefiting you?** Photos that don't look like stock imagery. Something different from the mainstream stock houses is a breath of fresh air. Helps not only with blog posts, but also print design, web design, and creating presentations. ### 11. They've also got delightful customer service: the person who followed me is very kind and helpful, and he is oriented to give me the best service I need. **What do you dislike about JumpStory?** In my opinion, $ 195/yearly is a bit expensive: I think it would be not affordable for freelances. Pictures are good quality, but they're a lot post-produced: sometimes I need original images and choose by myself filter and effect I want. **Recommendations to others considering JumpStory:** I think JumpStory is one of the best photo-stock websites on the web: it's useful when you search for pictures to put in websites you're building. One of the best features of Jumpstory is the possibility to filter your keyword results by the shape of the pictures: this allows you to find the exact size for your need. **What problems is JumpStory solving and how is that benefiting you?** Jumpstory made my research on original pictures for websites very easy. I found very representative images able to define such difficult concepts. ### 14. There are too many sub-standard pictures on here that make a simple search wayyy too long. I'd rather have 18 amazing pictures to choose from than 19 pages of mediocre stuff to review. **Recommendations to others considering JumpStory:** Can have the perfect asset, but you'll have to filter out a lot of stuff to find it - and you may even find the same shot free/cheaper elsewhere, as JS isn't exclusive. Also, I didn't even know that JS offered anything other than images - this isn't advertised or clearly indicated. I only use JumpStory when I can't find something on Unsplash or Pixabay (rarely) and before I go to a full pay-per-image site like Shutterstock or iStock. I'll never getting tired scrolling throug the nice shots! The diversity of the photos is great! Jumpstory seems always to be updated with the newest trends and things happening around us. Hereby we used Jumpstory for COVID-19 pictures who just appeared at their frontpage. There is enough pictures for everyone! Futhermore the photos doesnt feel "standard" but has a nice touch so we can have our own image in front of our costumers. The personal assistant is a great help when we need the right photo and cant find it online. **What do you dislike about JumpStory?** The amount of photos for my industry - its hard to get nice photos of scandinavian school-kids these days! Its a jungle! You need to know what you are seaching for before visiting the page. **Recommendations to others considering JumpStory:** Be sure to know what you need - its a big platform, so having the right focus from start is a big help to yourself. We use Jumpstory for our visual identity where good photos and nice stories goes hand in hand. You could trial the service but there are usually deals to be had to buy. These are candid photos so they are taken in real moments. Not a studio. **What do you dislike about JumpStory?** I know that JumpStory isn't the place to find photos with white backgrounds but the background remover is actually very good. It would be nice to have a bigger selection of the photos taken in a studio with the even lighting and models posing though. **Recommendations to others considering JumpStory:** Just know that it's not a place to find the same sort of images you'll find on iStock or Shutterstock. Search is also great. Free background removal is especially useful and makes life easier when you're doing a blog post or social media content and you don't have graphic designers at your disposal and don't use Photoshop or similar tools yourself. **What do you dislike about JumpStory?** Maybe the price for the basic, one-person accounts could be a bit lower (for instance for bloggers etc.). Additionally, as you do get a lot of value for the money, I would prefer a type of an account more geared towards bloggers, indie creators and similar users who do not necessarily need all sorts of features, so they would be happy with less advanced version of the Jumpstory, but being able to pay it something up to 10$, e.g. 9.99$ **Recommendations to others considering JumpStory:** Keep up the great work! And maybe rethink the pricing or make a cheaper type of accounts with less features, but for less needy users. I personally wouldn't be paying 25$ for what I am needing. It would be great if you found a way to strike this soft spot where a users like creators and indie bloggers, more 'ordinary' people, could get the limited service, but for a better price, e.g. something in the range of up to 10$/month. I would be happy to not have some features for a better price. **What problems is JumpStory solving and how is that benefiting you?** Finding the right images to go with posts and for social media quickly. At one company where I work, we need different images so the designer uses them creating visuals and similar stuff, but for me personally, as I also have my own blog and create various content, I just like finding high-quality images that are not looking to stereotypical, and using them with blog posts or social media posts etc. ### 19. They have a couple of features that enrich the experience, such as collections according to trends and seasons, which reduces search times. **What do you dislike about JumpStory?** I was hounded for months to sign up for a trial, then had issues unsubscribing. I tried unsubbing after a payment was processed, but my membership was kept active and the payment happened again the next month. When I noticed I cancelled again and tried to delete my CC information unsuccessfully. This is a big "no-no" for a consultant like me, because I cannot recommend this sort of product to new startup teams with a tight budget. **Recommendations to others considering JumpStory:** Be careful of using your CC information in this service. The text input does not let you center-align text; if you want centered text, you have to add separate lines and the "eyeball" to see if they are properly lined up. I would like to able to resize the image while keeping the overall frame the same - that way I can have a separate background area to add text. With this feature, you would completely replace Canva ;). The images currently are very Eurocentric.
