## Edsby Reviews
  ### 1. Powerful All-in-One Platform

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle W. | Ed Tech and Assessment Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

One of the most beneficial features of Edsby has been the ability to integrate multiple workflows into a single platform. Teachers can take attendance, message parents, request parent permission, and manage their LMS all in one place. Another major benefit has been increased transparency with our parent community. Any classroom related content, learning evidence, and gradebook work that is shared with students is also visible to their caregivers. This has helped build greater clarity and consistency across our school division.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

One of the frustrations I have had supporting Edsby as a school division employee is the length of time between reporting a bug and a resolution being pushed into our production environment. At times, this can take multiple months, causing frustrations among teachers in the division.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since our school division adopted the Edsby platform, we have seen an increase in the quality of conversations around assessment. Edsby allows teachers to set up a well structured and flexible gradebook, including the ability to adjust weightings, while also supporting other important forms of assessment. Teachers can document conversations and observations and share learning evidence through tools like the Learning Story and Destinations. Together, these features support more balanced assessment practices and help make student learning more visible and meaningful.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks for sharing all the positives above. Sorry to hear you're not seeing as timely resolution of your division's issues as you would like. We're constantly triaging fixes for leading issues that affect the most customers. Sometimes that means other fixes, especially if unique to a single customer, can take longer. Note your division also has the option to subscribe to Edsby's priority support, which can expedite fixes.

  ### 2. Intuitive LMS with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gord A. | Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I like Edsby's easy-to-understand interface and simple navigation. It helps with collecting information based on student grades and weightings and provides effective communication with parents. I also find it valuable for giving instant updates for grades.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

I wish there was an instant messaging system in Edsby, which would be ideal. It's also inconvenient that I can't input marks directly for individual students while viewing all their assessments. This feature would make it easier to update changed grades for them. Additionally, the initial setup of Edsby was somewhat tricky.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby helps with collecting information based on student grades and weightings, and it improves communication with staff, students, and parents, providing instant grade updates.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks for your comments. Re: instant messaging. Edsby has a full fledged 1:1 messaging system built in. Did your school disable it? Some do, for teacher workload reasons or because they want users to use a different system. Re: not being able to input grades while viewing students' assessments: if you mean entering grades in report card sheets, there's a split screen view that displays all of the students' assessments in the class you're grading them in.

  ### 3. Simplifies School Communication, Needs Scheduled Posting

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sharon G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I am a teacher at a private school and love using Edsby as our external communications platform and learning management system. It's easy to use for posting and communicating, which suits our very simple purposes. I appreciate how our school has arranged Edsby pages based on grade/class, which allows me to post learning updates, summaries, and announcements effortlessly. It's reassuring to know that each page is a closed system, only accessible to those who are allowed to view it. I also enjoy being able to cross-post between classroom pages, which adds to its convenience.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

As teachers, our administration has expectations for how often we should post. Unfortunately, Edsby does not have scheduled posting functions or save any drafts. This makes it difficult for every post to have to be prepared and posted live.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Edsby as a hub for parent communications, posting updates and announcements securely. It's easy for simple posting, but lacks scheduled posts or drafts.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Appreciate your feedback, Sharon. Post scheduling is an often requested feature, as tracked in our suggestions database. You can suggest more things you'd like to see in Edsby. Details here: https://www.edsby.com/tip-suggest-a-new-feature/edsby-tips/

  ### 4. Edsby, best K-12 software!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

Edsby is simply great. I hardly know where to start. From taking attendance, to attendance reports, to communication with parents, sharing marks, generating report cards, etc. Our teachers love it as a tool to communicate with the students and parents, to keep track of their marks and to do attendance. Our admin likes it to keep on tabs with all that's going on in the school. The office staff likes it for attendance, posts in the news river and generating report cards. Parent like it as a one-stop-know-everything tool: they can see the marks of their children, indicate that their children won't be at school for the day, plan absences for the future, read teacher updates and even message the teachers through Edsby.
We use Edsby every single school day and would not know what to do without it anymore!

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

There are always some small crinkles that need to be ironed out, but the Edsby helpdesk staff is most helpful in resolving problems. It is now also possible to request features for future versions of Edsby.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication with the parents of our students through Edsby is great. Attendance is absolutely great for office staff, teachers, and parents alike. Also the way the gradebook is set up and how it translates into report cards is absolutely great.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Great to hear you're making such extensive use of Edsby! Thanks for sharing.

  ### 5. Great Communication Bridge, Needs Tweaking

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I like that Edsby puts communication with everyone in one place, so it's really handy for communicating with students and parents. I appreciate the bridge it makes for communicating with students, allowing me to reach out beyond when they are just in my classroom. Also, I find it helpful that Edsby handles the setup and calculation of grades without requiring advance knowledge of spreadsheet formulas.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

It is a little unwieldy at times if I have a specific way I want to do grades, sometimes it just isn't set up for that. Also frequent bugs make it frustrating at times. It took a while to figure out mostly because there is so much and it isn't always intuitive.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby puts communication with everyone in one place and handles grade calculations without needing advance knowledge of spreadsheet formulas.

  ### 6. Edsby Makes Student Learning Visible and Keeps Parents Engaged

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

As a gradebook platform for K-12 education, Edsby has additional features that allow students to show their learning through various methods. The ease of navigation for parents to engage with their child's learning is also a highlight of Edsby.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

There are some features that Edsby may not have that would be helpful for schools, but there is also a process to suggest ideas to the company. They have been responsive to user needs.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby is providing gradebook reporting features in a way that is easily accessible for teachers and students. By having a tool that makes reporting student progress and growth accessible for parents, we can improve family engagement in learning.

  ### 7. User-Friendly with Great Features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicole P. | Student Information Systems Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I find Edsby to be user-friendly, which enhances my ability to assist end users, including parents and teachers, effectively. I love the Edsby River for making announcements as it facilitates easy communication with parents and teachers, bridging essential channels for important updates and engagement. The reporting functionality is very beneficial as it simplifies the task of pulling marks back into the SIS, adding efficiency to our operations. Additionally, Edsby offers a great help feature with supportive videos and other resources that made the initial setup quite smooth, despite not having any formal training provided.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

I find it challenging to resend Edsby invitations because the current options are limited to 'NEVER' or selecting a specific date. I would prefer a more flexible option, such as 'LAST WEEK,' to make this process easier. The process of bringing marks to our SIS could be simplified.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Edsby for managing attendance, grade books, announcements, and calendars. It's user-friendly, makes communication easier with parents and teachers, and simplifies pulling marks back into SIS.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with Edsby—we’re glad to hear that the platform’s user-friendliness, news river announcements, and SIS reporting tools are making your daily work smoother and helping keep parents and teachers connected. Your suggestions around invitation resending and simplifying the marks-transfer process are helpful. We appreciate your partnership and are glad to support your district in managing communication, attendance, grading, and day-to-day operations more efficiently.

  ### 8. Seamlessly Integrates into Our LMS, Stellar Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gerry T. | Ed Tech Facilitatory, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I appreciate the smooth setup process we experienced with Edsby, thanks to our close collaboration with the IT department and accurate data from MSS, which led to a hassle-free implementation with no significant issues. I find the support from Edsby incredibly reliable, as they are efficient in addressing small bugs or considering them for future fixes, ensuring that our system runs smoothly. The learning stories feature is particularly valuable as it allows students and their families to visibly track the learning journey, which fosters a transparent educational environment. I find the Gradebook feature very useful, allowing us to easily isolate and enter outcomes, enhancing our assessment processes. Additionally, the River Feed is a significant benefit as it keeps everyone informed about what is happening within the school, contributing to well-coordinated operations. Overall, Edsby enhances our daily operations and educational framework with its useful features.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

I encounter occasional small bugs with Edsby, which require me to identify them and communicate with the Edsby support desk for resolution. While the bugs are generally addressed or put on the radar for future fixes, they can still be a minor inconvenience.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Edsby enhances student engagement by providing learning stories and the grade book simplifies tracking outcomes, while the river feed keeps everyone informed about school activities.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks, Gerry. Glad Edsby continues to deliver value for you after the 5 years your district has been using it.

  ### 9. Edsby is a great LMS for any school

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew D. | IT Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

We really enjoy how user friendly Edsby is to use for our parents, students and staff. The overall design is very clean and it is it easy to find information quickly. We especially like the fact that Edsby offers a sync system with our SIS. This makes keep student data up to date very easy. There is also a robust development team at Edsby that is always working on new features to improve and expand the system.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Our main complaint about Edsby is that once features are released, further development on them seems to stall. This leads to some features not being implemented as well as they could have been, and other features lacking in critical updates to make them better.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby provides an efficient LMS that allows our teachers to assess student work, distribute materials and provided a centralized discussion space for course work. It also gives our coaches and staff advisors a place to schedule meetings, arrange team practices and give students a place to find new interests.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks for the feedback, Matthew. We're always working to improve the product.

  ### 10. Easy Communication and Centralized Document Sharing for Students and Parents

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I appreciate how easy it is to communicate with students and parents. I also like being able to post information and store documents in one place so students can access them when they need to.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Sometimes the user interface isn’t very easy to use. I’ve had complaints from parents who have multiple children and can’t navigate the program easily. As both a teacher and a parent, I also find it difficult to switch between my two accounts and my children’s accounts.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communicating with families.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks for your positive comments.

Re: switching between users, not everybody knows you can stay logged into your single Edsby system with multiple accounts at the same time. You can do it on both desktop and mobile. Details below.

  ### 11. Great for Organization, But Student Submission Process Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer C. | Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

Ease of communication and marking. I like that everything can be in one place.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Students often have difficulty opening assignments that have been copied for them. Often need to open multiple times in order to submit and then they end up with duplicates in their Google Drive. Also, I cannot see student work UNTIL they have submitted. I would like to know where they are at prior to submitting so I can see progress and offer feedback.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Everything is in one place. It makes it really easy for students to connect their work to the assigned grade. Also makes it easy to communicate with parents - though the parent facing side is less easy and results in some families not accessing it.

  ### 12. Enhances Student Interaction & Parent Communication

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Judson T.

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I like Edsby because of its intuitive web interface and the ability it provides for us to manage our accounts efficiently. The responsiveness of Edsby's support team when we have questions is impressive and greatly appreciated. Our previous systems lacked the functionality that Edsby offers, such as a reliable app for parental access, allowing parents to communicate more effectively with teachers and receive updates on their children’s progress. Its seamless user interface allows for better password management and overall improved user experience. I find the onboarding process to be straightforward, with Edsby's team providing excellent support, ensuring we made necessary system changes while they addressed our unique needs. This level of support and functionality makes Edsby valuable to our organization.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

I think some improvements could be made in Edsby regarding its analytics capabilities. The analytics features seem inadequate, which could limit my ability to work with data comprehensively. Additionally, the grade book functionalities, especially the use of rubrics, could be enhanced. I would like if rubrics could have numerical values, making assessment and grading more versatile and aligned with my specific needs. Overall, there should be better functionality in these areas to maximize efficiency and utility.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Edsby as our primary source for student interaction, improving communication with parents and staff. It offers a responsive interface, allows parental engagement via an app, and enhances our data management. It's particularly valuable for supporting parent-teacher communication.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks, Judson for such a thoughtful and detailed review—we’re glad Edsby has made such a meaningful difference for your 9,100-student community. We also appreciate your candid feedback on analytics functionality. We’re actively working on enhancements to give educators more flexibility and deeper insight. Your input helps guide our roadmap, and we’re grateful to partner with you in improving communication, engagement, and day-to-day learning for your staff, students, and families.

  ### 13. Integrated Solution With Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carina W.

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I appreciate Edsby because it offers a cohesive, integrated platform for managing multiple aspects of school operations such as attendance, gradebooks, messaging, forms, report cards, and daily class updates. This integration is crucial for me, as it eliminates the need to coordinate across various systems and software applications, simplifying my workflow significantly. I find immense value in having everything consolidated into one app, which enhances efficiency and helps maintain focus on teaching rather than administrative tasks. Additionally, the initial setup of Edsby was very easy, which made the transition smooth and efficient. The program's integration with tools like Google Suite also adds to its versatility and practicality in a school environment.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

I find the weighting system for grades somewhat clunky. It's complicated to adjust weightings and get an overview of the weightings for my course in a simplified way.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Edsby to organize grades and integrate them into report cards, benefiting from its cohesive structure that combines different systems into one app, simplifying my workflow.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks for your perspective, Carina. Glad Edsby simplifies your workday. Re: weighting, ask your internal Edsby support team if they can "model" weightings for you, and in other teachers' gradebooks, going forward. Edsby gradebooks can be set up with your district's desired weightings each year at the beginning of the year through a process called "modelling."

  ### 14. All-in-One School App Makes Life Easier

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I appreciate how everything is conveniently available in a single app, from tracking attendance to viewing school marks.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

When you need assistance, it can sometimes take several days before you receive a response to your help ticket.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The platform is user-friendly for teachers, making it simple to export marks from Edsby into our SIS and then upload them to the ministry.

  ### 15. Edbsy is the best school communication platform available

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin S. | Vice-principal, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

Edsby is intuitive to use and provides as much information about a student's learning environment as seems possible. Parents and students have access to immediate information about the school and the student's progress. Teachers have a wide array of tools at hand to make learning meaningful and accessible for all. There is no better platform out there that I've seen.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Sometimes the immediacy of Edsby information is too much. Marks are always there, assignments are always there, and so on. And sometimes kids need to detach and be away from it all.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby prevents numerous problems for teachers, students and parents. Due dates are clear, backups of necessary documents are available, documents can be submitted digitally, contact can be made through the secure messaging system, appointments can be scheduled, attendance reported ... and all of these tools solve problems of lost or misinformation.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks, Kevin. Agreed that students often chase their grades in online systems like Edsby. A good reminder for all of us, parents included, to examine ways to help them remember that education is about more than just #s.

  ### 16. All-in-One Communication Tool, but Not Always User-Friendly

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

It is all encompassing - I can post information as well as send messages to parents and/or students.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Not the most user-friendly program. Certain features that are not "working" but no way to know why or how to fix.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Contacting families, tracking attendance, conference scheduling.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Glad Edsby is helping consolidate apps for you. If you encounter things that aren't functional, ask your staff in charge of your Edsby system whether there are some aspects that are intentionally not being used by your school or district. Many organizations disable or ignore certain aspects because they want teachers, students and parents to use other official systems of record. If you encounter something you think is actually broken, report it to your Edsby team and they can escalate to us if something indeed needs fixing. There's also "Report a problem" under the question mark icon on your Edsby desktop login or the menu on the Edsby mobile app.

  ### 17. Enhances Communication, Yet Needs Better Font Clarity

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lori G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I absolutely love how Edsby allows me to enter comments that can be accessed by other staff members, enhancing communication and making it easy to keep track of student progress. The journal feature is incredibly beneficial because it keeps students and parents updated on daily lessons, promoting transparency and engagement. I also appreciate the wide variety of groups, which makes it a comprehensive platform for everything from classroom tasks to administrative work. The clarity, organization, and visual aspects such as colors and screen layout are essential features that I find very compelling.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

As a non-tech person, I found the initial setup challenging. The assessment part was difficult for me to understand, which made me rely on paper comparison to ensure accuracy with my calculations. Occasionally, using the assessment feature becomes cumbersome with large class sizes, as switching screens is required, and the font size can be too small.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Edsby enhances communication by enabling easy sharing of student comments with staff, creating an efficient digital process, and it keeps parents informed through the journal feature.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks for your comments, Lori. Appreciate your enthusiasm for Edsby!

Re: setup, your district has the ability to "model" your upcoming classes and automatically set up technical things like gradebook weighting and assessment schemes for you, and every teacher. Ask your internal Edsby support team about it.

Re: font size, Edsby supports browsers' built in text magnification features. Browsers often call it Zooming in or Zooming out in their View menus. Common keyboard shortcuts include Ctrl + "+" (plus) to zoom in and Ctrl + "-" (minus) to zoom out on Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS. On Mac, the shortcuts are Cmd + "+" and Cmd + "-" respectively. If you find you could use increased font size in any area of Edsby, try this. A smaller font is used in the gradebook to try to display as much as possible on a single screen, but we respect that not all users have the same eyesight. Here's a roundup of all the ways our product accommodates users with different accessibility needs: https://www.edsby.com/accessibility/

  ### 21. Using Edsby as an LMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott S. | Communication Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

In my final semester of teaching, I chose to use Edsby rather than Google Classroom to manage my classes. While there were some initial hurdles, the time saved by having student work, teacher feedback, and grades in Edsby saved a tremendous amount of time.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

There is a bit of a learning curve for both teachers and students, but that time investment is worth the effort.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby makes it easy to manage a class, allowing timely feedback and messaging.

  ### 22. Total Game Changer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melanie G. | Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

If you aren’t using Edsby, you’re missing out. From quick parent communication to an organized digital Gradebook, this app truly is a game changer for teachers. It is very user friendly - for teachers, parents and students. Uploads are quick, it is accessible on phone, tablet or PC. I am very happy with our board’s decision.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

I would love to see some changes to the Gradebook in terms of the stranded options. I love that using ‘stranded’ uploads my grades directly to my strands on the report card but I would like more flexibility in the marking scheme when this is set up.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s a great one-stop-shop with everything in one place.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Appreciate the remarks, Melanie. Powerful words from a teacher at a school district that has been using Edsby for 10 years now for its 37,000 students! Glad you make such wide use of the software and that it's making such an impact for you.

  ### 23. Absolute Must Have for Any School

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Colin C. | Vice Principal / IT Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

Esbsy is an absolute must have for our school. It allows everyone from staff, to parents, to students to always be updated and make sure there are no missing details. As an administrator, having some much data available at any time is incredibly valuable. Student records, parent contact info, assignments, report cards, teacher lessons plans, anything I need to access is immediately available. Having the data and access also helps to keep everyone accountable. Teachers know parents will be looking at marks, Parents know teachers will be following up on missed work or absences, I know there are written records of posts and communication. I cannot imagine not having Edsby.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

I would like some customization for exporting data. There's so much good information in the Edsby system, it would be nice to have more options for exporting or reports. Additional views or ways to export attendance data for example would be great. Switching between calendar views, number of days missed vs. classes etc, having some more options on how to view and use the data would be great.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Coordination between the staff is a huge benefit. We have multiple different staff groups dedicated specific activities or areas. A great example is our "Supervision" group. Staff can quickly see who is on any giving recess, post if something has come up or they need someone to cover, while other staff can quickly volunteer. Everything is visible and recorded so we always know all supervisions are covered and who is on at any given time.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks for your comments, Colin. Ask your Edsby customer success or account reps for options to achieve what you seek. For instance, you might qualify to test a new capability we're introducing that allows customers to push select data to their own SQL databases.

  ### 24. Edsby in Kindergarten

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I love adding documentation to students learning stories. Just choose a student, snap a picture, add student voice and save. It’s great for parents because I tend to share many pictures through out the day. The children say, “Let’s send a picture of my block tower to my mom.” When parents see the documentation, they feel good that they know what their children are doing. As teachers we model the kinds of questions to ask, and it sparks real conversation at home.
As a communication tool, we can post upcoming events on our feed so the children can be prepared with the outdoor gear they need. Parents can private message if they have questions.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

I find that parents sometimes get kicked out of Edsby and have a hard time getting back in. This they miss important material. For some reason, I can’t seem to tell parents how to get a red circle notification on the app. This bugs parents.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I really like that I can now open a screen in the report cards and drag and drop my evidence into the report card frames. This is a newer feature that helps a lot. In the reports, I had a white screen stay open over my document, and Wilfred with the tech team was supportive and says it will be fixed with the next update.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks for your enthusiasm for Edsby! We focused a lot on features for early year educators like you to help encourage family engagement. When parents are actively involved in their children's education, outcomes improve. Remind parents that they need to use their assigned username (often their email address) and password to log in at your special Edsby server URL--so that's three bits of info they need to know. Thanks for using Edsby!

  ### 25. Educational Facebook

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Romil T. | IT Helpdesk, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

Its the best platform for students. We don't need to provide Mailbox to the users. They can see all school activities on Edbsy. They can communicate with anyone in organization.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Sometimes it gets really slow. In general support is great but when we need a timeline to resolve the problem, they don't have it. It takes some times to get the new release out.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All the manual calander work is gone. Everything is posted on Edsby. Just login and find all the information for school. Really good for parents to keep track of everything their kids are doing.

  ### 26. Program with a lot of potential

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

Edsby is essentially your Google Classroom, your gradebook, and your school email all-in-one.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

It's fairly new so bugs are still being worked out.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Everything is in one place instead of having to use multiple platforms. You have your gradebook, your classroom feed, and the ability to communicate directly with students and parents.

  ### 27. Jack of All Trades, Master of Some

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

It's great to have an all-in-one platform. Support times have improved in the past year or two. Gradebook is easy to use and offers a variety of assessment schemes and other customization options. Parent communication options are great, especially the ability to send out digital permission forms.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Because it does so many things a number of them lack depth. Some bug reports are now being met with a response of "put it on the suggestions site", even when it's clearly not working as intended. There is a concern that new features being added are being put behind additional paywalls, along with some items that were previously included in the base price.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Delivers an all-in-one solution to better engage families. Only having one platform to sign up for makes it much easier to connect.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Glad to hear you're benefiting from Edsby's breadth and customizability to your org's policies and practices. If you're encountering things actually broken, fixing them should not be characterized as feature requests. I invite you to ask your support representative to escalate your issue(s) if this happens again. Similarly, if you believe some things that were previously included in our base price are now only available at extra cost, please escalate that with your rep. I and other company leaders I asked cannot recall any time we've done this. We occasionally introduce new functionality and make it available for additional fees, but hope that you and others respect that new innovation requires continued investment, which comes with costs. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on G2!

  ### 28. Edsby is an amazing app

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Public Relations and Communications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

The most helpful thing about Edsby is keeping in contact with school activities and absence…also I love that we are able to see the goings on at the school on a daily basis and keep in communication with teachers

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

There isn’t any thing that I don’t like about Edsby…things run smoothly

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have not run in to any problems while using the app

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks for sharing your experience with Edsby!

  ### 29. Great Platform to communicate throughout our whole education community

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emily C. | Secondary Secretary, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

The real time attendance for our parents and the ability to communicate instantly with students and their home lives.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Sometimes because of the volume of traffic on the site it bogs down and you will get the processing spinning wheel.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are syncing issues that Edsby tries to correct and fix all the time. Unfortunately sometimes Edsby and our other database do not work well together

  ### 30. The Ultimate Hub for Teacher Communication and Content

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

It's an all on one hub for teacher communication and content

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

The multiple classes for split grades. And not being able to copy assignments easier in gradebook.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby always solves problems

  ### 31. Consultant

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaron H. | Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

- Tells the story of learning clearly
- Makes assessment meaningful
- Links to curriculum outcomes
- Supports triangulation of assessment
- Communicates growth effectively
- Easy to share learning with families

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

- I'm not always sure what some of the terms and titles mean
- Parent view isn't always intuitive

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby is a one-stop shop for parents, caregivers, and students. No more multiple passwords for multiple platforms.

  ### 32. Everything in one app

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lynn S. | Administrative Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

It is an easy-to-use platform that enables simultaneous messaging, document sharing, and posting announcements to students, parents, and teachers.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Edsby analytics are helpful, but they do not allow for filtering beyond what is presented on the sidebar. For instance, in the Student Map feature, I am looking for the total number of days a student has been absent or late. While I can see these statistics represented as percentages, I need the actual number of days. Although I can calculate this myself, it takes time to compile the information for the Principal.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby is a quick and easy tool for tracking attendance. Previously, I had to gather paper attendance sheets and input the data manually, creating separate lists for absences for teachers and busing. Now, teachers input absences directly, and I can use a straightforward Excel report to generate my lists. This process saves a lot of time, allowing me to move on to my next task more efficiently.

  ### 33. Invaluable With Remote Learning!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

Edsby has been an invaluable tool while we have been doing remote learning this year. It was our central spot where we kept all our information. Kids knew where to go and where to find what they needed. We also made use of groups where kids could chat and connect when they weren't at school together in-person. It has been really helpful! I have also liked how kids could answer other kids questions. I often found another student having answered a student's question. It was a great way to build a community of learners.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

One of the challenges has been kids forgetting their passwords or not remembering to check Edsby. As long as they remember where to look for the information, it has worked wonderfully.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to find ways for kids to make connections with each other while doing remote learning.
We also use it to keep track of required homework each day. It's our communication platform with parents and students.

  ### 34. Edsby is a user-friendly platform that keeps students, parents, and teachers connected.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I like how Edsby keeps everything organized in one place—grades, assignments, and messages—making it easy to stay on top of schoolwork and communicate with teachers.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

For a teacher some aspects of Edsby feel disconnected—for example, the planner for one class doesn’t link with the planner from another class. This can make its difficult to see a full picture of an upcoming day (dayplan feature) in one place.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby offers a wide range of features consolidating many things in one place for teachers, students and parents.

  ### 35. Transformed our school

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marc M. | District IT, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

It's an amazing all in one solution for Staff, students and Parents. The ability to eliminate all other apps is amazing.
The support team has been incredible, and the features are easy to use and understand for Students and Staff.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

More documentation for IT Admins to allow a deeper dive into more advanced features.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby allowed us to eliminate Google Classroom, Remind App and many other school apps by giving us all solutions in one product.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks, Marc. Edsby's ability to replace multiple edtech applications is very popular among our customers and users. Students, teachers and parents always know where to go for everything. Glad it's had such an impact for you.

  ### 36. Very positive experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

The ability to track conversations with parents and students.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

The limit abilities of the app that goes with Edsby.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to keep track of detailed information on individual students and make marking easier.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks for the review. Glad you're enjoying Edsby!

Re: limitations of the Edsby mobile app, given that you're an educator, you're always going to need your Edsby desktop login for certain things. For instance, gradebook updates, and report card comment authoring (with all assessments and evidence displayed on the same screen for reference) are never going to be possible on devices with small screen sizes. So there will always be limits to the Edsby mobile app for teachers.

  ### 37. Best of Breed

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jon B. | Associate Director of IT, Data Innovation and Administration, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

The most user-friendly and comprehensive all-in-one LMS out there.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Edsby has a high "feature velocity" - both good and bad. They are constantly adding new features but only recently have improved the way they notify people (although the new notification system seems to be working well - so maybe this issue has gone away?)

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

From attendance (excellent!) to student information (comprehensively integrates with our SIS) to class management and teacher use (very user-friendly, a lot like social media, except controlled and managed) with assessment tools and an excellent Gradebook (by far the best out there) and integrated report cards... Edsby does it all seemlessly.

**Official Response from Dallas Kachan:**

> Thanks, Jon, for your longtime support. We're grateful to you and your org for using Edsby for 13 years, now, by my count!

  ### 38. Great for teachers and students!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rhae F. | Science Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

Edsby is helpful as a teacher to keep track of student progress throughout the semester.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Unless your division has accounts, can cannot access the additional apps partnered with Edsby.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can easily see when assignments are submitted, and also grade them right in Edsby.

  ### 39. Edsby a classroom dream

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I like that you are able to capture evidence of learning and keep assessment data all in an easily accessible program.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

It would be nice to have more analytics functions

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby makes it easy to send out messages and collect data on the learning happening in my classroom.

  ### 40. Outstanding product and usability

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2017

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I love the integration with our current student information system and Edsby's willingness to work with us to find solutions to our integration gaps.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

The lack of customization within our own environment which is completely understandable when dealing with a product of this size.

**Recommendations to others considering Edsby:**

Try it out for yourself

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving district wide gradebook issues as well as finding solutions to ministry requirements.

  ### 41. Working with Edsby, both the platform, and their staff has been amazing.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James A. | Technology Special Assignment Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

What I love about Edsby the most is the focus on the importance of building a platform that works best to engage student learning at the ground floor. Edsby works hard to create a system that makes it easy for teachers, parents, and students to fully immerse themselves in a learning journey and to track and build on each step from start to finish.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Sometimes the system glitches. But this is usually quickly rectified and usually comes from the team trying to update and evolve the current platform. Though it can be frustrating for staff, students and parents in the moment.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby is creating a one stop shop for everything the education system requires as far as policy, procedure and standards of practice.

  ### 42. It is user-friendly and a great communication tool between school and home.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victoria B. | Technology Special Assignment Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

The evidence of learning is a great tool to track student progress. The ability to capture student voice (audio or video) of a conversation that they are having with another student, or with yourself is fantastic. Being able to then grab observations made and recoded in Evidence and apply it to the report card with a click of a button just enhances the power of the Evidence of Learning feature.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

As a teacher, not being able to see and understand how Edsby looks from the student view. It is difficult to assist students when as a teacher, I do not know what their view looks like.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to capture students speaking a second language and sharing that with parents.

  ### 43. Edsby in the classroom

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lisa W. | Steam and Learning Specialist/Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I like the ease with which I can collect, grade and communicate with classes and students on Edsby.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

I wish more features were available sooner.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

n/a

  ### 44. I love Edsby as a place to communicate with students, parents, and colleagues.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Janet S. | Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

Edsby is easy to use and is a great place to communicate a teacher's needs. It is easy to implement, and you can roll plans and grade books from year to year. I use Edsby many times a day at work.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Very rarely, there are glitches, but Edsby support is very quick to troubleshoot and solve issues as they arise.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me communicate lesson plans, learning goals, success criteria, and assessments. Through it, I can communicate with staff, students, parents, and the whole school community. It is a place of connection and a way to build community as a whole school.

  ### 45. Use of Edsby from Principal and former EdTech Coach

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Curtis B. | Principal at Pangman School, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2024

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

Edsby has bolstered its ability for teachers to see student data at a glance. This includes student performance and attendance data. In addition the ability to create self marking quizzes, as well as the ability to stay organized to allow students to hand in assignments allows for the management and organization of student work.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

I wish that Edsby would allow for teachers to mark up documents what students hand in. Speeding up the feedback process for students.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Student assessment and analysis of student data, and parent communication

  ### 46. Edsby is a Winner!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2024

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I think Edsby is a unique platform. Teachers can use the Grader to evaluate student work, and Edsby's Evidence of Learning is fantastic. Teachers and students can capture their work, reflect on it, attach expectations to it and build out a thorough portfolio of student evidence for authentic assessment.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Sometimes there are bugs with the program, which can make it annoying to use.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ease of assessment and evaluation for our teachers. It's also a great parent communication tool and reporting tool.

  ### 47. Edsby is an all-in-one solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

Edsby has all communication features (gradebook, messaging, analytics) all in one program

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Edsby app functionality. It requires some additional user functionality.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby allows for grades, attendance and home communication to all happen within the same environment.

  ### 48. Edsby

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Courtney C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

Edsby has been very easy to use in order to communicate with my child's teachers throughout the school year. I can communicate about when my child is ill or has to miss school.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

Every time I log in and out of Edsby I have to put in my user name and password. It would be much more time efficient if it could remember me each time and save my password.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edsby has allowed for easy daily communication with the classroom teachers. This constant updating allows for a deeper knowledge of what is going on with my child day to day.

  ### 49. Great communication and learning management system

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

Edsby helps our students, parents, and faculty to connect and communicate about the learning in and outside of the classroom! Edsby has helped staff to share information and student progress or areas for improvement with ease. The Edsby interface is very intuitive, and so allows for ease of access as well.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

The challenges we have had with Edsby are more on the backside of things - such as when there are "known issues" and the timeliness of things being updated. Also, often there would be new features added that we didn't know about before release so keeping staff up to date and trained on these new features was at times tricky.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping in touch with families and students has been ideal in Edsby, students can take ownership of their learning, and faculty can share what is going on in the classroom and help staff and students best understand expectations in their classes.

  ### 50. Great platform for classes

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Edsby?**

I like how students can submit work digitally, take online tests that are automatically graded and put into gradebook. I like the ease of inputting marks and changing weightings. Communication with students and parents is easy. It's very similar to Facebook so navigation is simple.

**What do you dislike about Edsby?**

There's a glitch in the planner now - I used to be able to create a post there and it would show in my class' newsfeed. It doesn't always show nor copy to my other classes. I wish the student averages would automatically transfer over into their report card so I wouldn't have to manually type them in, but I would like them to remain editable. I also wish I could access gradebook through the mobile app.

**What problems is Edsby solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm not sure....
