They’ve managed to keep the system simple while still covering all aspects of the take-off and tender process. I find Countfire accurate, trustworthy, and efficient. Since using it, we’ve been able to take on more projects because the take-off time in Countfire is only a fraction of what it is with a manual take-off. The Countfire team were always available to answer any queries we had early on. I can’t imagine tendering without Countfire now. **What do you dislike about Countfire?** No complaints! Countfire doesn't over complicate the system and is very easy to use. **What problems is Countfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** We had projects coming through that contained 30+ drawings per discipline, and it was taking a large amount of time to complete the take-offs for these drawings. Since using Countfire, take-offs not only take a fraction of the time, but they’re also more accurate. Countfire also enables us to quickly access all the data that has built up to create the tender, all at the click of a button. ### 2. My efficiency as an employee has skyrocketed. I guess if I had to pick something, I would say occasionally items I do not want selected, become selected. I see this as more of a Plan issue and not a Countfire issue. If you have used other type softwares, integrating is very fast and easy. Keystrokes mimic a "gamer" style, which was easy to assimilate to. From manual to auto counting both are simpler process. The auto count takes some time to trust and get use to. When doing lengths, the ability to change and move the lines is super easy and fun. The estimating portion of the software is very indepth and easy to generate. The best part of the software are the people behind it. The Customer Service is 5 Star. The Chat/Messaging feature is awesome. They reply quickly and will jump through fire hoops to help you in any way. My company is in the US, while they are based in UK. A huge time difference. I have never been without a fast resolution. Any changes to the software, to help our company achieve our goal, has always been at the top of their list. There are many features to assist with your estimates. Bottom line; Easy, Easy, Easy **What do you dislike about Countfire?** I dont think these are downsides but it would be nice if they could be worked on. 1. The ability to change the size of symbols when applied manually 2. The ability to customize the symbols by adding numbers or letters to them 3. Scaling is cumbersome, but there are some things in the works to help fine tune it. 4. Not all print types are able to be auto counted. It all depends on how the drawings were created and saved. It'll never be perfect and its okay, but a small note to mention. **What problems is Countfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** The scaling of prints is being worked over. Additional information is being added to estimate side so that our transition is flawless and it captures all the data we require for our records and customers. ### 7. I appreciate that it was built by people who understand low voltage estimating, so it doesn't require extensive training. Countfire was a much easier interface to use and navigate than McCormick, which was what I used before. I am light years ahead of where I would be with our previous estimating software. The takeoff portion of the software is unbelievably intuitive and far and away more user-friendly than any estimating software that I have previously used. The in-chat feature is amazing with customer service right at your fingertips and I have yet to experience a wait time longer than a couple minutes before someone has engaged and looking into my question. **What do you dislike about Countfire?** I have not much past the takeoff experience with Countfire as of yet, but the capabilities seem to be what will be needed for our company and things appear to be evolving constantly with the software's capabilities. **What problems is Countfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** The auto-count feature greatly speeds up device counts. What used to take days or weeks now takes under an hour and if you get stuck, the Customer Service is better than any company I have ever used. Just send a message via chat and in minutes (sometimes seconds) someone is on and assisting. They have even looked at what I am working on and sent me shortcuts or workarounds w/out me asking! **What do you dislike about Countfire?** As an estimator, there is so much on prints beyond takeoffs. The ability to highlight notes and add them to sub-headers you control (Exclusions, Qualifications, General Estimate Notes) would be huge. It's a Huge time saver, and great customer service. **What do you dislike about Countfire?** Some slight issues with the system picking up multiple fixture types, but there are some work arounds that you grasp pretty easily to resolve that. When generating reports, i've found that i am having to save it under a different file type in order to Edit ( this could be that my computer is not properly setup or is geared more to web based applications than more typical Excell/Adobe editors), and then saving again under a PDF file for email preperation...would recomend a quicker option to just print a PDF on the total fixture types ( easy simple burtton/1 click option). **What problems is Countfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** saves me about 80% of the time it takes to do Lighting Counts. ### 25. Creating projects, takeoffs, estimates, etc. are all straightforward and easily understandable. They even provide in-depth videos to learn how to use the software at an even higher level. **What do you dislike about Countfire?** The one thing I would like to have in countfire is the ability to transfer one set of drawings from one discipline to another within a takeoff. The ability to remove highlighted symbols from the drawing means the chance you are missing items is very slim. Once you have finished the 1st drawing, the auto count feature will deal with most of the other drawings in the same discipline (massive saving in time). once your project has been processed, you can check symbols to ensure you haven't mistakenly highlighted a wrong symbol. Estimating is one of those things that just gets better the more you use it. Countfire is intelligent and learns from your previous projects, auto-filling the most regularly used kits. You will find, Countfires customer care and support is 2nd to none. The guys and girls are there to help within minutes of you starting an online coversation. As faultless as it gets **What do you dislike about Countfire?** The only problem I see with Countfire is once you start to use it, you won't want to be without it. Countfire is like Pringles for estimators; once you pop, you can't stop. **What problems is Countfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** Time-saving is a big thing for me. As a small company, my time is precious. The estimating side ensures our estimated costs are always in the same ballpark with the ability to edit profits and labour costs with a few clicks of the mouse. ### 37. Also, I would like to see a way to export the excel sheet with itemized measurements instead of lump sum. It has clearly been designed by a user and operative that has experienced all our pain previously. **What do you dislike about Countfire?** When taking off containment the item you have covered isn't removed from the drawing as other takeoffs. On a busy drawing, it can become very crowded and hard to see what has or hasn't been covered. **What problems is Countfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** Time, space and cost in not having to print off all the drawings. separating all the areas n a drawing which when coming to procurement is very useful and the amount of errors it can highlight that have not been completed properly. I only need to set up a symbol and make a selection once - this then gets applied to the rest of the drawings in a particular discipline. **What do you dislike about Countfire?** Not a lot to dislike. It doesn't prevent you from processing and flagging up a big red warning. **Recommendations to others considering Countfire:** Take the time to listen and learn the initials/basics at the start, as they help massively when learning the more difficult aspects. **What problems is Countfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** Countfire assists with speeding up certain take offs, projects for us and has also reduced the amount of printing required per tender.
