## About Backendless
Backendless is a visual app development platform that offers a full range of low-code and no-code tools for app and web developers of all experience levels. Backendless features include a component-based UI Builder, real-time database, user authentication and management suite, push notification and in-app messaging console, Codeless logic builder, API management, and much more. Backendless was designed from the backend first, making it a perfect backend compliment to any coded or no-code frontend. The Backendless platform's visual approach and pre-built APIs make it easy to build the backend of any app up to 10 times faster than with traditional coding solutions and at a fraction of the cost.

## Backendless Reviews
 ### 1. Backendless is built for beginners

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dustin S. | Of Counsel, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

I took about fifteen credits of computing and IT classes in undergrad, so I have some sense of how much training is necessary to do meaningful coding and how much information goes into creating an app. Backendless's combination of no-code capabilities and training modules empower beginners to develop a capability in weeks or months that I had thought would take years. The training modules and videos are world-class and given by the CEO himself. I'm still new to learning all I need to know to build apps but am very impressed by what I have seen thus far.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

If I could change anything it would be that Loc data could be added to the Backendless database with API calls.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to joining Backendless, I had very limited IT experience, about 15 IT credits in my undergrad coursework. I have an app idea and wanted to see if I could build it myself and have been happily surprised that I may be able to create an MVP without help or with limited consulting help.

 ### 2. Best Customisable Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rob D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

I have been looking for a long time, for a no-code solution with a self-hosted option. I have trialled many options with varying degrees of success and satisfaction, and this is by far the most comprehensive and customisable solution I have found. The support is excellent, responses are within hours, and the team work with you until your issue/question is resolved. The pricing structure is fair, and not the standard "per user" found in similar products. This makes it a much more affordable robust solution for small businesses or teams to implement and use. The learning/training tools are very helpful and cover all aspects of the product.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

The extensive customisability makes it a fair bit harder to learn, but the training tools and videos help immensely.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Use of the product will allow us to move away from a heavily spreadsheet focused environment to a database solution that will provide much more information to managers, as well as simplify and speed up the business processes it replaces.

 ### 3. The only backend solution you need

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

The ease of use and functionality of backendless is flawless. As a small app development company, we found it simple to integrate our systems and have them hosted on backendless. We are a small company with big ambitions and Backendless allows for this. We especially appreciate the Free plans, which allows use of the platform for development and testing purposes, not imposing any timescales forcing us to upgrade to a paid plan if the time isn't right. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking to embark on the app development journey, it's the perfect starting point.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

The current pricing structure unfortunately does not suit our current needs. Whilst the Free plan is brilliant for development and testing, we need more capacity in order to launch. The variation in pricing for the Scale plan currently doesn't fit with the type of clients we deal with as they like to know exactly how much they are paying from month to month, and a set number of API calls over a period for a set price would help hugely.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Whilst user authentication on app launch is available from other platforms, it is easier and simpler through backendless. Additionally, there is a fully customisable and visual solution when it comes to storing user data, which is extremely helpful when there are many categories and types of data to store. The RESTful API can be used to integrate with our web systems as well as private API keys which are offered by platform, this makes the integration seamless.

 ### 4. Backendless: A Perfect Tool for Building Apps with No Code

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew F. | Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

I felt that backendless allowed me to build powerful apps with begginer knowledge of code.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

I felt that it could have affordable pricing.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allowed me to get personal and private projects off the ground fast and start monetizing.

 ### 5. A Developer's Trusted Backend Partner

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

I have used various backend solutions, but Backendless has never failed to impress me. I first started using Backendless in 2015 as a quick prototyping tool and it has become my go-to platform for app development. I can confidently say it is the easiest platform available today to get started with backend development, and it even goes far beyond that to full fledged production scale applications.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Just like any other cloud provider, Backendless suffers from occasional outages once or twice a year, but the team is always vigilant and never fails to get things back up and running in no time!

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Back in 2015, after the Parse platform got acquired by Facebook, it was scheduled for shutdown soon after. Our team started looking for an alternative solution which would keep DevOps efforts at a minimum and instead keep the focus on product and feature development. We found Backendless which back then marketed themselves as the best Parse alternative, and true enough, we were able to switch to Backendless in no time and go back to our day to day work.
Building secure API endpoints is a breeze, and user authentication with various providers is a snap. Plus, you get granular control over user roles, ensuring top-notch security. But the real magic lies in its automatic, massive scaling. No developer heroics needed, your backend seamlessly adjusts to skyrocketing users and data, letting you focus on crafting the perfect app experience.

 ### 6. Easiest way to develop a concrete application.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Innocent N. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

The codeless feature mattress development so much simpler and makes with so much quicker because there's less worry about syntax.

I don't know how the devs do it but support is truly incredible with responding to developer issues or inquiries in general in their support page.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Can be expensive when trying to scale up to higher tier plans for more traffic (number of API calls).

Some incredibly rarely used SQL doesn't work (more intricate and complex stuff thankfully but still).

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting the application from nothing to operational is so much simpler than any other platform I've ever used and it's pretty dependable.

 ### 7. Best all round low code platform on the market

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul B. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Backendless is a phenomenal platform. The capability to grow and scale from low code to pure code is a reason why we chose Backendless as a #lowcodedevelopment platform of choice.

Their support is second to none. I've used a lot of no/low-code platforms and as a rule, Backendless come up trumps.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Pricing model is my least favourite aspect as it's recently changed and the platform may become more expensive, though we're looking at ways to mitigate that issue.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Speed of delivery whilst being a mostly robust, mature and stable platform.

 ### 8. Extremely useful for learning coding concepts

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** DANIEL S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Backendless has a "missions" section that rewards users with points that can be cashed in for, essentially, a backendless gift card. Not only is this an extremely strong motivator for people like me (with ADHD), but its just a great user experience all around. The tutorials aren't too complicated, but they effectively introduce you to the system and help you get past that "don't-know-how-to-do-anything" hump. From there, Backendless has hundreds of tutorial videos on youtube to help further develop your knowledge and skills.

Another wonderful thing about Backendless is the quick responsiveless of the support team. I posted a lot of questions on the support forum whenever I had an issue that I couldn't solve with youtube tutorials. Every post got a helpful response within a few days. Often times, the responses weren't complete solutions, but were guides towards the right answer. I was honestly a bit frustrated at first that I wasn't getting the exact solution to my problems, but I realized that this was actually a better system for teaching me how to do things on my own, rather than relying on help every time.

The last positive note I want to focus on is just the feature depth to backendless. You would expect that a tool like this wouldn't be able to do so much, but the possibilities are almost limitless. I am not a strong enough coder yet to fully take advantage of the custom component and custom theme/CSS tools, but the fact that they are there means that there is almost no limit to what you can build in the backendless system.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

There are two downsides that I encountered in Backendless. Neither is overwhelming, and I would still recommend the service to anyone who wants to learn coding concepts without having to learn syntax.

The first is that the UI builder a bit more restrictive and has a higher learning curve than I expected. I come from a UX/UI design background where I use tools like Figma and Indesign with much more freedom. I recognize that the systems are designed for very different things, but I think the UI builder in backendless could borrow some of the Figma user experience when it comes to customization and layout.

The second is that I occasionally encountered blank or "work-in-progress" pages when searching through the Backendless docs. It was never a deal-breaker, because I could always post a question on the support page, but it would have been if the docs were more complete (especially regarding the UI builder).

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem that Backendless is solving for me is that I don't know code syntax. I started learning Kotlin, but found it very difficult to master coding concepts while I was also trying to memorize syntax. As a learning platform, Backendless is great at teaching the concepts of coding (logic, how to interact with the front-end, data-binding, how to communicate with and use the backend, etc...) without forcing users to memorize syntax.

 ### 9. Solid Platform Backend Platform with Endless Possibilities

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

It is a flexible backend solution for Mobile Apps that provides high customizability and great customer support. Able to host JavaScript API's as well as data storage. I prefer to write my own code vs the codelss options but can handle both great.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Some edge features do not work as intended (event timer notifications), but everything else has been great. Whenever something does not work as intended, the support team quickly responds and provides a solution.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An all-in-one backend solution for a smartphone app. Hosts our data and backend API's and makes it easy to manage from one location. Makes it easier for our small team to manage information.

 ### 10. Unbelievable support from the team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bob L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Two things:

1) It's no-code / low-code, but the concepts are exactly the same as normal programming. It means it's less magical and allow you to progressively scale up the complexity of the app - at least that's my expectation. I have yet to go through the full loop.

2) Incredible support - this is what drove me to write a review. I experienced an issue while completing their excellent onboarding course (called Missions) - I reached out to support - this is crazy easy, I click the button within the onboarding course itself and all my details including which part of the course are automatically filled in. Then even more shocking for me is that 3 days later (yes, it included the weekends), not only did they reply to me with a solution... they actually deployed a new feature to ensure others won't run into the same issue.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Coming from a design background, Backendless is not the easiest to pick up. Doing basic things like creating a dropdown etc takes more work than just selecting a pre-made component. On one hand this means you can create anything and not tied to any pre-made components. On the other it means taking more time than other no-code platforms to get up and running.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me, person without coding backgroun, to create a full fledge app that is highly customised to my requirements and design.

 ### 11. We find the Database functionalities very easy to use

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul d. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Backendless is a structured database platform that is hosted in a Cloud enviroment and the Billing takes place on a SaaS basis. - The pricing is reasonable and well worth the money spent.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

We are developers of Mobile Phone Applications and our Developemt Platform / Tool we use is Flutter Flow and the Intergration to BackEndLess could be a lot better. It is lacking a lot of Features we require to achieve better integration to our Flutter Flow Apps

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

BackEndLess offer a One Stop Shop to store and retrieve data from their Cloud Based Mobile App Solutions

 ### 12. Backendless

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rick M. | Director, Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

ease of use
customer support
ease of integration

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

the new user may find it intimidating until they start feeling comfortable with the location of resources.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The nocode/lowcode environment makes it less stressful for the beginner and allows the more advanced user to add customizations where needed. The timeframe for the development effort has been reduced greatly.

 ### 13. Game changer to build your own web app

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex K. | Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

The platform is a complete solution for building any kind of web or mobile application — front end + back end, with unbelievable amounts of "out of the box" components and functionalities. Very intuitive to learn, and for any question or support requests the Backendless team is quick to respond and help. Great community and company culture, too.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Documentation could use some work — because there are so many functions/features, it seems like the Backendless team has some catching up to do with adding more detail, examples, etc to their documentation. Having said that, the courses and tutorial videos on YouTube are amazingly well done and super useful.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are rebuilding a live web application with tens of thousands of users entirely on Backendless. The app was built the "traditional way" ( Elixir back end, Vue.js front end, Kubernetes, AWS EC2 instances, etc) and we were completely dependent on highly paid "engineers" to maintain and make any changes to the app... Backendless is freeing us from this dependency, we are taking charge of our tech... as non-technical founders!

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Hi Alex, thanks for the great review! We're thrilled your team has been able to accomplish so much with the platform and we love seeing the components that you build and share with the community!

 ### 14. Change on pricing overnight, ghosting on customer support service

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jose Luis M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

It is useful when you don't have time to code a full backed since a lot of features are given straight away.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

They change prices from time to time depending on their business model, so suddenly the bill can be like 4x what you were paying for the same services. So it's not reliable as a long term backend.

Customer support usually respond fast but when you provide all the requested information to fix an issue they just ghost and stops replying emails.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backend features easy to plug in.

 ### 15. Phenomenal Technology and Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Backendless makes developing useful and usable web applications enormously easier than with traditional web dev tools. The support is second-to-none. The UI is so well-designed. I easily geared up to build simple apps in a matter of an hour and more complex apps in days instead of months.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

The documentation needs substantial enhancement. Too many of the answers to my questions require digging through forum topics, which often are not clear or complete.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backendless makes creating and querying databases so easy to do basic data aggregation, summarization, and presentation. The UI Builder makes creating simple data display and query UIs very easy and modern. I get useful tools very quickly that my company can use immediately and enhance iteratively.

 ### 16. Apps made easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt B. | Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

In creating my first app, I chose Backenless, and it was such a great decision to launch myself into the world of successful app owners. The process of storyboarding the UX was second to none. I felt like they were looking out for my investment and the UX and the same time. This company deserves a chance to bid on your project. I recommend them wholeheartedly.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

I really can't think of anything. They were on time and on budget with a great product. If there is one thing to say is, "it's me," I want to done faster than is appropriate, but they managed my timeline expectations exceptionally well.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is a social networking app, and they handled everything. I came up with ideas, and they suggested tweaks for efficiency and improved UX. This project was from idea stage to production.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thanks for the great review, Matt!

 ### 17. Simple application that covers all basic hosting needs

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Noah C. | Backend Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

The support forums/ community is by far the best aspect. Mark pillar is a huge part of this. Knowing you can get a real human to respond you any questions you have is huge.

the support is the main reason we chose backendless over aws or other large services.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

The column sorting in the data browser being tied to the browsers cache. I clear my cache for performance and sometime use other browsers so it would be nice to be able to have a custom default column sort.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

API development

 ### 18. Well put together product that lets you build apps fast and even if you dont know how to code

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leon B. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Very intuitive interface, nice drag and drop builder even for complex logic in the code.
They also have a great product tour to get you familiar with key functions of the program

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Its not completely clear on what the best practice is for using blocks or containers etc in the frontend builder.
Something to give more direction on that would help reduce time working things out yourself.

The other item, is if you have a block in the logic builder that is not connected to something and navigate away, there is no prompt, you just lose that whole block which could have had a bunch of config in it.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is allowing us to build apps to test out our ideas without investing a bunch of development time and cost.
We can quickly create a proof of concept to see if it is something to put more time and money into

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you so much for the positive review and feedback, Leon! Your comments about UI Builder will be shared with our development team so we can work to improve the experience.

 ### 19. New user working through the learning curve.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark C. | Appliance Sales Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

The feature that stands above the rest is their customer service. They have set the bar. Responses to issues are immediate and often come from the founder himself. Extraordinary! Then you add the robust feature set and ease of use, and you have a first-class platform.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Nothing so far.

I have been using Backendless for 1 1/2 months now and in that time I have worked through the product tour to unlock a springboard account. I have developed a proof-of-concept app using the iOS SDK and SwiftUI. I have also deployed a server-side event handler written in Java. All of this was effortless thanks to the ease of use, tools, examples, and customer service.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am developing a technology platform for my Son's business that will consist of a suite of mobile apps tied into a WordPress website. When it became apparent that his vision required a database backend I looked at the options available and determined that Backendless was the best fit. I am pleased with all of the functionality beyond an RDBMS that came with my decision.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Hi Mark, thank you for the kind review! Our support team takes great pride in delivering top tier support, so it's wonderful to receive such high praise!

 ### 20. Great Tool but new pricing system is very difficult to work with

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

The no code logic is great and very powerful.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

The new pricing system is not very predictable and short usage spikes turn out yo be very rxpensive very fast.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No code backend for mobile applications. Easy manageable and easy logic no code moduls.

 ### 21. Flexible, Agile BaaS Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charles F. | Strategy Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

I like the flexible of Backendless. It can handle all things related to backend development, including database, business logic, and notifications. It's nice to learn one tool that meets so many needs.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

I wish authentication was easier. Also, documentation for those using no-code platforms could be more built out similar to how the documentation is built out for the major coding languages.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Traditional development / coding is more complicated than it needs to be. Backendless is helping address this pain point by building a platform that most people will be able to use if they put in the effort. This unlocks innovation and creativity across the board. A net positive for everyone building and everyone using what we build.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the positive review, Charles! We are actively working on Backendless University, an educational site that will consolidate all of our resources to make it easier to navigate our documentation, videos, and articles. Hopefully that will make learning and building easier!

 ### 22. I found what I was looking for and I have the impression there is much more to discover as well

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniele R. | Business Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

The best is that you have to worry only about programming and potentialy you can be live after 5 minutes you have done the registration of the backendless account

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

The free version can be more easy to get after 30 days of trial.

27.08.2022: for my mvp there is much more than i need. I'm very happy.

There is a thing that could be better. I would like to have a more mature function to syncrhonize (merge) different app, I would like to see the detailsof the difference like git or subversion.

**Recommendations to others considering Backendless:**

Ggh

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backendless added an enormous additional potential to my Front end no code project made with thunkable.

I'm more productive and backendless give me the opportunity to limit the fragmentation of my app and save money. For example I m using one signal for push notification but I can use yours.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Hi Daniel, thank you for the review! The functionality that you mentioned is available as part of our app-to-app deployment system. You can read about it at the article linked below (labeled "See how Backendless Improved") and if you have any questions, feel free to post them on our support forum and our team will be happy to assist you!

 ### 23. I have no coding abilities so I have to rely on a no code product.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dave B. | CEO/Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

They have tons of training videos.
The best part is the way you can build your logic with the drag and drop.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

At times it appears you lose connectivity with the server so can lose some of your work.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not seeing any.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Hi Dave, thank you for the review! We're glad our platform has helped you build without coding. Regarding the connectivity issue, this is not something we've heard before so perhaps it's an issue with your ISP. If you continue to see the issue, please share it on our support forum and we'll certainly look into it.

 ### 24. Backendless for a software engineer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jim A. | Mobile app developer-in-training, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Graphical 'language'.
Excellent backend support: DB, file system, cloud coding.
Very good online support.
The feel of a company/system evolving in the right way.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Lack of tools to inspect/debug a software program as a whole.
Need more documentation and/or an index that points to existing written and video documentation.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I selected Backendless as a new and current development system out of 30+ years in software engineering (as part of my electrical engineering practice. Through working with the existing system, staying abreast of enhancements, and working with Support, I'm moving my software practice to the Backendless platform.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thanks for the positive review, Jim! We are currently working on a new searchable educational area of our site, Backendless University, where we plan to consolidate all of our videos and "how to" blog articles. Hopefully this will help!

 ### 25. A handful solution for no-code citizens to develop complex apps and APIs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rafael B. | Reservas, RM e Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Backendless makes it easy and accessible for anyone with no code knowledge to create complex apps and APIs. They have explanatory videos of all the features and possibilities, which makes learning a lot easier.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Tue UI builder could be more friendly and intuitive.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This amazing solution helps entrepreneurs, designers and no-code citizens to develop complex solutions in a very easy and fast way. Considering I am not a developer, but an entrepreneur and UX designer, it helps me a lot.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the positive review, Rafael!

 ### 26. Backendless got me back into coding!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eugene B. | Solutions Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

The comprehensiveness of their videos, support and foresight in their solution. They clearly though through what the no-code world needs.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Nothing. I can literally not fault them on anything. It's an incredible system that offers features exactly when you are looking for it and where.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Improving the complex world of coding and learning multiple languages. I can now design and develop systems in a blink of an eye. From demo to commercial.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the positive review, Eugene! We're thrilled to hear you're enjoying the platform!

 ### 27. A brief review of BackEndless

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaron S. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

BackEndless abstracts away all the boilerplate code that is required to get up and running with a back end for a mobile app, and lets you focus on the business logic for the app. Back end relational data, onboarding and authentication/authorization, file storage, etc. have all been taken care of. In addition to the great functionality, the backendless platform has some great bite sized training videos in the form of "missions" that guide you through implementing various bits of functionality and getting up to speed with the platform. There is an active forum, where you can ask questions when you get stuck, and APIs for popular mobile platforms. If you're looking for an alternative to FireBase, this would be a good option to take a look at.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

The only problem that I ran into with BackEndless was the lack of support for an IP range for the back end. I ran into a case where I needed to call into another API to enable some key functionality, but the API required a whitelist of IP's that it would allow connections from. 95% of the time I don't think this would have been an issue, and was a peculiarity of my particular app, but I thought it bears mentioning.

**Recommendations to others considering Backendless:**

Determine the level of control you need for your backend, and the amount of effort you would be able to put in to get a back end up and running. If you need the finer grained control for a mobile back end you may be more interested in Azure/AWS, but if you prefer getting something up and running quickly, consider BackEndless. BackEndless is well suited for small development teams.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using BackEndless to create a back end for a Xamarin Forms mobile application. It has saved me tons of time getting something up and running. Compared to Azure Web Apps, there is a ton less work required to get something up and going. Compared to FireBase, I prefer the BackEndless relational database support. Administration of permissions and data is also easier with this option in my experience.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the kind review and feedback, Aaron! While there will be some rare edge cases that a development platform like ours may not be able to facilitate, we're glad you have been able to use our platform successfully with a Xamarin Forms frontend.

 ### 28. Power In One Manageable Spot

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jairus L. | Maintenance and Graveyard Clerk, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

It may be called Backendless, but the backend is where I spend most of my time, even in the tutorial. I love how much that I can do and visually see the connections.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

The tutorial needs to update a couple of missions. Plus, it sometimes didn't register that I finished a mission, leaving me trying to "get it right" for hours, when it turned out right all along.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need logical pools and cause-effect, controllable by more than one player. I care much more about the mechanisms than the visual art that I hope to one day accompany it.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the review, Jairus! If there are issues with some of the Missions, please let our team know on our Slack channel or support forum and we'll take a look! The last thing we want is for users to feel like their efforts to learn the platform are not properly rewarded.

 ### 29. The best codeless ever

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Horea M. | Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Basically, you can build the most complicated applications without knowing how to write code. Everything is intuitive and logical. I tried other platforms to build my applications but they are limited or very expensive, but most of all it is not possible to let you build and charge you only after you put the application in production.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

I hate that there is still no way to build an Android or IOS application directly. And I don't like it when the server crashes. It is true that it has been falling less and less lately

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I solved my problem with the application necessary for the development of my business. Application that I am constantly developing according to the specifications that appear permanently.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thanks for the kind review, Horea! You can see in the link below the steps you can take to wrap your Backendless app in a native Flutter shell so that you can publish to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. This is the easiest way to get your apps onto Android and iOS, aside from publishing to the Backendless Viewer app. I hope that helps!

 ### 30. No more boundaries for platforms development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mario G. | Founder and CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

You can integrate WEB and Mobile in a very simple way all the tools are there. The codeless option to program it's great if you know to code or not it's the same and that's very helpful. Mark Piller the CEO of the company it's on call 24/7 he helps me with questions during the weekend!

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

There was a malfunction during the coding process and a loss of a day because the automatic save or the backup was not working properly the support team help me with the problem and everything was back to normal. For 2 years just this only problem.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm in the Access COntrol business and the web and mobile platform it's a must because you have a mobile visitor and some cases web or also mobile concierge with Backendless no problem at all.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the kind review, Mario!

 ### 31. Amazing development platform with great service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jean-Michel L. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

As a non-programmer, I am amazed about what was possible to achieve without coding. We successfully build a registration system for several welfare organizations in the form of a web app. The learning curve was steep but once you go through the informational videos and with help of the support of the amazing Backendless team we were able to get it all to work. We always received quick responses and solutions for the issues we experienced. I think we are just at the beginning of the journey with Backendless because we are only just using a small part of all the possibilities there are with this platform. The fact that we can use a European server was a major plus for our business because of the privacy laws in our country.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Nothing really, we are very happy with the platform and the excellent support.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since 2019 we are managing registration systems but with primitive forms-based systems, Backendless has given us the platform to expand users with a professional qualitative registration system with extensive options. We are receiving many positive feedbacks on our web app from our users.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the kind review, Jean-Michel! We're glad the EU server has been beneficial to you.

 ### 32. The best stack i have used over the years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohammad A. | owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

The support is always there and they go a step beyond to help the customer with any issue they might face. any feature you think is needed just ask and they are always listening. I like how the security level and customization are setup. you have truly anything you could need at your hands with ACL.
the feature I use the most is codeless. it's so easy to visualize the whole flow of the logic with blocks and make changes as you see needed and you dont have to worry about missing a semicolon or a typo.
and the other great feature is the ability to integrate any node module. the sky is the limit here.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Nothing really. I never faced a situation where I felt i can't achieve a goal because of Backendless stack.

**Recommendations to others considering Backendless:**

try it. you will not regret it. one of the best choices i made and i have published my product so I have gone through all the steps to release a product with Backendless.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to develop the full backend of a high complexity mobile app without the need to combine multiple backend solutions. and i was working on the project alone it wasn't an issue at all.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you, Mohammad!

 ### 33. Great low code platform for any business application or just a POC

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexey S. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Gamification of learning process, video tutorials, forum with developers that help with difficult concepts.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Frontend is a bit cumbersome, but solves the purpose.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm working on a POC and can't afford professional developers at the moment.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the positive review, Alexey!

 ### 34. Amazing no-code/low-code platform!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marc C. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

As a software engineer and architect with 25+ years of experience, I am blown away by how powerful, comprehensive, feature-rich, and well-designed Backendless is, from end to end. From UI development, to API services, to the database, to overall performance and scalability, the platform supports and caters to every stage of the application lifecycle, as well as every level of expertise. Beyond offering an incredible platform, the team offers stellar support with fast turnarounds, as well as great training content. We've been developing our application(s) at lightning speed with Backendless and couldn't be happier with the one-stop platform. We're not looking anywhere else for our app development needs. Strongly recommended!

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

It's hard to find anything we dislike about the platform, however I would love to see improved capabilities around multi-language support, client-side debugging, backend stored procedures, long-running tasks, and platform documentation. This being said, the team is super proactive with their roadmap, and very attentive to developer needs, so I expect we'll see nice improvements in the coming months and years.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rapid application development, reduced reliance on highly-specialized developers, and scalability. We're achieving our goals on all fronts. Business execution and performance is on the up and up!

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you so much for your kind words, Marc! We hear you on platform documentation, and we will be delivering much more documentation this month (May 2022) and going forward. We are particularly planning to expand written documentation on UI Builder and Codeless blocks, which should make mastering the intricacies of the platform much easier!

 ### 35. Money saver -+ Feature rich + Excellent support + Reliable system + Easy & fun to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

My company started using Backendless many years ago (from 2014). We used it for 2 big projects for about 8 years, both educational and games, targeted at teachers and children. (The apps were closed down recently, but to no fault of Backendless's - they've always been "faultless":-)

The things we love about Backendless:
- Very feature rich
- Proven track record
- Excellent and high quality support
- Reliable system
- Easy and fun to use
- Best of all: saves app developers a lot of time and money!

As a small development company without the budget and resources to develop and manage complex backend systems, Backendless was a huge headache and cost and time saver for us.

Since then they seem to have expanded their feature list to be even larger and have a visual no-code interface for building even front-ends. I can only imagine how much more this will help new individuals and businesses wanting a one-stop solution for developing everything from the front to the backend whether it be a mobile app or web app.

And to top it off, the CEO Mark and his team are really knowledgable and helpful so you know you're in good hands.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

There was nothing we disliked about their products and services.

**Recommendations to others considering Backendless:**

Give it a go! You will enjoy the experience and benefits it brings you.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avoiding and saving cost, time and resources required by backend development and infrastructure management.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the kind words, Simon. It' been great having you as a customer for past, and hopefully future, projects!

 ### 36. Takes time to learn, but great functionality

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leonard L. | Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

I like the range of functions available in the builder. It seems that Backendless can build just about any type of application.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

I think that the design features in the builder can be significantly improved and the documentation isn't great, learning the codeless is still basically coding.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backendless has helped build a complete web application compared to other builders do not have near the functionality and make it difficult to incorporate your data sets

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the review, Leonard! We understand that some would like to see additional written documentation for UI Builder, so it is something we are actively working on. Of course, we offer two complete UI Builder video courses on our YouTube channel (linked below), along with courses on Codeless development and User Management plus many other video tutorials. If there's anything that is not adequately covered in those videos, feel free to ask about it on our support forum and our team will be happy to help. Also, please leave suggestions for documentation you'd like to see so that we know what we can provide to help!

 ### 37. Backendless review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ramon R. | Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

It's an end-to-end solution for my projects.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

It could a bit more widgets and controls but the team is adding and updating the UI Builder frequently.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is fast-tracking some of the solutions that I need to deliver to clients.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the positive review, Ramon! We're working hard to add new components to our UI Builder, including 15 added in the last month alone (linked below). We're also opening up the marketplace to allow users to contribute their own, so we hope to see many more in the near future. Definitely keep checking on a regular basis!

 ### 38. Quite disappointed in the performance and backend functionality

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Really active customer support. Friendly and supportive community. Good idea about making the backend automated and easier to set up. Mostly using business logic, login functionality, and the database for the users.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Well, to be honest, we were not too thrilled about the performance of Backendless. The reliability of the service really caused us some problems along the way, when it simply did not work for some periods of time during our presentations, but then it would get back to work after a few hours. Now it seems to be maybe more stable, but I don't really have a lot of confidence due to past issues. Also, a lot of functionality I expected to be built-in, like, the ability to resend email confirmations for new users, etc. But I was constantly directed by customer support to implement my own business logic functions to achieve the desired result. So overall, somehow disappointed I would say :)

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We started using it in order to quicken the process of starting our own website with the login system and custom user information

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Hi there. We are very to sorry to hear you had a few bad experiences with downtime on the platform and that it was not built to do everything you need for you with no development on your part at all. While we respect that these issues may be enough to make the platform not ideal for your use case, they hardly seem worthy of such a low review. We would be happy to discuss ways we can make your experience with the platform better, but unfortunately in order to achieve the best results, you will need to build some functionality yourself. We give you all of the tools you need to build nearly anything, if you have the time and desire to do the development. We do our best to make learning to use these tools as easy as possible, and our support team is quick to answer questions when they come up. We do hope you reconsider your evaluation as we feel it is very harsh given the relatively minor issues you described. We also hope you give the platform another look - if you are not currently still using it - as we are making improvements and updates very frequently.

 ### 39. Perfect for startup businesses

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luc Z. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

UI Builder, it makes it very easy for a non-coder to build an application with a lot of complex logic and good design.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Publishing to native app is difficult at the moment, and doesn't seem easily achievable for a non-coder

**Recommendations to others considering Backendless:**

It will take time to learn how it works, so prepare for a learning curve

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The cost and speed of software development done in a traditional manner with an in house team or consultants is too much for many startups and you have to make many compromises to build an MVP, in our case there were so many compromises that it wasn't of much value. With Backendless there is no compromise, as a startup founder you can build the app exactly as you need it to perform.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you, Luc! We're glad you have been able to build complex MVPs with our platform. We understand that publishing on mobile can be complex for a non-coder (particularly when using the Flutter shell), but all UI Builder apps are easy to make mobile responsive and will work well on any mobile browser. Additionally, we have the Backendless Viewer app (detailed in the link below) that enables you to publish your app to our native mobile Viewer app. Your users can then favorite your app in Viewer and it becomes a de facto mobile version of your app. I hope you give it a look!

 ### 40. Fast deployment and scalable solutions for the backend

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

The low setup time. Libraries are available for major platforms and we could get our app up and running in almost no time. The backend UI is easy to use and data modification is simple even in the UI.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Sometimes we feel limited in the possibility to optimize queries and so on. The predefined libraries make it not always possible to select between solutions. Since it acts as an abstraction on a DB engine not all features is accessible to the developer.

**Recommendations to others considering Backendless:**

Look at the documentation, and check available libraries. If you do not see limitations go for it!

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A database backend for iOS and Android apps. Primarily for storage from an external source (API) and then making this data available in our apps. Our goal for the current version of the app was a backend for which we did not have to manually create an OAuth API.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the review and feedback. If there are libraries or solutions that you need that are unavailable, we'd love to hear about it. Please post what you're looking for on our support forum (linked below) so our team can either offer a solution, or add it to our future roadmap.

 ### 41. Awesome platform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos H. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Easy use of databases for non-programmers

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

You still need some foundations on programming

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The difficulty of building an application without knowing how to code

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thanks for the positive review, Carlos! Be sure to check out our Fundamentals of Codeless Programming course on YouTube if you haven't already (linked below). If you think there are other elements of programming that we could explain better to new users, please let us know on our support forum or Slack channel!

 ### 42. Very powerful no-code solution with great service

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

The Backendless team have put together an extremely powerful plateform. It makes for easier and faster development with very few constraints and a lot of possibilities. Whether front-end design or database and API, or even server-side code, it's all possible, in multiple programming languages, but most importantly with Codeless, their home-grown visual logic design. But that's not all, the team is always there to help customers and they provide very reactive support, even to users like me who have started designing their product but not launched yet. I haven't started paying Backendless yet, and they have provided a lot of quality help.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

I have discovered Backendless only 6 months ago, and judging from the support forums, the product has gained a lot of maturity in the last years. There are still some enhancements which could make the developer's work easier and faster, like being able to copy-paste from one component or page to another, and importing external data in a more user-friendly fashion. But the team is working on it and they are getting there. The platform is already pretty mind-blowing ! Also, the written documentation is sometimes lacking. There are tons of videos but I prefer reading to video-watching.

**Recommendations to others considering Backendless:**

I strongly suggest doing the initial "missions", which makes getting up to speed faster.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backendless enables me to set up an entire database and API in a snap, without having to deal with any infrastructure or scaling issues. The UI builder and their Codeless tools enable me to prototype and build an end product faster than if I had to code it all.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the feedback! In fact, a number of items in the "dislike" section are high priorities on our roadmap. For example, we released an update at the end of April providing improved copy/paste functionality for Codeless blocks. This allows you to copy all or some of the Codeless logic from one component in UI Builder and paste it into another. Additionally, we will be publishing improved written documentation for UI Builder and Codeless blocks this month (May 2022) because that is a very frequently requested item. We hope this will help you get your app to launch even faster!

 ### 43. Efficient Solution to build mobile and web applications!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

It is a significant solution package with a complete set of features for developing mobile and web applications with the backend. Being a backend developer I use backendless for developing APIs. Making documentation of the APIs and sharing it with other developers is also made very simple. The best thing about it is that we can test frontend and backend communication without integrating the APIs. Multiple user support is also a great feature.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

The User Interface should be improved. Sometimes it gets a little messy when a lot of data is being loaded. You need to have coding knowledge up to some extent to use its features.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been creating backend APIs for mobile and web applications using Backendless. It is a very smooth experience, creating and testing APIs, creating documentation and examples, so your team can test the APIs, Integrating APIs with the frontend and the best part is you don't need to integrate APIs and can test your website harmoniously. Plus multiple users can work on a project simultaneously.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for sharing your use case with API development, Ganeev!

 ### 44. Great from protoyping to production

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua P. | Engineering Director, Mobile, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Backendless is a robust system that makes working with mobile applications a great experience.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Nothing comes to mind. A very pleasant product to work with.

**Recommendations to others considering Backendless:**

Make use of the Slack channel - great, helpful resources are there.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I write mobile applications that require an API / remote Data store. For the application work I do, I would normally need a backend dev to assist, but Backendless is intuitive enough that I was able to create teh schema and interactions I needed

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the kind review, Joshua!

 ### 45. Most comprehensive codeless platform available with brilliant tutorials to navigate the platform.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben S. | Managing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

The Intuitive interfaces, and inclusion of a relational database system.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Challenging to understand the logic initially

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows faster development of the GUI, which can have massive impacts on projects. Love the API

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the positive review, Ben!

 ### 46. Well Organized and Structured Product for building web applications with APIs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mehak C. | Digital Marketing Executive, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

It gives us a very systematic approach to develop APIs for mobile and web applications. We can create our own workplace where different users can work on the same thing at the same time. We can create and share API documentation with other developers. The best thing about it is that we can test functionalities without frontend integration.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

Coding skills are needed up to some extent to use this software. The user interface is a little messy which can be sorted out for a better experience.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building APIs for web applications. Team workplace is the best feature, as multiple developers can interact and work at the same time. Saving API request examples and sharing documentation is also made very efficient. Testing different features of the website without API integration is also a helpful feature.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you, Mehak! We're glad you've been able to benefit from our team-oriented development approach, particularly for creating APIs.

 ### 47. Excellent start up platform for those on a low budget

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Backendless takes a huge chunk of the uncertainty of backend infrastructure out of the equation when starting a new app project, it scales with your app and provides a very useful api that can be leveraged easily.

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

We've had quite a few occasions where we need to escalate to support because of various code that didn't work on the backendless side, especially when developing server-side apis in Java. That said, the support team are always on hand via slack and the support forum and generally fix issues pretty quickly!

**Recommendations to others considering Backendless:**

Give it a try, they have a great sandbox free plan that you can develop with!

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using backendless we created a venue finding app in the UK that leveraged backendless's unlimited scaling infrastructure and super handy location-based query ability in the db.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the kind words! We pride ourselves on providing the best support in the no-code industry, so we're pleased to hear we've been able to help anytime an issue was discovered. And thanks for shouting out the Springboard Plan (aka development sandbox)!

 ### 48. Backendless offers an all in one solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stefan J. | Freelancer Android Dev, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

I mostly like the codeless part, where you can build your backend just like playing a puzzle game. :)

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

I would not say dislike, but rather a suggestion. The overall documentation can be improved.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an Android Developer, it's good to know that you don't need to have an experience as a front-end developer, to be able to create a website with backendless.

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the kind review, Stefan! We are currently working on updating and expanding our written documentation significantly as we have heard this feedback from a number of users. We've begun with new written docs for UI Builder, linked below.

 ### 49. Backendless Review

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

- Quick to set up.
- Lots of features out of the box.
- Some pretty well thought out tools utilities
-incredible support

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

- Hard limitations when trying to do advanced things.
- Documentation is lacking/out of date in areas.
- The pricing structure can force awkward development patterns; need to engineer to reduce billing, rather than engineer the simplest solution.

**Recommendations to others considering Backendless:**

A great prototyping tool. Can also be used in production. Be careful about doing very very complex stuff; you may hit awkward limitations.

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Building a custom CRM
- Built a warehouse management system
- Various small-scale prototypes
- permissions system needs to have a repo!

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Hi Luke, thank you for the review and the constructive feedback. We are currently in the process of updating and expanding our documentation significantly, including adding written docs for UI Builder (linked) to go along with our video documentation. Regarding the "limitations' you mention, if there is something specific you have run into, please share it with us on our support forum as there may be something we can do to assist.

 ### 50. Good services, slow support, weird database

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Backendless?**

Have most of the services required for a small or medium application size

**What do you dislike about Backendless?**

The way to extract information from data tables, sometimes is not easy as a relational database. Also, at the beginning in my development, some functionalities (like push notifications for Android and Apple) doesn't work properly

**Recommendations to others considering Backendless:**

The data storage is something to consider, if the data is complex, probably you will need another service

**What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An easy way to deliver Augmented reality to our customers to sell different kinds of products like shoes, cloth, etc. When I analyzed the platform at the design time, Backendless offered Unity support, that was the key point to select the cloud provider

**Official Response from Christopher Fanchi:**

> Thank you for the feedback! We understand that it can be somewhat difficult to work with the database at first blush, but we cover database interaction in great detail on our YouTube channel. Particularly, in our Codeless Fundamentals course (linked below), we go into great detail about working with data using Codeless logic, which includes server-side logic and logic built into your APIs. If you haven't had a chance to review that course, we highly recommend it!
