## Audacity Reviews
 ### 1. Indispensable Tool for Indie Artists

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raine C. | Raine Carosin, Arts and Crafts, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2026

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I love Audacity. It helps me trim my music to get out rough spots and smooth the production. I love its simplicity—it was easy to start and learn how to use it. It's become an app that I have to have on my computer for any audio trimming. I really value Audacity. Plus, it helps me trim AI music to a suitable size and convert the format of music to a WAV or MP3 and adjust the sample rates. It's actually an all-rounder and a very valuable asset to own. The initial setup was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

There is nothing that I dislike about Audacity.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Audacity to trim music, remove rough spots, and smooth production. It helps convert music to formats like WAV or MP3 and ensure correct sample rates for platforms.

 ### 2. Unbeatable Free, Open-Source Audio Editor That Gets the Job Done

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

As a free, open-source audio editor, nothing else on the market really competes with it. Whether I’m editing audio or putting tracks together, it’s a resource-light and effective solution that gets the job done.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The UI definitely leaves something to be desired, and the menus/UI are a bit clunky and confusing for someone who doesn't know much or work in audio software often.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity is a solution for working with audio and needing to make quick edits or recordings in the field - it is something I can literally download on any computer I work with and know that it will be reliable right off the bat.

 ### 3. Audacity Makes Audio Editing Simple, Though Occasional Noise Issues Persist

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** KOSTIANTYN S. | Creative Copywriter, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Twenty-eight years ago, when I wanted to mix audiotracks, it required asking a friend who had equipment with a CD player and a microphone. Hardly anyone could suggest a way to work with music for one's own needs and not waste extra time.
Now, Audacity has simplified the mastering. It places functions that the user requires in a single panel with numerous drop-down menus. When the main track is recorded via, e.g., through the smartphone, you upload it and use it as a basis to create a project. Then, it works as a constructor where you compile tracks and use effects on them. This simplicity is what I like best, and furthermore—what I make with soundtracks using effects and filters.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Sporadically, the result is not the same as what you expected, e.g., some noise appears in the track, making it sound like an old gramophone's sound. When I was making a musical greeting for my parents' wedding anniversary, it was so. But this effect may be a benefit if you intend to create a nostalgic mood.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity mixes audio tracks to make effects used in ads, e.g., or create greetings that will not be forgotten.

 ### 4. Great for Beginners, But Lacks Speed

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I use Audacity for producing a podcast (over 300 episodes) and it has worked well to remove noises from my audio files and balance the sound for a professional final output. I like the price point since it is free for the ways I use it, and that is hard to beat. The Noise removal feature is great for eliminating normal background noises like A/C or heater sounds. The Normalize and Compression features have become essential steps in creating a professional-sounding podcast. The initial setup was very simple.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I would like it if the features I use were a bit quicker while they process my audio files.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Audacity to remove background noises like A/C sounds and to balance my podcast audio for a professional outcome. I have edited over 300 podcast episodes with ease because of the functionality of Audacity. I have a set routine that allows for consistent audio output for my podcast episodes.

 ### 5. Effortless Mastery and Crystal-Clear Perfection for Soundboard Recording

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David L. | Senior Campaign Manager, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I was able to master the software completely, even though I had no prior experience. I used it to record scripts for OB marketing calls as part of our older soundboard campaigns. What stood out to me was how clearly the software explained each step as I experimented with the settings, which made it easy to create perfectly recorded soundboard calls for our agents.

I write outbound calling scripts for soundboard users. Since its soundboard, I literally record the different prompts in my voice, cut them up, and upload them to our crm. There is nothing to log into in audacity. Its use for us is just hitting record and recording.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I was disappointed that while recording, if you made a mistake with one of the extra tonation features, you couldn't just fix that part. You had to either keep the recording as it was or re-record the whole script if you wanted to adjust a feature.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This tool allowed me to record virtually every possible response an agent might need during an outbound call with a prospect. Since my agents were based in India, Belize, and Mexico, having my distinctly American voice pre-recorded for their calls was crucial in keeping leads engaged and on the line.

 ### 6. Free and Handy for Basic Edits, but the Interface Takes Getting Used To

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amedee A. | Digital Learning & Process Support, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I used Audacity some time ago when I needed to edit few audio files. Nothing complicated, just cut parts, clean a bit the sound and export. For this it was ok. Also it is free, so easy to try.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

At first it was a bit confusing. Not very clear where to click and interface looks old. I had to try few times to understand simple things.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped me fix some recordings when I needed it. I didn’t use it often, only from time to time. Now I don’t really use it anymore.

 ### 7. Great Results without Breaking the Bank!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mandy H. | T, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

As a music teacher, I am always looking for innovative ways to keep my middle-schoolers engaged. I had discovered Audacity through a college course years ago, and I had used it for my own personal projects, as well. Naturally, I knew this would be of benefit to my students, so I requested that our IT department add it to my computer (as permission was needed). They complied, and I was able to get started creating units for my students to utilize it! The best part of all of it is that it is free software... but it works! It is easy to create, upload, download, and work through everything.

Because it is so easy, neither I nor my students had any difficulties. Implementing it into our music studies routine has been a breeze. While they didn't get to use it extremely frequently, it was great for a project and to keep my students engaged.

We use it for one unit, approximately a few days; however, I have new students each marking period. This means it does get used pretty regularly.

I cannot attest to customer support, as I have yet to need it. However, the level of care they put into this program makes me believe that customer support would be of great help.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I cannot say enough good things about Audacity. I don't think that it would be fair to say there is something I dislike. I imagine if I delved deeper into the programming, I could find flaws. However, I'm not interested in finding flaws. It works great.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is a quick and easy software program to utilize. I use it personally and professionally. It helps me create my own things, as well as my students. This is a huge win.

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2026

 ### 10. Professional-Grade Results from Free Software - Audacity Delivers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hans A. | Research and Development Editor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

As someone with extensive experience using various professional audio editing programs throughout my career, I can confidently say Audacity holds its own against many paid alternatives. Having worked with industry-standard software, I appreciate Audacity's straightforward approach to audio editing.
What I like most:
Despite being free, Audacity delivers professional-quality results. The interface is refreshingly clean compared to some bloated commercial programs I've used. It handles multiple audio formats flawlessly - something I've seen expensive software struggle with. The program's stability is exceptional; I've never experienced crashes or data corruption, which unfortunately can't be said for all professional-grade alternatives.
Key strengths from a professional perspective:
•	Reliability: Rock-solid performance that rivals paid software
•	Format versatility: Seamless import/export across all major audio formats
•	User interface: Intuitive design that doesn't sacrifice functionality
•	Price point: Unbeatable value - completely free with professional capabilities
•	Learning curve: Quick to master, even for complex editing tasks

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Professional limitations:
While Audacity excels at core editing functions, it lacks some advanced features found in high-end professional suites. The visual effects library and certain specialized filters aren't as comprehensive as premium alternatives like Pro Tools or Adobe Audition. However, for 90% of professional audio editing tasks, these limitations are negligible.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This results are quick and much easier to use as the time consuming programs that I use professionally. It suffices in it's procedures for tasks that I need immediately.

 ### 11. Crystal Clear Recordings and Effortless Usability

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kenya M. | Freelance writer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

It's easy to use and the recordings are always clear.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

There's really nothing that I dislike about it.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sometimes I make recordings to communicate with people because typing out an email would take too long. When I'm talking to someone overseas, it helps to communicate often without worrying about time zones and phone charges.

 ### 12. Best Professional Software for Serious Users

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vaibhav S. | published researcher and Github guy, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Best professional software for music recording and editing.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Newer add ons are more commercially inclined but that is not a bad thing

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Use for music publishing, LibriVox

 ### 13. Incredible. Premium quality in a free one.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** César G. | P, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

It is software that is easy to obtain, simple to install, and offers a myriad of functions that are not even provided by others at a cost. Being free not only saves us an expense, but it is also widely distributed software, making it easy to find usage tutorials on various video platforms. Another feature to highlight is its versatility with formats, which makes me use it very frequently to enhance all kinds of audio.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Its aesthetic looks a bit old-fashioned, however, I like that it doesn't change much, as I work faster since I already know its structure.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity is one of those software programs that doesn't cause problems but rather is the solution to problems. In my case, as I usually create video tutorials, the software I use for screen recording has very poor audio, but for that, I use Audacity, and in the end, I just sync both audios. Since I work in an office, my audio recordings tend to be a bit messy due to mouse clicks or static, but Audacity helps me eliminate that noise.

 ### 14. Very basic software for beginnners

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Himanshu K. | Youtuber, Individual & Family Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I like the comfort and easyness. It is very easy to remove noise and edit your audios. Anyone can operate this software without any knowledge. It gives you full control to manually edit your voice like a pro.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

There should be some Ai feature which can make the process more easy.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It s helping me to record my voice overs for my youtube videos. I use to record once in a week and I don't need to apply my brain everytime. It works super smooth and the menus are very efficiently presented.

 ### 15. Easiest audio software to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2024

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

It's free! Also, it does 90% of things that any other audio editor does. Features are easily laid out and easy to access. You can get up and running on this within an hour with a couple of youtube tutorials. We use it every week for our videos.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The interface is a bit dated, but it's understandable because the functionality is amazing. It's kind of a good thing, actually, because you don't have to re-orient yourself to the program with each update.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to record audio for the videos that we provide to students, and Audacity lets us record audio separately and cut it together with the video so the quality is better.

 ### 16. Decent tool for Podcast Editing and Basic Music Mixing. Unsuitable at an Intermediate/Advanced Level

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is a great tool to edit podcasts with noise cancellation, and for basic sound and music editing. Can easily mix multiple tracks and adjust tempo, pitch, cut and paste the sounds to make it complete etc

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The user interface is not at all user friendly. Audacity does not have a lot of features required for proper audio mixing and mastering, and even the existing features are not easy to find because of the poor user interface. For example, audio automation, automation for panning to adjust settings within a single track is not possible. Not an easy tool to use. Cannot import a file which is not in mp3 format.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps in basic editing of podcasts and music with track layering, editing, noise reduction etc.

 ### 17. Making Audio Editing Easy!

**Reviewed by:** Jordan W. | Account Manager, Events Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I am constantly using audacity to record audio for our companies help videos. It makes it so to record and then add effects to really make the audio pack a punch.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The layout of the buttons could be a little more user friendly but it still works.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With audacity we no longer have poor audio in our company help videos.

 ### 18. Audacity is ok for beginners starting out and learning how to edit audio.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bethany Beulah S. | Cashier , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I like the fact that Audacity is free and easy for audio editing, however, there are some things about it that we would need to do in order to make it a great tool for producing our own music.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I dislike the fact that you have to insert your own plugins in order to make it more like music production software, but it'd still a good start for beginners. I started using Audacity in 2010 and ever since then I have learned how to mix and master music.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I believe it has made some better improvements and it has gotten easier to use. I would actually recommend that the founder of this product developing an app for it.

 ### 19. Powerful and Fun: Audacity - Your Best Free Audio Editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohamed Hosni J. | Freelance, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

The user interface is incredibly sleek and fascinating! Once I received a bit of assistance regarding terminology and utilizing this software for my voice-over needs, I was thoroughly impressed with its potential! Experimenting with and refining the audio I upload is quite enjoyable! I also adore the additional section at the conclusion that prompts if you desire to expand upon the details of your exported files. This feature aids me in maintaining comprehensive records and recalling my prior auditions much more effectively.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

It's possible that there's something I haven't uncovered yet, but I find it a bit tedious to navigate back to the initial part of a file. I desire a return to the beginning option for an audio track. Presently, I work with relatively brief tracks, but I would appreciate the ability to conveniently go back to the start for more seamless adjustments.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity solves several problems and greatly benefits its users. Firstly, it addresses the need to shorten or tighten up audio, as well as the ability to combine multiple audio tracks seamlessly. This versatility makes it an excellent tool for professional presentations, where background music can be sculpted to match the overall display.

Personally, Audacity has been a game-changer for my voice-acting career. Prior to discovering this free and accessible software, I struggled to find a tool that could enhance the clarity and conciseness of my work. Despite initial skepticism about its usability, Audacity has exceeded my expectations in terms of capabilities. It has allowed me to kickstart my voice-acting career and receive positive feedback from project heads and directors who also appreciate its features.

 ### 20. The classic open source audio editing software that's got a tough learning curve but lots of power

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jen F. | Comics Writer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity's jam-packed with features, and it's free. I've used it to reduce noise, improve "click" for ASMR, limit peaks, and even convert mp4s to mp3 without significant quality loss. That's pretty good for free software, and I haven't even scratched the surface of its abilities in 10+years of using it.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

It took me a REALLY long time to understand Audacity and sound editing in general. I'm sure there's software out there that's got a better, more user-friendly UI so users can improve sound quality without becoming sound engineers. I just doubt that software's free.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Need quality audio for YouTube videos; used to need quality audio for music, and because I no longer have a Mac (which really is the preferred music editing OS), I need a different free option.

I will say I DIDN'T like the new UI update, but that's because I'm a grumpy lady who prefers things not to change.

 ### 21. Powerful audio editing tool and free!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

For being a free and also simple software, it is a robust and precise tool for editing audio tracks and creating multitrack projects for editing, sound design, and even sound post-production due to its various effects. It also allows recording sound from a sound card or microphone with all the technical requirements. It is easy to implement, very intuitive, and the exported tracks can be integrated with other DAW software.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Being free, it is understood that it has its limits. But if you are starting out in the world of audio and sound production in general (as a business venture or during your studies), it is a tool that supports the basic needs of editing.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

And the best part is I use it record the audio in multiple tracks. Its free and open source so I don't have to spend $$ on any monthly subscription.

It would be great if it have more features like Adobe Audition. But as it's free it the best in its free and open source software league.

 ### 26. As Fun & Effective as I Need It To Be!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica B. | Preschool Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

The interface is very smooth and intriguing! Once I got a little guidance on terminologies and how to use this program for my needs in voice-acting, I was pleased with what it's capable of! Messing with and cleaning up the audio I submit is rather fun! I also love the added tab at the end that asks if you want to extend the details of your files when exporting. This helps me keep things noted and remember my previous auditions a lot better

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

This may be something that I haven't discovered yet, but when I'm going back to the beginning of a file, it's a little time-consuming to do so. I wish there was a ''jump back to the start'' of an audio track. Right now, I create rather short tracks but I'd like to be able to head back to the beginning to make adjustments a bit easier.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've not been able to get into voice-acting, not even remotely as I've never had access to something that can help my work be more clear and more concise. When I was advised to use Audacity and even told it was free to use, I was a bit skeptical that it would be hard to navigate, but with it and how it exceeds my expectations in capabilities, I'm able to finally kick off my voice-acting career! I love it and love how I get so many project heads/directors that LOVE it as well and I can use it!

I'm still learning every day what is available in Audacity, but so far I've learned how to trim (with an insanely easy-to-use method that is very easy, helps me get through multiple auditions in a given time period) and I love the effects I can use such as wobbles, echos, robotic sounds while at the same time feeling I'm learning about the fundamentals of sound! So, not only is it fun and easy to use, I feel educated once I sit with someone virtually and learn from them what all I can do with it!

 ### 27. easy to use!!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katherine F. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

user-friendly and get's down to the nitty gritty in terms of timing.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

had to watch a video to understand it but once did, was seamless!

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

podcast editing with ease!

 ### 28. Powerful, free DAW for audio editing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bob H. | Digital Cloud Sr. Technical Program Manager, PMO, CSM, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

The best thing about Audacity is its price. The second best thing is the feature set. Just because it is free does not mean it isn't powerful.
Audacity does for sound what PhotoShop does for pictures and images.
Install the package, set up audio output, and within minutes you can be recording and editing any audio.
If you plug in a microphone, you can edit that. Or, begin with a WAV file or an MP3.
Audacity can also utilize plugins for effects to shape vocals or instrument tracks.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Audacity doesn't work with MIDI files or MIDI instruments (such as keyboards). But, if the keyboard sends audio (e.g., a digital piano), you can record and edit that audio.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sometimes audio needs to be shortened or tightened up. Sometimes it needs to be combined with other audio. This tool also works well for professional presentations, to add music in the background, which can be sculpted to match the display.

 ### 29. Audacity: Audio editing tool - Not bad for free

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick R. | Manager of Development Services, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

The best things about Audacity are that it is free and cross-platform. I can use it on my Mac and PC and it provides the same familiar UI on both. It's pretty obvious how the basic features work and it does what I need.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The UI is pretty ugly. I bet I have used Audacity on and off for over 20 years and it looks almost the same as when I started. It would be nice if there was an option to apply skins or at least a dark mode.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity allows you to edit audio recordings and convert between formats. Beyond that, you can apply effects like a limiter or echo. You can also generate basic waveforms like sine waves and white noise.

 ### 30. The world's most useful audio software, but could use a new look.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brannon C. | Senior Video Editor & Cinematographer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I love the extensive and easy to use toolset that Audacity has to offer. And the price is free, so you can't NOT use it. I think it's one of the best audio programs out there, considering the price and effects library.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I think the GUI could use a massive update. I think it not being as flashy as other audio editing programs might put people off, and make them think that it's outdated, even though it's powerful.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Every so often, we need to remove hiss and crackle from sound recordings, as well as apply EQ. Audacity helps us punch up our audio quality in the post production end. It really helps bring a great feeling of quality to our overall production value.

 ### 31. User friendly but sometimes finicky

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rachna M. | Research Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

It's easy to trim videos and audio files and cut them to share specific snips of it with certain clients.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Sometimes the scroll bar to trim at a specific moment doesn't toggle properly and it takes a few attempts.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I conduct interviews and focus groups and am able to trim the files in Audacity.

 ### 32. Audacity: Best Audio Enhancement and Audio Editing Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rajat S. | Senior System Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is one of the simplest but most powerful tools I have ever used. It has all the features that paid one provides. The best part of Audacity is Macros. I have created multiple Macros that help me partially automate my task. Like In just one click, I can apply all the filters with specific values. It works like magic. Macro saves me lots of time. It has a feature that detects the background noise and removes it from the audio. Audacity performs well; till now, I have not felt any performance issue. As compared to the other software, its size and installation process is straight forward. I love Audacity because it's free; no business licensing is required to use it.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I have not found any issue in Audacity. It helps me do all of my tasks effortlessly.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Audacity to edit and enhance audio for our client's promotional or informative videos to look more professional.

 ### 33. Solid free audio tool for beginners

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Simplicity, and ease of use has been key for using Audacity. Especially for someone who isn't an audio pro, it's been an easy learning curve.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I'm sure it's limited in it's capabilities for a more seasoned professional. It is a little annoying how I usually need to convert my files to wav from m4a each time.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An easy and efficient tool for audio editing. A tool that allows for quick turnarounds when creating content.

 ### 34. Best Podcast Editing Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex G. | Managing Principal and Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is a simple, easy-to-use, and FREE audio editing program. I use it for both of my shows and prefer it to everything else I have tried.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

It can get glitchy at times, but the developers fix problems quickly.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity helps me affordably crank out more than 150 podcast episodes a year. It saves me time and is a quality product.

 ### 35. Audacity is One of the best and popular Audio Editor and Equalizer Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** stevie d. | Software Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

The feature I like the most in Audacity is its easy to remove the background noise, just select a small clip of the background so that Audacity can easily detect the particular audio frequency and remove it. It works like a charm and remove the noise within seconds. I also use the audio effect to get the deepen voice by adding base and tribble. Nest part of Audacity is it is free and have the same features like paid one. Easy to download less than 25MB and straight forward installation. Can easily automate some repeated task by macros.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

It's been 3+ year and still I have not able to find any cons of audacity. Nothing to dislike in Audacity.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the biggest problem that Audacity solves is Background audio noise remove. After removing the background noise and changing the Audio pitch to deep its sounds more professional as compared to raw audio.

 ### 36. Easy to manipulate and best used for mixing music

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jedd Claurence L. | Rich Media Producer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

It helps me mix my music faster and easier.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Hard to collaborate with other people and you need to save it to send it to a friend, it could have something where you can review the music with friends online.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me combing music faster and it is easy to trim and cut song and blend them

 ### 37. Great free software for mixing. Especially good two track editor.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David C. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Free! Yay! and quite good editor for two tracks for basic editing. I use it with Fruity Loops 20. I like that it has a simple interface, decent work flow for editing and good sound quality with recording tracking.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Not as useful for beats as fl20, but they work in combination well. Some editing takes longer to do than if you know what you are doing in something like logic pro, but logic pro costs money and has a steeper learning curve.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mixing and editing and tracking recording. It is a great free solution. good for 2 track editing and recording. I have been more productive lately. This is good software.

 ### 38. Audacity is a powerful and multifaced tool for audio editing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chandani P. | Senior Data associate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

It supports multiple audio formats and allows me to perform various editing tasks, such as cutting, copying, and pasting audio sections, adjusting volume levels, applying numerous effects and filters, removing background noise, and more. This is what I like best about Audacity

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The one thing that I can say need improvement is it's visual. There are other software with better and more polished graphical interfaces.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need basic editing and intermediate skills, so I would not like to invest money. Audacity provides me with exactly what I need, which is open source. This helps me solve many problems and benefits me by not spending extensive money.

 ### 39. Great tool to manipulate Audio and create multitrack projects.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yuvraj R. | Senior Video Editor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity lets me record audio directly through my computer's microphone or other input sources. I can control the recording parameters, such as sample rate and bit depth, to achieve the desired quality.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Audacity's compatibility with specific audio formats or codecs can sometimes be limited. This could result in difficulties when importing or exporting files in particular forms, especially those that are proprietary or less commonly used.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity can perform basic to intermediate audio editing tasks; professional-grade software does not have some advanced features. I need some advanced noise reduction algorithms, high-end audio effects, or complex automation which Audacity lacks to solve for me.

 ### 40. Great experience for a free Audio Editor

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Niaz M. | Audio Video Technician, Video Editor and Content Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I like that audacity is lightweight, easy to use and to the point. It is not bloated with unnecessary features. It is fast and has all the right tools to do quick edits to your audio.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I don't particularly appreciate that audacity is limited regarding live previews of the effects you apply. You can only hear the preview before using it for a limited time. And there is no way to disable the feature on the go as the audio is permanently changed when you apply it.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mixing and Mastering audio for podcasts. It is easy to remove background noise without sacrificing quality. Audacity has one of the cleanest noise removal tools.

 ### 41. Lightweight and ease of entry

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carl C. | Training/eLearning Design Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Besides being a free product, Audacity is a relatively quick and lightweight application that gets the job done without getting mired in extra little-used features.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Since Audacity is freeware, the support services are different and more self-serve than a paid software product. This is typically not an issue depending on the ability of the user to find solutions if a problem arises.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity enables our team to clean audio for use in our applications and training quickly. This allows us to streamline our workflow and push out as much of the basic editing to entry-level users as well.

 ### 42. I love Audacity and rely on it for my podcast

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam M. | Senior Enterprise Account Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Its so easy to use you can teach yourself. It's truly brilliant, fast, simple and free. It takes no time to load and learn and you can create podcasts in minutes.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Nothing. It's literally perfect. There isn't anything I would change about audacity. However, I have seen very little benefit from the updates released recently.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to use audio editing meaning I can get my podcast out within minutes and not hours. And it is easy to use with the file formats and convert into the file formats I need.

 ### 43. Solid recording interface that you will use for life!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is easy to record into, using pretty much any microphone. Editing is intuitive and user-friendly. The effects library is great, particularly the noise reduction feature.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Sometimes zooming in and out of different zones is a bit disorienting. However, this is not a deal-breaker; there's not much that I dislike!

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Audacity for personal musical editing and have done so for 25+ years. I also now use it to edit voice-over recordings for eLearning modules. It has helped me do precision editing and noise reduction effectively.

 ### 44. Straightforward tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mundo D. | Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

It's reliable (it never fails, always a last resort when any other tool crashed) and it's really straightforward to use.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

It only has audio features, if you could record video as well it'd be useful

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recording voiceovers for videos and editing audio files to give it effects (radio effects, cleaning audio, restore noise, and others). The speed and ease of use makes tasks like this quite better.

 ### 45. Easiest tool to record, cut-paste, and edit audios

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shivraj J. | Instructional Designer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity makes it very easy for the user to record audios and edit them in real time. I have also had instances where I had to cut paste single words from one audio file into another. Since you can take care of the pauses and add or delete them per your wish, you can render almost natural-flowing audios with this tool.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The desktop application needs to be a little more intuitive. New users can have some challenges looking at all the icons and not knowing what exactly needs to be done to get a certain function working.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity makes it incredibly easy for me to record and edit audios. I work in the learning design industry and we constantly need voiceovers for our courses. These voiceovers can be recorded and edited very easily in the Audacity app

 ### 46. Very light, smooth and performant

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ebai D. | Data Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

It is light. Uses less space, very easy to understand and use. It is also highly performant. Its interface is easy to understand.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

It has quite an old interface; I think recently they have not worked on this aspect. Also, there are limited codecs, encoders and plugins to make the software interactive with file formats

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It fixes the problems of sound editing. The experience is quite a great specialty as a beginner in sound editing will not be so lost

 ### 47. Lots of features, and you can't beat the price

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim D. | Expert Contributor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

The price (free!) is the best feature, but the software is not crippled by any means. Users can edit, blend, and apply special effects to most any sound files, then export them into a format suited for the intended use. Stereo tracks can be rendered in mono, if desired.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The software has a significant learning curve, and there is no user's manual to speak of. There is a large user community one can rely on for crowdsourced tech support, but you shouldn't expect a quick answer. Your best shot at resolving a problem is to hope that someone had the same problem before you did and posted a question about it to the user community.

You'll also find that some add-in software is needed to create or convert certain file formats. Usually, the software will report that you need this or that add-in to create the format you want, and tells you where to find it. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries before the software is configured to do what you need it to do.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are probably one or more commercial sound editing packages available for purchase, but I'm unaware of them. I've always used Audacity for my (usually simple) sound editing chores. Because the software is open-source, the user community is continuously improving it and expanding its range of special effects and file formats. Most of the sound editing work I do is to create sound effects for a presentation or to record telephone interviews for transcription. Audacity has served me well for these tasks.

 ### 48. Free Game changer Audio Editing Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vanshika T. | Software Engineer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is a free and open-source audio editing software with lots of features. It is easy to use and install. I used it to reduce the background noise, which was very irritating. Audacity saves my time and effort with this noise reduction feature. We can also tune our voice by audacity for better presentation.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Sometimes it distorts my voice after using the noise reduction feature, but it's ok. We can solve it by tuning the voice with some EQ features. Otherwise, there are no flaws in audacity.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I do voice-over daily for a variety of contents. So I use it to enhance the audio levels impressively and reduce the extra noise from the audio. Audacity allows me to do it quickly with its custom templates feature, which is very cool.

 ### 49. Very easy to use and popular for it's great specifications.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chandani P. | Data Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I like its vital feature the best: multi-track recording and user-friendly interface. Additionally, its waveforms are more accurate than other audio processing software.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The one thing I don't like about Audacity is that some bugs can be why the program is unstable; plus, it does not offer virtual instrument functionality.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity provides all kinds of hardware inputs, which solves all problems and saves me money on getting specific hardware.

 ### 50. Amazing Audio Editing Software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jay C. | Director, Retail, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is great! I can easily record right from multiple microphones straight into the program for editing. Audacity also has a lot of cool and handy features!

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Audacity has a pretty steep learning curve for some of the more useful features. It also doesn't come with all the features, we have had to download 3rd party plugins to this app.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity allows us to record straight into the app and save time rather than having to record it elsewhere and import it in. With that amount of hours we use this app, every minute we can save adds up.
