# Which PSA tools work for consulting or professional services firms outside of IT, like marketing agencies or legal service businesses?

A lot of PSA coverage is very IT and MSP flavored, so I wanted a roundup for the non-IT side: agencies, creative shops, consultancies and similar professional-services firms. I filtered professional services automation reviews to the marketing and advertising world to see what actually fits that way of working. The three that stood out most were Screendragon, Productive and Scoro, but here's the fuller list.

Screendragon is described by agency and marketing-ops reviewers as strong on configurable workflows, approvals, resource planning and budget tracking, and it adapts to existing processes rather than forcing a template.

Productive gets called an agency's source of truth for profitability, with budgeting tied to invoicing, resource planning and reporting that reviewers set up quickly.

Scoro brings quote-to-cash, time tracking and margin dashboards together, and marketing reviewers like the Xero and Expensify sync keeping finances aligned.

Workamajig is purpose-built for creative agencies with project management, built-in accounting, proofing and CRM in one, though reviewers find it click-heavy and note adoption can be a challenge.

Function Point targets smaller creative agencies with project management, QuickBooks integration and reporting, with reviewers praising straightforward time and billing while wanting a smoother estimating and CRM flow.

For agency and consulting folks here, which of these fit the way client work, retainers and creative approvals actually run? And has anyone in legal services found a PSA that fits, or do you end up on practice-specific software instead?

Workamajig is purpose-built for agencies but that click-heavy reputation is earned. Powerful once you know it, rough getting there.
