# Which ecommerce platform keeps inventory accurate when you are selling across multiple channels at the same time?

I'm researching ecommerce platforms for a guide on multichannel retail and what ecommerce platform keeps inventory accurate when you are selling across multiple channels at the same time is genuinely the hardest question to get a straight answer on. Demos never show you what happens when two channels sell the same last unit simultaneously. That's where the platforms diverge.

Based on G2 reviews and what practitioners flag in this space:

Shopify (4.4 stars, 5,114 reviews): Most retail reviewers describe it as a single source of truth with channels feeding back to one inventory pool. Amazon, TikTok, and the storefront all syncing centrally.

Shopify Plus (4.4 stars, 871 reviews): Built for brands managing multiple storefronts and channels with automated order routing. Specifically called out for handling flash sales and high-demand periods without performance issues.

BigCommerce (4.2 stars, 580 reviews): Native multi-channel inventory tools without app dependency. One reviewer specifically switched from Shopify for better built-in multi-channel management.

WooCommerce (4.4 stars, 1,278 reviews): Maximum control and no platform fees, but multi-channel accuracy is only as good as the plugin stack you build around it.

One tell worth asking about in every answer here: whether the team holds back buffer stock per channel. If a setup only stays "accurate" because someone reserves five safety units on each channel, the platform isn't keeping inventory accurate, the padding is. And the cost shows up as inventory sitting unsold during exactly the campaigns when it would move. Did anyone get to genuinely zero buffer, and on what setup?
