# What is the best app for handling payroll effortlessly?

Hey, so I’ve been trying to figure out the best app for handling payroll effortlessly because right now it feels like one of those things that should be simple but somehow takes more time every month than expected.

Nothing too complex on our end. Small team, fairly straightforward salaries. But between making sure everything is accurate, handling deductions, and just not wanting to mess anything up, it still ends up being something I double-check way more than I’d like.

So I started looking into tools in the payroll space to see what people are actually using day to day.

A few that kept coming up:

Gusto seems like what a lot of small teams start with because it’s straightforward and doesn’t feel too heavy

RUN Powered by ADP feels more established, like something people trust once they don’t want to worry about errors

Rippling is interesting because it connects payroll with everything else, not sure if that makes things easier or just more setup

Paylocity looks like a mix of payroll + HR, maybe useful once things grow a bit

Justworks seems focused on taking things off your plate completely, especially compliance

I’m not really looking for “advanced features”, just something where payroll runs and I don’t feel like I need to check everything twice.

If you’re using any of these:

Did it actually make payroll feel routine, or is there still a lot of manual checking?

Anything that looked simple at first but got complicated over time?

Also, at what point did payroll stop feeling like something you had to constantly double-check?
