# What are the top Employee Referral tools for technical hiring and engineering talent sourcing at scale?

Engineering hiring has its own gravity: a small pool of qualified candidates, long evaluation cycles, and a workforce that already knows exactly who's good in their network. Referral tools built for volume alone don't automatically translate to that context within employee referral.

The three most built for this specifically: Workable, Phenom Applied AI, and Jobvite. Here's the fuller list:

Workable: Its AI Recruiting Agent continuously searches 400M+ candidate profiles for passive technical talent, sourcing beyond whoever happens to apply inbound.

Phenom Applied AI: Built with role-specific "Ontologies" that recognize that developing engineers requires a fundamentally different approach than high-volume retail hiring.

Jobvite: A full talent acquisition suite for enterprise organizations hiring at scale, combining referrals with CRM and analytics in one connected platform.

Radancy: Enterprise-grade candidate journey optimization, useful when technical hiring needs to happen across multiple business units simultaneously.

ERIN: AI identifies which employees are best positioned to refer for specific roles, which matters for engineering when only a handful of people in the company can actually vet a candidate's technical fit.

Engineers referring engineers is usually the strongest signal in the whole pipeline. Does any of this software actually weight referrals from technical staff differently, or does every referral get treated the same regardless of who sent it?

The useful differentiator is whether the platform captures who made the referral and how relevant that person’s expertise is to the role, rather than treating every referral as equal. I’d look for source-quality signals, technical-role matching, and analytics that show which employee networks actually produce hires.
