G2 Launches New Attribute for Its Heatmap Tools Category

Heatmap Tools Discussions
Looking for input from G2 reviewers and UX analysts, product managers, and CRO specialists in the Heatmap Tools category, specifically from those who use heatmaps as a regular part of their design and optimisation workflow rather than an occasional audit exercise, and can speak to which platforms hold up as a daily research tool rather than a one-time diagnostic.
The platforms with the strongest UX analyst trust evidence:
- Hotjar by Contentsquare: The combination of click maps, scroll maps, and movement maps alongside session recordings in a single platform is credited for giving UX teams the visual and contextual evidence needed to make design decisions without requiring a separate analytics tool to establish the quantitative baseline.
- Microsoft Clarity: Free heatmaps and session replays with automatic rage click and dead click detection are described as the UX analyst trust model for teams whose research budget is constrained or who need a complementary tool alongside Google Analytics without adding to their tooling cost.
- Mouseflow: The form analytics layer specifically identifies which form fields produce the most abandonment, correction, and hesitation, a precision that page-level click maps cannot provide for form optimisation tasks.
- Fullstory: Digital Experience Intelligence with automatic element-level click tracking is described as the UX analyst trust model for teams at scale whose product complexity makes pre-defined event tracking insufficient.
- LogRocket: Session replay combined with JavaScript error tracking, network request logging, and application state capture in a single view is described as the UX analyst and developer trust model for product teams where the distinction between a UX problem and a technical problem is not always clear at the point of user observation.
For UX analysts who use heatmaps as a regular part of their design workflow, which heatmap type (click, scroll, movement, or attention) most frequently produces a finding that changes a design decision you had already made? And what was the most counterintuitive user behavior a heatmap surfaced that your usability testing had not revealed?
What is FullStory used for?
My company implemented Mouseflow about a year ago for session replay. We've paid 1,400 to them for nominal usage, and this month when they raised prices by about 30%, we decided not to keep the service. It renewed on a weekend, and on Monday we sought to cancel, but they wouldn't refund our services or even prorate because of their policy. We intended to cancel a few times, but there aren't any renewal reminders, they just charge, so we missed the window a few months in a row. While I understand proration is a choice, it seems like a poor choice to deny a refund on the first business day of a new cycle. Now we're looking for alternatives to Mouseflow, and finding a bunch. Has anyone else found a good replacement for Mouseflow?
