I really love Asana's feature where after marking off tasks or milestones, an Otter or unicorn shoots across the screen. It might seem a bit silly, but these small moments of joy help me get through the workday. I also appreciate how Asana is kind of a one-stop shop for my workflow. Unlike other task managers I've used, it's not just a task tracker. I can store all resources and files related to a project, and I like the customizable home dashboard where I can organize different sections of my work. I especially love being able to add projects to my goals to track my progress throughout the year. This feature makes it incredibly convenient to regularly save resources or evidence related to my goals, which helps me during performance reviews. I also love the project status updates. Additionally, integrating Asana with ChatGPT has been amazing, as it allows me to describe things that then automatically create projects and due dates, which cuts down on a lot of setup time. Overall, I've been really happy with Asana compared to what we used before, and while we're still learning, setting it up has been fairly easy.

What I liked most was finally being able to see the whole picture without asking everyone for an update. I could open Asana in the morning and quickly understand what was already done, what was still moving and where something had gotten stuck. For a while, that was genuinely useful because we had fewer random "what's happening with this?" messages during the day. I also liked having deadlines attached to actual tasks instead of keeping dates in my head or in random notes. When the setup was clean, Asana gave me a really good overview of the work. I don't think Asana is overpriced for what it offers. If you have a larger team and actually use it as the main place for managing projects, I can see the value pretty easily. For us, though, it was harder to justify. We're a small team and eventually realized we weren't using enough of the platform to really get our money's worth. So I'd say the pricing is fair, it just didn't make much sense for the way we ended up using it.

Every other Friday I had to pull progress from four different projects and turn it into a slide for leadership, mostly copying numbers into powerpoint by hand. Started using Asana's reporting dashboards instead, pull in the specific projects I need and build a chart showing completion rate or overdue tasks across all of them at once. What used to be a half day of copy-pasting is now just screenshotting a dashboard that's already accurate.
