Useful insight into which sources influence AI-generated answers

It's no longer enough to know where our pages rank in traditional search; we also want to understand which sources AI platforms consider relevant when answering questions related to fashion, interiors, lifestyle, and retail. We've found AI Citation Analysis particularly useful for this. We use it to examine the websites and sources that AI models cite when responding to relevant prompts. This gives us a different perspective on content authority and helps us understand what types of external sources are influencing the answers customers may see. For example, when researching topics related to fashion or home and lifestyle, we can look at which publishers, retailers, and other websites are consistently being referenced. We then use those findings as an additional input when reviewing our own content and identifying opportunities to strengthen our visibility and authority. I also like that the feature helps move the conversation away from simply asking "Are we appearing?" toward "Which sources are influencing the answer, and what can we learn from them?" That distinction has been useful when planning content and evaluating topics where we want Sissy-Boy to have stronger visibility.

Strong competitive insights for understanding our visibility in AI search

As a performance-focused team, we wanted to understand how our brand was performing in the emerging AI search environment and, more importantly, how that performance compared with the retailers competing for the same customers. The feature we've found most useful is Competitor AEO Research. We use it to benchmark Dille & Kamille against relevant competitors across AI-generated search results, looking at brand mentions, AI citations, AI-generated links, frequency of appearance, and historical performance. What makes this particularly useful is that it moves the analysis beyond simply asking whether our brand appears in AI responses. We can see which competitors are appearing alongside us, how frequently they are being referenced, and which sources are contributing to their visibility. This gives us a much clearer picture of the competitive landscape. We use the findings when reviewing our performance and planning content priorities. For example, if competitors consistently appear for questions around home, kitchen, garden, or lifestyle products where our visibility is weaker, we can investigate what type of content and sources are contributing to their presence and use that information when deciding where to focus our efforts. The historical performance component is also important. AI search results can change frequently, so having the ability to compare performance over time makes the analysis much more useful than conducting occasional manual checks.

Helpful for understanding where our brand appears in AI-driven product discovery

As a product-focused e-commerce organization, we wanted to understand how AI assistants are changing the way customers discover retailers and products. Traditional search analytics give us a strong view of rankings and customer behavior, but they don’t show how often an AI assistant brings our brand into a recommendation or comparison. We used Brand Mention Tracking to get a more structured view of this. We built prompts around electronics, consumer technology, product comparisons, and shopping-related questions, and then monitored which queries resulted in Coolblue being mentioned in AI-generated responses. That prompt-level visibility was especially valuable. Rather than simply knowing our brand was showing up, we could see which kinds of customer questions actually triggered a Coolblue mention. It helped us pinpoint the topics and product-related conversations where our brand was naturally being surfaced, as well as where competitors were appearing instead. We also found it helpful for linking product and marketing discussions. When certain categories or customer questions consistently produced strong brand visibility, we could bring those insights into conversations about content, product information, and the overall digital customer experience.

What is SE Ranking?

SE Ranking is the search performance platform for marketing teams and agencies that need to understand their full digital ecosystem — not just their rankings. As AI search, brand visibility, and social performance become increasingly interconnected, measuring each in isolation no longer tells the full story. The SE Ranking suite — comprising SE Ranking, SE Visible, and Planable — brings together the layered data your team needs to draw real correlations across search, AI visibility, and social performance, and to communicate what those correlations mean to the stakeholders demanding answers. SE Ranking provides the SEO and AI search foundation: keyword tracking, technical site audits, backlink analysis, competitive intelligence, local SEO, and content tools, connected to GA4 and Google Search Console so your data is always grounded in what is actually happening to your traffic. SE Visible extends that foundation as an add-on layer — letting you look at your search and brand data from an additional perspective, with AI search visibility across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini layered on top. Rather than a separate platform, it is a way to go deeper on the same data set, with competitor benchmarking and trend monitoring built in. Planable adds the content + social layer. A social media management & collaboration platform for planning, scheduling, approving, and publishing social content across channels, it offers built-in analytics that connect what teams publish back to how it performs across search, AI, and social signals. For teams building more sophisticated data workflows, the SE Ranking API and MCP (Model Context Protocol) server make keyword, backlink, competitor, and LLM visibility data available programmatically — inside your BI tools, your custom pipelines, and directly within AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. SE Ranking is built for the SEOs, digital marketing leads, and agency teams working at the intersection of search, AI, and brand visibility — the people responsible for making sense of a complex environment and communicating its value upward.
