I like that VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) helps me manage VMs without making things too complicated. It's very nice to have a lot of control and I value its dependability when managing important workloads. Another thing I appreciate is how well it fits into our company's infrastructure, making it easy to monitor the environment without needing a lot of tools.

Honestly, the best thing about vSAN is how seamlessly it fits into vSphere. There are no separate storage boxes, no extra management tools, and no added headache. I just log into the vSphere Client I’m already using, set a policy, and boom—storage is handled. Scaling is stupidly easy, too. Need more capacity? Add a node or drop in a disk. That’s it. No complicated setup and no downtime drama. Performance has been solid for us. Latency has been good, and throughput has been especially strong, particularly with the newer ESA architecture. Dedup and compression actually help keep costs down without me having to babysit anything. The built-in resilience is a big plus as well. Everything feels protected, and features like encryption and immutable snapshots are included. Stuff that would normally require extra hardware or separate software just comes with it. vSAN makes storage feel like it was never a separate thing to begin with. It simply works with what you already have, and that’s the part that matters. Since we're already deep in the VMware world vSAN fits like a glove. It's not really "integration”. Its more like it was always supposed to be It talks natively with vSphere and vCenter obviously. No extra connectors or plugins needed. VMotion works with it DRS balances workloads across nodes without any fuss and HA just does its thing. That tight coupling is the point. We also use Veeam for backups. It supports vSAN snapshots and APIs without any drama. SRM (Site Recovery Manager) works too for our DR workflows. Stretched clusters plus SRM is a solid combo. On the networking side we're running NSX-T and vSAN traffic rides on the stack without issues. We just dedicated some NICs for vSAN traffic. Its been smooth sailing. The one thing I'd call out is that it's VMware-centric by design. If you've got a hypervisor environment or you're using non-VMware tools for storage management you might feel some friction.. If you're all-in, on VMware like we are it's pretty much plug-and-play.

I really like how VMware vSAN simplifies storage management within a VMware environment. I can manage everything through vCenter without needing a separate storage system. It's highly scalable and provides good performance and availability, which makes it easy to expand storage as the environment grows. I appreciate the centralized management through vCenter, the storage policies, and the built-in high availability. The storage policies are a real help for defining requirements for individual VMs, and I find it very useful to be able to scale storage by just adding disks or hosts as needed. The monitoring and health-check tools are also great for quickly identifying any issues before they impact workloads.
