This software surprised me with how much time it saves on everyday drafting work. Smart Mouse and Smart Select have cut down a lot of the repetitive clicking I used to do quick gestures for filtering and selecting objects save real time on daily drafting. Smart Voice is genuinely useful too; being able to attach a voice note directly to a drawing has made revision feedback with my team much clearer, with a lot less back-and-forth over email or chat. Smart Plotting makes batch printing painless when I have multiple sheets to send out, and IFC Import handles Revit data well, which matters since I work in an AEC environment. Some AutoCAD files particularly ones with certain plugins, custom fonts, or advanced blocks don’t always render perfectly, so I sometimes have to manually fix things. Earlier, I had to keep navigating through manually selecting objects one by one, especially when working on complex drawings. Now I can use quick gestures and intelligent selection options, which makes repetitive editing much faster and keeps my workflow moving. Another feature I rely on is Smart Plotting. When I have multiple drawing sheets ready for release, I no longer need to print each one individually. Batch plotting saves a significant amount of time and reduces the chance of missing a sheet or using the wrong print settings. IFC Import has also been valuable since I regularly receive files from teams using Revit. Earlier, exchanging data often required extra conversion steps. What I like best about ZWCAD is that it is easy to use and works well with DWG files. It’s fast and easy to use. I frequently rely on the trimming and hatching functions, and they work well for my day-to-day tasks. I also really like the option to tile vertically within a DWG or across different DWG files, since it makes referencing and comparing drawings much easier. After updating to ZWCAD 2025, it makes it less laggy, can open multiple dwg at the same time as well. It is cheaper than Autocad with the same function and with easier license managing. Save time when drafting by opening different dwgs using tile vertically function 2. Different layers used can help in isolating different element and easier to control when want to focus on certain element. Especially in large drawings where there is lots of elements involved. 'Layiso" function, "Freeze" function, and "Lock" function are most commonly used when want to study on certain element only. 3. Resulting in more detailed and accurate info to be conveyed to other parties (minimise error / miscommunication). Dimension can be shown anywhere with accuracy. "Xref" function is also commonly used for reference and comparison between dwgs from different parties. 4. While standard 2D drawings open perfectly, when I import PDF files for DWG conversion, scaling to the correct dimensions is a bit confusing and I need to scale manually. The DWG file imported from PDF is sometimes small, and selecting the reference lines can be tricky, as the cursor doesn't always go directly to the point, veering left or right at times. It's a seemless transition from AUTODESK and they have very good pricing as I do not need all the rubbish autodesk bundle with the software. The straight purchase option is perfect as I do not like subscription models at all and have changed a lot of my company stuff to other vendors because of this. I need a basic 2D drawing programme and this far exceeds what I need in usability and features with a very well designed interface. The client support and interaction has to date been amazing. Having been an AutoDesk AutoCAD user for years, the functionality and seemless transition to ZWCAD was literally instant. I had no issues what so ever in switching while still opening and using my old AutoCAD files.
