"Super easy, much cheaper"
What do you like best about ZeroSSL?

I tried out ZeroSSL to help our brokerage spend less money on our wildcard certificates. Not only was it much cheaper than our previous issuer, but the customer support has been awesome. I made some mistakes and needed guidance and assistance, and they were super responsive, and helped me with exactly what I needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ZeroSSL?

I don't have many suggestions, just maybe more explanation for each step on what you're purhcasing, installing, etc., for newbies like myself. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bryson Perkins of ZeroSSL

We're glad to hear that you found ZeroSSL to be a much cheaper option for your wildcard certificates and that our customer support was awesome. We appreciate your feedback about providing more explanation for each step and will take that into consideration for future improvements.

"The advertizing is very deceptive - They are not an alternative for free SSL by any means"
What do you like best about ZeroSSL?

The have a nice easy to use console to manage and create your certs with. If you want to pay for certs, they have a nice enviroment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ZeroSSL?

The stance they take on the "3 free certs" is quite different than what they lead you to believe. You get 3 free certs once, for life. That is you can get one free cert and renew it twice or in my case get 3 for just fun project domanins, and when you go to renew them find out, oh, gee we gave you the 3 free ones. No renewals, time to fork over some money. This is in sharp contrast to them being compared to places like freessl that are actually free. If you are just starting out, I woudl succuest avoiding these people as they have proven they can not be trusted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bryson Perkins of ZeroSSL

We apologize for any confusion regarding our free SSL certificate offering. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration as we continue to improve our services.

"Simple to use and fast to set up"
What do you like best about ZeroSSL?

The site is intuative, and easy to use, it's clear and the setup instructions are almost idiot-proof so even if you're new to setting up and integrating SSL certificates it's actaully really easy on ZeroSSL. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ZeroSSL?

Revoked certificates count as part of your usage, but I sort of understand why, so be very careful when setting up certificates to ensure you've got all the right details! This comes under user-error really tho, rather than an issue with the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bryson Perkins of ZeroSSL

We're glad to hear that you find ZeroSSL intuitive and easy to use. We strive to make the setup process as simple as possible for all users, regardless of their experience level.

"Reliable SSL certificate provider with ACME features"
What do you like best about ZeroSSL?

ZeroSSL allows you to manually generate and renew certificates, or to generate and renew them using an ACME client (like Caddy web server, for example.) I most appreciate that I can manually generate 3-month or 1-year certs to use on non-ACME-compatible systems. It is much more cost effective and provides you with an intuitive dashboard to view the status of your certificates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ZeroSSL?

I believe they could improve the dashboard and the developer experience. There are some lacking features that would be loved, including having multiple API keys and improving the dashboard to show more information on a single page. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bryson Perkins of ZeroSSL

We're glad to hear that you appreciate our ability to manually generate and renew certificates, as well as our support for ACME clients. We will take your feedback about the dashboard and developer experience into consideration for future improvements.

"Easy to use 1y certs"
What do you like best about ZeroSSL?

I'm using ZeroSSL to get 1 year certificates for my website. Verification is always super smooth via DNS.

90d certs via ACME are also useful for side projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ZeroSSL?

They have sometimes longer maintenance on Saturdays. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bryson Perkins of ZeroSSL

We're glad to hear that you find our verification process smooth and our 90-day certificates useful for side projects. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by longer maintenance periods on Saturdays.

"A good solution for SSL"
What do you like best about ZeroSSL?

I used ZeroSSL as a solution to a free SSL, it wasn't easy to understand the setup at first but by searching a youtube video I could apply the SSL to my website. The best part is that they send you a reminder when it is about to expire many days in advance so you can prepare for renewal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ZeroSSL?

The only thing is that the premium SSL is quite expensive and the free option only last 3 months but it lets you renew three times for free. I think the premium version should always last with a year's payment less expensive, I believe many people will choose this option if possible. Also, I think it should be possible to set up quickly with the email you use for the account or any email available from the website, not just the ones they gave, it makes the process harder to do it. If anyone is doing the setup for the first time, make sure to do it by uploading the files to FTP, but if you have questions search on youtube. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bryson Perkins of ZeroSSL

We're glad to hear that you found ZeroSSL to be a good solution for obtaining a free SSL for your website. We appreciate your feedback about the setup process and the reminder for SSL expiration. We understand your concerns about the premium SSL pricing and the limited duration of the free option. We will take your suggestions into consideration for future improvements.

"Easy to use UI, but there's a disparity between Basic and Premium subscription levels."
What do you like best about ZeroSSL?

The UI is very easy to navigate; the dashboard is useful in viewing the overall status of the certificates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ZeroSSL?

The Basic level, at $10 per month, offers three 1-year certificates; the next level up, Premium, is $50 per month and offers ten 1-year certificates.

Many web developers will need more than three 1-year certs., but perhaps less than 10. The most cost-effective way to do this is to open up a second Basic account to have up to six 1-year cert.s per year. This would cost only $20 per month rather than $50 per month for 10.

Perhaps Zero SSL can look at a pay-as-you-go plan and charge incrementally for the number of 1-year cert.s that are needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bryson Perkins of ZeroSSL

Thank you for your feedback! We appreciate your input on the disparity between Basic and Premium subscription levels. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our offerings and will take your suggestions into consideration for future updates.
