A big minus point is the ESB coding IDE, "Integration Studio". There are some very annoying bugs that force us to live with them. The IDE seems abandoned, the "design" system is more of a hindrance than a help, as anyone who is familiar with WSO2 uses editing via XML. WSO2 provides all features that a modern API Manager solution requires like Cloud Native, Publisher/Developer Portal, Rate Limiting, OAuth based Security, Monetization etc. it also provides out of the box integrations with tools like Keycloak, Prometheus/Grafana, Jaeger which reduces the TCO very much. A single unified platform with both good API management and integration capabilities that serve the purpose of a complete middleware platform to build enterprise applications. Specifically, the API management features like security, throttling, governance, monetization etc., are pretty good compared to its competitors and easy to understand and start with for newbies. The new versions of EI have also improved over the previous ones, which makes development easy. Also, being open source, customizations can be done, which is good. Though WSO2 API Manager and EI have strong capabilities, they still lack stability, and some bugs exist. The setting up can sometimes be challenging due to some minor config issues. In WSO2 EI, there is still scope for improvement compared to other proprietary tools like Mulesoft, where the development of APIs' is easy, possibly due to the nature of its underlying framework. The GUI of both APIM and Integration Studio can be improved. Documentation also has scope for improvement that can reduce issues, and users won't have to reach out to the support team every time. I have used many of the application managers but the best thing about the wso2 API manager is, that it is easy to use and manage. Very comprehensive cost-efficient API manager product with a lot of agility and scalability. Being free and open source was a great fit for us as a startup back in 2014. We could set up the on-premise solution by referring to the documentation and running since then without any major issues.

It works perfectly with identity management solutions and we used it to easily manage multiple APIs and applications.
