With WorldCat data built into the operation, our system flies. **What do you dislike about WorldShare Management Services?** Technically illiterate staff and patrons have difficulty navigating the interface, but we've yet to find a service that doesn't confound our edge case patrons. **What problems is WorldShare Management Services solving and how is that benefiting you?** We can manage workflow, databases, collections, and acquiring quickly and efficiently thanks to this software. ### 2. I came to know about WMS at my school library since I work at the circulation desk. We mostly use WMS to check books in and out. It's a neat little software that is very helpful in keeping track of records and data **What do you dislike about WorldShare Management Services?** The UI is need to be change bit more.The white space takes over most of the page and it feels as if the user is not given much to interact with. It may be too set in its ways which can work against the software at times. Need to apply better UI for better user exprience **What problems is WorldShare Management Services solving and how is that benefiting you?** I used these services at University library and was became a premier member for use this, primarily in terms of organizing information about books and finding them for patrons. It’s difficult to say how this program is better than others given that it’s the only one I’ve used, but it did help me to stay organized and to quickly pass on information to other workers (for instance, if I pulled a book from the shelves for repairs, I could mark that in the system). ### 3. I can get work done from anywhere since it's web-based. **What do you dislike about WorldShare Management Services?** WorldShare can feel a bit clunky at times. When I work on interlibrary loan requests, I wish that some of the fields would disappear, like "Renewal Approved" after I view it, but it stays on the dashboard. **Recommendations to others considering WorldShare Management Services:** I would say take the leap. It provides so much more freedom and flexibility while working. It's great that you can see others collections and your collections in real-time. **What problems is WorldShare Management Services solving and how is that benefiting you?** At my previous jonb, we used Sirsi Workflows - I became really comfortable on that, even though it seemed low-tech and outdated to me. I came to this job where they had switched from Sirsi to WorldShare just six months earlier. We are all learning it together and working out the wrinkles. The best part is being able to work in the database from anywhere. You can be at home in bed when a patron requests a renewal and you can do it on the spot. You are also not tied to a desk with this. You can grab a tablet and take WorldShare into the stacks with you. ### 4. It did take some getting used to, but after the initial learning curve I had no trouble. **What do you dislike about WorldShare Management Services?** I sometimes experienced glitches (such as information I entered not saving properly), but this may have been due to internet or computer troubles and may not have been the fault of the program itself. **Recommendations to others considering WorldShare Management Services:** If you’re having issues with the program itself, make sure you check your internet connection to rule this out as the cause! **What problems is WorldShare Management Services solving and how is that benefiting you?** I used these services at my library job, primarily in terms of organizing information about books and finding them for patrons. Its functions are very direct which is very useful especially for entrepreneurial students who at the same time comply with a work schedule. **What do you dislike about WorldShare Management Services?** The browser usually disconnects frequently and that is very annoying for users who use this system to check out books. **Recommendations to others considering WorldShare Management Services:** If you are looking for software with which you can have access to any type of books and that also allows you to register them to be available to all users, WorldShare is the solution. **What problems is WorldShare Management Services solving and how is that benefiting you?** I like it because it offers a good service and makes it easy for users to edit information and be connected to different libraries. ### 6. E-resource Management and cataloging. Front end facing for the end user is very easy to use and navigate. Reports are easy to run and useful. **What do you dislike about WorldShare Management Services?** THere are more network degradation issues than I like with WMS that impact user services. These network degradtion sometimes seem to come all at once and be frequent. Sometimes the Information Technology Support can be less than timely. They are knowledable but it sometimes it seems to just dissapear into a black hole. **Recommendations to others considering WorldShare Management Services:** I do not have any recommendation to make at this time to others who are considering Worldshare Management Services. **What problems is WorldShare Management Services solving and how is that benefiting you?** Streamlining operations for a very small team of workers. ### 7. I have no problems logging in from wherever I am to solve a last minute issue for my staff. Circulation functions are fairly straight forwards, which makes training student workers easy. **What do you dislike about WorldShare Management Services?** Several basic reports, such as inventory, are not integrated into the software and need to be pulled through an FTP client, which only updates once weekly. This makes reports cumbersome and time consuming. The service configuration is extremely confusing and difficult to navigate, Customer services takes a month on average to respond to issues unless you call daily to try and get an update. **Recommendations to others considering WorldShare Management Services:** This is not the right product for you if you need reporting and other functionality. You have to be persistent with follow up on customer service tickets and overall we are considering switching to another ILS. If you decide to go with WMS, be prepared to pay for report designer and other expensive add-ons in order to have a functional ILS system. **What problems is WorldShare Management Services solving and how is that benefiting you?** WMS provides a good basic ILS for those institutions who don't need bells and whistles. The discovery layer adds functionality to the catalog side and is definitely more user friendly than the previous version. ### 9. We use this database for many reasons as to verify information and check-in and out books to patrons. I love the easy to use Interface very clean and simple. Although there may be plenty of tabs across the top webpage, In our department we only focus on the circulation tab. This is where all our duties are in order. **What do you dislike about WorldShare Management Services?** What I dislike about this product would the fact that the webpage can crash leading to slow down production flow. If the webpage does crash, you can refresh the page, and if you are lucky it will work good as new. If not, you will have to close the tab and exit the window screen. You then open another window and log back in. This process can be quite annoying. **What problems is WorldShare Management Services solving and how is that benefiting you?** The only issue that arrise on some occasions, that our internet connection fails to connect. This causes our department to go old school and use pen and paper to log every thing going in and out. This last semester we had issue where our database would not connect and update properly. We had to go into the system manually and input the all data needed. We had to create a new account for the patron. ### 10. Also adding new patrons is a hassle everytime, I suggest there would be an option on the main circulation page would help. Sometimes stops working, have to open it again in a new browser.
