"The flexibility is still what keeps me building with WordPress"

4.5/5

What do you like best about WordPress.org?

After working with WordPress for so many years, there's one thing I still appreciate more than anything else: it's very rare that I have to tell a client their idea isn't possible. Most conversations are about finding the best way to build it, not whether WordPress can handle it. That's probably the biggest reason I keep using it for projects that have nothing in common. The biggest change I've experienced over the last few years is the evolution of the Block Editor and the Site Editor. I'll admit I wasn't convinced at first. I had spent years building sites with classic themes and visual builders, so changing the way I worked didn't sound very appealing. After using it on real projects, my opinion completely changed. Reusable blocks, patterns, and templates have cut down the amount of repetitive work that goes into custom websites, and clients are much more confident updating their own content without worrying about breaking the layout. I also like where WordPress is heading. Every release keeps improving the block experience, collaboration features, and the foundation for AI-powered tools, so it feels like the platform is still moving in the right direction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WordPress.org?

The Block Editor still isn't the perfect fit for every project. On more complex builds, I sometimes prefer creating custom components instead of forcing everything into advanced block layouts. The good part is that WordPress never locks me into a single way of working. I can choose the approach that makes the most sense for each project, and that's something I've always appreciated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?

A project from a few months ago sums it up pretty well. A client comes to us with a website that has been growing for years without much planning behind it. Every new feature meant installing another plugin, and even publishing a simple article had become more complicated than it should've been. Before adding anything new, we took a step back and cleaned everything up. We built custom blocks for the sections they actually used, removed a bunch of plugins they no longer needed, simplified the editing experience, and used the Site Editor so their team could manage most of the content themselves. A few weeks later, something interesting happened. The constant requests for small text changes, image swaps, and layout updates almost disappeared because they could handle those changes on their own. That was probably the most satisfying part of the project. We didn't just make the website faster; we made it easier for everyone to work with long after the development was finished. "Total Ownership and Extreme Flexibility with WordPress.org"

5/5

What do you like best about WordPress.org?

What I like best about WordPress.org is the unmatched combination of total ownership, extreme flexibility, and a massive ecosystem. Because it is open-source, you have complete control over your site's code and data without being locked into a proprietary platform. At the same time, the endless library of themes and plugins makes it easy to scale anything from a simple blog to a complex e-commerce store, all backed by an incredible community. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WordPress.org?

The steep learning curve for beginners, the constant need to manage manual security updates and backups, and the risk of plugin conflicts or compatibility issues breaking the site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?

WordPress.org solves the problem of digital dependency and high development costs by providing a free, open-source platform. It benefits me by giving me full ownership and control over my website's data and code, allowing me to build and scale a professional online presence without being locked into expensive proprietary software or rigid templates. "Unmatched Flexibility with a Massive Plugin and Theme Ecosystem"

4/5

What do you like best about WordPress.org?

What I like best about WordPress.org is the unmatched flexibility of the open-source platform. The massive ecosystem of plugins and themes allows me to customize and scale any website to my exact specifications without being locked into a rigid system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WordPress.org?

The biggest drawback is the heavy maintenance burden. Because it is self-hosted, you are entirely responsible for managing security updates, regular backups, and resolving plugin conflicts, which can be time-consuming and technically demanding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before using WordPress.org, we struggled with proprietary website builders that locked us into high monthly subscription fees and offered very limited scaling options. WordPress.org solved this by giving us a free, open-source foundation. We now have the freedom to scale our site's features using budget-friendly plugins, which has significantly reduced our web development overhead while allowing us to grow our online presence. "Easy-to-Learn, Widely Supported CMS"

4/5

What do you like best about WordPress.org?

What I like best about WordPress.org is that it is one of the most widely used CMS platforms, so it is easy to find documentation, tutorials, plugins and support when needed. This makes it very useful for managing a website even when you are not a full-time developer.

I use it to create and update pages, publish content, manage basic website structure and keep our activities visible online. The large ecosystem of themes and plugins also makes it flexible for different needs, from simple content pages to more advanced website features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WordPress.org?

The main downside is that WordPress.org is not always immediately user-friendly, especially when you need to manage more technical parts such as plugins, themes, updates, security settings or layout customization. Sometimes I need to search for tutorials or documentation to understand the best way to do something.

It is very powerful, but because it is so flexible, it can also become complex if the website has many plugins or custom settings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?

WordPress.org helps us manage our website and present our activities in a clear and accessible way. It solves the problem of needing a flexible platform where we can publish information, update pages, share news or content, and keep our online presence active without rebuilding the website every time.

The main benefit is that we can manage a lot of website content internally and make updates when needed. This helps us communicate better with our audience, show what we do, and keep information about our organization more visible and organized. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"WordPress.org: Flexible, Customizable Websites with Endless Plugins and Themes"

4.5/5

What do you like best about WordPress.org?

I’ve been using WordPress.org for quite a while, and it’s still the platform I turn to first whenever I need to build a website. What I appreciate most is its flexibility. With thousands of plugins and themes available, it’s easy to customize a site and get it looking and working the way I want, without having to build everything from scratch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WordPress.org?

The biggest challenge is keeping everything up to date. At times, plugin or theme updates can create compatibility issues, so I end up spending extra time troubleshooting and making sure everything works properly afterward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?

It offers a flexible platform with thousands of plugins, themes, and customization options, making it easy to launch and scale websites for a wide range of purposes.

For me, that means I can build sites quickly, test new ideas, and add the features I need without investing a lot of time in custom development. It helps keep costs down, speeds up delivery, and lets me focus more on content and business goals instead of getting stuck on technical challenges. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"My Experience with Wordpress - Its pros and cons"

4.5/5

What do you like best about WordPress.org?

In Wordpress, we can fully own our Site and Data. We can move our site anywhere, change hosting providers, export everything, and customize the backend in the way we want. The platform provides plugins for almost anything like ecommerce, forms, automation, caching etc. Also there are a lot of custom themes which can be used while building websites. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WordPress.org?

One issue is the maintenance. usually you are responsible for the updates like core files, themes and plugins. If that is ignored, then things can break or become vulnerable. Updates are needed regularly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use WordPress internally within my organization to create websites. Before wordpress we were creating websites by manually coding with HTML/CSS/PHP, managing the backend and building admin panels manually. But Wordpress has made the task easier as it gives us readymade themes, plugins, page/post editor, media uploads which reduces the coding work.

The platform is very flexible by serving various uses cases like it can become a blog, an ecommerce store, a portfolio, LMS, company website. By this we can get all our needs fulfilled by a single application. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Complete Ownership and Unmatched Flexibility with WordPress.org"

5/5

What do you like best about WordPress.org?

I love the complete ownership and unmatched flexibility WordPress.org offers. With thousands of themes and plugins available(even i created my own plugin), you can build and scale almost any type of website without strict platform limitations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WordPress.org?

While basic content editing is easy, customizing layouts beyond standard templates often requires technical knowledge, custom CSS, or third-party page builders, which can slow down performance if not optimized properly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?

Managing website updates previously required technical developer intervention for even simple text or layout changes, causing delays in our publishing workflow. WordPress.org solved this with its intuitive Block Editor, allowing non-technical team members to easily create, edit, and publish content independently. This saves us hours of turnaround time and keeps our marketing materials updated in real time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Highly Customizable Platform with Integration Challenges"

5/5

What do you like best about WordPress.org?

I use WordPress.org to host our company's website. I really like how customizable WordPress allows us to be. With WP, I'm able to create whatever is in my imagination using all the tools it offers, unlike other services where you're limited in fabricating. I'm able to integrate quality third-party apps like LiveChat, MailChimp, Gravity Forms, and Google Analytics in ways other web platforms don't allow. I can turn on and off features I don't need through coding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WordPress.org?

With great customizability comes great complications! Sometimes it can be overwhelming when trying to implement a new tool or feature. And the updating does make it a bit difficult to keep things fresh. I think clearer directives from app installation would be helpful. Maybe giving clearer guides for installations would be beneficial. I can get stuck sometimes when trying to integrate something new. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?

WordPress.org lets us create a fully customizable website, connecting with customers and integrating third-party apps like MailChimp and Google Analytics. I can turn features on or off easily, though sometimes it gets overwhelming with new tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"WordPress Makes Professional Faculty Blogging Easy"

4/5

What do you like best about WordPress.org?

Wordpress allowed me to administrate a faculty blog for my institution typically hosting 5-6 unique authors per semester. Administration was relatively easy and with little to no website-building experience we were able to offer a professional public blog. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WordPress.org?

My primary challenge with Wordpress has been due to my multi-author approach. At times managing various user roles and inviting guest contributors feels clunky and outdated - it doesn't seem built for collaboration. I eventually gave up and managed everything for collaboration outside the platform and input guest contributor's work as the sole editor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?

WordPress provided a professional and well organized, familiar blog platform which has reached a wide selection of our target audience. It has allowed a broader swath of my colleagues to share their thinking in an approachable manner. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Free, Flexible, and SEO-Friendly Website Builder"

5/5

What do you like best about WordPress.org?

The most helpful thing is that it’s free, which makes having a website very affordable for most people. Most of the apps and plugins are also free or low-cost.

The best part is the interface — it’s easy to use, customize, and adapt to different needs. You can also connect analytics tools and track the metrics that matter most.

It’s also very good for website performance, especially when it comes to organic traffic through blog posts. For example, WordPress has strong SEO capabilities, making it easier to rank content on search engines and attract visitors naturally over time.

I’ve never used the support or onboarding because you can find almost everything you need on the internet through tutorials, forums, and documentation.

I also haven’t used any AI or LLM-related features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WordPress.org?

I think that’s the downside — since it’s an open-source platform, you can’t always expect the best interface or the highest-quality apps/plugins. The experience can vary depending on which tools and themes you choose. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?

interfaces or plugins are not perfect, you can still build a reliable and effective website without much difficulty.

Today, my blog runs on WordPress, and it fits my needs very well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
