Is VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services (VKS) free, or does it offer a free trial?

No. According to G2 data, VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services (VKS) does not offer a free plan or free trial. Users need to purchase a paid plan to access the product. Visit the seller's official pricing page for current pricing details and plan options.

Who is VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services (VKS) pricing best suited for?

VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services (VKS) pricing is best suited for enterprises and mid-market organizations already operating within the VMware ecosystem. G2 reviewers from IT services, financial services, consulting, and computer software industries report the strongest value when existing vSphere infrastructure, NSX networking, and VMware tooling are already in place, since VKS pricing assumes that foundation. Enterprise reviewers highlight unified VM and container management, lifecycle automation, and governance as core justifications for the cost. G2 reviewers from small businesses more frequently flag licensing expense and complexity as disproportionate to their scale, suggesting VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services (VKS) pricing is poorly matched to teams without substantial VMware infrastructure investment.

What are the key differences between the free and paid versions of VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services (VKS)?

According to G2's pricing data for VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services (VKS), no free tier or publicly listed pricing tiers exist. VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services (VKS) pricing is available exclusively through custom enterprise quotes. There is no free version or free trial referenced in G2 data. Entry into VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services (VKS) requires a licensing commitment, which G2 reviewers describe as bundled, core-based, and subscription-oriented following recent licensing changes. Multiple reviewers note this model forces payment for features teams may not use, making the pricing of VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services (VKS) an all-or-nothing enterprise procurement decision rather than a tiered or usage-based entry point.

Is VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services (VKS) considered good value for its pricing?

G2 reviews of VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services (VKS) reflect a split verdict on value. The 4.5/5 average rating signals strong functional satisfaction, particularly among enterprises already invested in VMware infrastructure, where unified VM and container management, enterprise-grade security, and reduced operational overhead justify the cost. However, pricing concerns are a recurring and prominent theme: multiple G2 reviewers across small business and mid-market segments flag expensive bundled core-based subscription licensing, paying for unused features, and costs exceeding comparable Kubernetes alternatives. G2 reviewers consistently frame VKS pricing as justifiable only when deep VMware ecosystem integration is already in place, making it a premium investment rather than broadly accessible value.

What do you like best about VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services (VKS)?

What I like most about VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services is how tightly it integrates with the vSphere/VCF platform. It lets you deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters with self-service lifecycle management, while still keeping enterprise controls, security, and operations centralized in one place. It performs adequately compared to similar software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services (VKS)?

What I dislike most about VMware vSphere Kubernetes Services is the overall complexity. It can feel heavier than a more lightweight Kubernetes stack because you’re managing VMware, vSphere, and Tanzu-related components together, rather than working within one simpler platform.

Another drawback is ecosystem dependence: many parts are VMware-centric, which can limit flexibility when you want to use third-party tooling.

It’s also very expensive compared to other similar software. Their support is terrible, and the AI is garbage. Interface is still the classic vsphere - making the UI normalized. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
