Also with sensitivity analysis, it is straightforward and with minimal complexity once you understand the knowledge base. I have been using it for 5 years, and I can confidently say it has continually improved. Looking back, Vensim was a complex platform but as per now, it is easy and straightforward. **What do you dislike about Vensim?** I have nothing much to say because it has improved. The only thing I can speak of is that the interface is still old schoo style. Excellent introductory system dynamics modeling tool. Good value, but not the prettiest. My overall experience was good for simulating basic models, I have been able to represent the diagrams and see the curves correctly **What do you dislike about Vensim?** Sometime it's freeze and buggy, multi running window is not provided, Dull interface and some of the features are complicated. Cons to simulation are that the model needs to be done right before it will work at all. So, you can't see what would happen if it were working to see the errors you are making. That may be, but there are other alternatives that do not have this problem and it makes things much easier for many applications, especially by the 99% of non-experts who would be using the software. **Recommendations to others considering Vensim:** use must use vensim in order to do any job and review for system dynamic. Business problems Big data allows us to have a lot of detail for so many variables. But, just having them doesn't help you make sense of them. System dynamics can help with that. Vensim is one tool to do that. Conceptualization and simulation in Vensim are extremely powerful tools for making sense of data and done right would be superior to AI on many fronts. The state of the art for how to do this can be found in the heads of dozens of skilled modelers around the world. Yeah, dozens. And the software and business processes to make it work probably can't be found in any organization. So, those dozens would be consultants. In other words, computer scientists have perfected the AI thing because it fits their philosophy about systems. But, that philosophy is missing a lot when it comes to social systems, like an organization. Perhaps if a organizaitons were more like gas giant planets, AI would be great. But, because they aren't its not. The modelling tools are very basic and easy to understand for starting researchers. They have a complete help section where most of your queries will be answered. Its overall one of the best modelling tool for system dynamics work. **What do you dislike about Vensim?** I disliked that without a professional version sensitivity analysis was not allowed to be performed on models. That really puts restrictions in our work. Similarly the excel lookups was not allowed in student version. These are some serious issues I faced while working with Vensim. **What problems is Vensim solving and how is that benefiting you?** I was creating a system dynamics model for my Master's in Vensim Ventana software. I was completely new to the subject and there is very less resources available online. The in built self- learning features in Vensim guided me to step by step in modelling. I used Vensim in my research to develop a system dynamics models for different construction management problems, I highly recommend it because of the ease of building models, friendly user interface, and the available explanation examples are very helpful. **What do you dislike about Vensim?** It has some features are not free for student licence and you need to pay for advanced features. **What problems is Vensim solving and how is that benefiting you?** I used it to work in my masters degree thesis and i had a nice experience. At the end i learned a lot of its tweaks mainly for MacOs. It seems to be one of the best software for system dynamics and has a nice free version. It is easy to learn and it is the best tool to practice system dynamics. It is relatively fast and has various features that cover all we need in system dynamics. The tool also has the easiest way of presenting the results. One can show the results by only clicking on the graph or table and they can be easily exported. The SyntheSim mode, let modelers check how change in one parameter will affect different variables immediately. Even plotting the causal loops in Vensim, makes a model that is very easy to communicate for presentations and posters. **What do you dislike about Vensim?** Some limitations like changing the way of optimization and its formula are the only thing I don’t like. This software is not that technical to have different ways of optimization and in very rare cases, one may need to export the data and apply their own method of formulation to it. **Recommendations to others considering Vensim:** If you are using system dynamics, you definitely should consider Vensim for modeling and simulation. **What problems is Vensim solving and how is that benefiting you?** I make system dynamics models using vensim. Some functions are very intuitive. The outputs it gives are very helpful for simulations. **What do you dislike about Vensim?** I very much dislike the graphics of the program. It looks like microsoft paint. Additionally, when trying to do more advanced things or get the program to do what you want, its a huge pain. It also has a feature of simulating two systems altogether and compare the results. Very apt for System analysis and actor mapping. **What do you dislike about Vensim?** It is sometimes tricky to delete the arrows that can be made user-friendly. **Recommendations to others considering Vensim:** As I stated before anyone who wants to pursue their career in research and specifically social science research, System Dynamic model and simulation are two qualitative approaches that are widely used. Vensim software provides leverage to model through free flow drawing and understands a specific system. No separate simulation modeling software is required, all can be done under one umbrella. You can also add this as technical skill in your resume if applying for Qualitative/Quantitative Research Data Analyst positions. It helped me and hopefully will help others too. **What problems is Vensim solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have used this for my projects and is very apt for qualitative research methods. I used this for one of my projects and one of my in-class assignment in the policy sector. I tried to simulate the system models and see the outcomes.
