I use this product every single day I'm at work and some days when I'm not. This is an incredible tool for health care providers of all sorts who want to stay up to date (lol) on data, treatment plans, etc., for their patients. Most employers provide this to their providers, but I use it so much it would be worth paying for if mine did not. **What do you dislike about UpToDate?** I have literally zero complaints. It is easy to digest, well laid out, and stays modified with the latest data to treat my patients efficiently and correctly with the standard of care. I was told this would be useful when I first began my schooling, but after graduating and starting to practice, it is safe to say it is the best. I keep the app on my phone's home screen and use it constantly. Seriously, get it. **Recommendations to others considering UpToDate:** PLEASE utilize this incredible resource available to healthcare providers with little to no cost to them directly. You will not regret it, and your patients will be so appreciative that you take the time to stay up to date on the standards of care. I recommend having it bookmarked on your computer, but the app is my personal favorite. I love being able to utilize it whenever and wherever I go. **What problems is UpToDate solving and how is that benefiting you?** Problems I solve: Knowing how, when, and the best way to treat my patients depending on their specific complaints. If you are unsure what you're dealing with, the search bar provides open-ended opportunities to deep dive into the science and find out. The benefits are those as well; it is simple to use and straightforward in giving answers. ### 6. UpToDate provides a wealth of information, including etiology, prevalence, common presentation, differential diagnosis, evidence-based management, and treatment algorithms. Each section is cited with relevant articles and studies that users can reference to examine the validity of specific management approaches. Additionally, UpToDate offers a significant amount of information about nearly every drug that is prescribed in the United States -- data ranges from typical dosages to pediatric dosages to adverse effects to drug-drug interactions to pregnancy classification. Simply put, UpToDate is indispensable as a platform. **What do you dislike about UpToDate?** While the online side of UpToDate is terrific, the mobile application is a bit more challenging to navigate. It contains all the same critical information -- symptoms, differential diagnoses, management algorithms, drug dosages -- but it is all a bit more clustered and difficult to find. Overall the mobile app experience is suitable, but it isn't exceptional. Other applications, such as Epocrates, offer a far more streamlined experience for searching drug dosages, for example. **Recommendations to others considering UpToDate:** My only recommendation is to stop reading this review and immediately ensure that you have access to UpToDate. While it is not the end (nor the beginning) of clinical thinking, it is an important adjunct to improve your clinical practice. **What problems is UpToDate solving and how is that benefiting you?** UpToDate significantly improves the practice of medicine by providing healthcare providers with critical information on an extraordinary amount of diseases, both common and uncommon. It is genuinely difficult to imagine working in a hospital that did not offer access to UpToDate as it would exponentially increase the difficulty of the task at hand. ### 8. Sometimes the search feature isn't amazing and you have to do a bit of clicking around to find exactly what you need but honestly that's pretty rare. **Recommendations to others considering UpToDate:** 100% recommend it for anyone in healthcare. It is an encyclopedia of medical and health-related information that is never outdated or unsupported by evidence. An invaluable resource for information about illnesses or injuries, treatments, symptoms, prognosis, everything. **What problems is UpToDate solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use UpToDate to stay current in my practice. It allows me to be certain I am providing care up to the most current standards and practices. It allows me to check that medications I am recommending to patients are being done so at the correct doses and times, I can check interactions between medications, I can see if medications are safe for breastfeeding. It allows me to know what is the first line of treatment for different ailments. ### 10. The fact that it is an app that can be accessed from any device with a thorough search engine is what makes it superior to looking things up on google. **What do you dislike about UpToDate?** Sometimes, the search results are a bit cluttered. I would say work on making the search engine not only search for terms and phrases but have it pull up the articles that have that term mentioned most first. Once in awhile the page that I am looking for is not the first choice but second or third. **What problems is UpToDate solving and how is that benefiting you?** I solve clinical problems with uptodate. Look up guidelines for medications and treatments, refreshing pathophysiology and finding the best diagnostic tests to use are all within the scope of uptodate. While sometimes the information provided is due to the bias of the provider writing the article, it is still important to help us keep an open mind of various treatment options. ### 13. Nothing else to comment on since it is an essential resource.
