The allocation view into engineering adds much needed accountability and visibility into what the engineering teams are doing, the active projects and their velocity/time investment. Being a manager of multiple teams managed by teams managers, I use the tool to detect roadblocks in the process. It is also interesting to analyse being always on and context switching factors; I use that data periodically to check those statistics with team members and discuss trends. I also like to regularly check Labs section e.g. Knowledge Silos is handy in determining areas requiring broader knowledge sharing. Initially, the accuracy of the data was not great; it was prone to local anomalies (e.g. person on vac); this improved a lot over time with the feedback given. Similarly, the tool needed time to recognise and correctly mark categories of meetings and do not calculate those unconfirmed by individuals. For instance, relying based on "yes" or "no" answers from the google calendar for the meeting hours doesn't really prove much. Maybe using the zoom apis might have been better?
