"Better Than Wordpress"

What do you like best?

I love that it is scalable and that It is able to be used on multiple worksites across the country, that I can work with a developer to connect anything else that I use. Its great that I can use it anywhere and set it up from wherever I am on my current systems. I like that the level of user engagement has seen a rise, and I love how fast it is.

Vibrant professional community backed by a strong commercial ecosystem.

What do you dislike?

I don't like the way it looks. I feel like it could be a little more user friendly in its design and could be slightly more updated for the current times and userbase.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you are looking for a free alternative to wordpress, and want to try something new, id give this a chance.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am currently solving the problem of being able to use my content management system wherever i want. That is the benefit that I have realized.

"TYPO3 is professional equipment you will enjoy very much after a steep learning curve."

What do you like best?

This is professional software, used by local governments, universities, German premier league football, airlines, broadcasting stations, national tax institution and many more. The community is vibrant, the software is very much focused on compliance with current standards (MVC / , DDD / Domain driven design, security). In fact, Dutch national signin with social security number (SSN) was built with this software (www.digid.nl). It is also very fast because of the extensive caching.

What do you dislike?

The learning curve is steep. And because of the continuous adaptation to the newest standards, it's like every 18 months you need to learn a new language. That is, if you stick to the basics, most is downwards compatible, but most extensions need at least a review, and probably a large amount of reprogramming to meet with standards.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If your audience is high-volume, or security demanding, or - once you get it to work - still working like a charm for the next 10 years ... then this is for you. Building a quick and dirty website, with a new design for every page, isn't going to help. Think of extensions (about 2,000) as a building block, for most use cases you can find several extensions that will help you with pretty much all business cases.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Websites. Webshops. Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Hotel bookings. Training courses. iDEAL payment integration. SME administration. Camper rental services. Author's list of articles for download. Food community membership registration, coupons for members, yearly overview of member's capital deposits with the community.

"Good desktop experience, poor mobile experience"

What do you like best?

The left column of tools make it easy to navigate while the search feature is extremely helpful for jumping straight to the page i need.

What do you dislike?

the mobile experience on smartphone and tablets is extremely poor. Making one or two small edits can take minutes on a smartphone compared to seconds on a desktop. A proper Android/iOS app would go a long way to making Typo3 more productive for its users.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Try out WordPress before diving into Typo3. There are definite pros and cons to each

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

we use Typo3 to power our 12 year old frontend website. All pages, plugins, articles, ads, images, and tools have been created using Typo3.

"It’s been around. If you used it in the past, give it a second look"

What do you like best?

TYPO3 has been around for a long time. In a world where products are coming and going and the trends change it is nice to know that some products are around forever.

TYPO3 is flexible and free. It’s powerful and has great potential to fill the gaps where many products have holes.

What do you dislike?

TYPO3 has a bit of a learning curve and while it does offer great power and flexibility it can be a chore at times, to no particular fault of its own, but due to the nature of getting two systems to meet in the middle of a third.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Tupo3 works well for quick publishing of digital content across a vast array of mediums because it offers so much flexibility. It works for support, marketing, and internal projects as well.

"Easy to use User Interface"

What do you like best?

The best part about Typo3 is the user interface. Anyone that isn't afraid to click and drag, experiment, or try new solutions will be more than happy with Typo3.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes plug-ins, like the one for MailChimp, do not work or sync correctly. This has caused us to have to develop our forms using custom HTML creating far more work than we intended.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We needed a better solution to maintaining our very expansive website, we found that with Typo3 we could easily manage add/delete users while only allowing them certain permissions to help maintain the site.

I feel as though the form of interaction is great within the program.

What do you like best?

It has many options, and I'm sure is pretty powerful.

Making any changes on the frontend is excruciating.

There are many other optins, much better supported and not so convoluted.

"Ready-Made Extensions "

What do you like best?

TYPO3 bright side is the ability to create multiple and independent types of content on every page separately. For instance, you may create regular text, forms, file links, multimedia, etc

What do you dislike?

You can only use this if you have more than 20 pages

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Helps me a lot with content management
