The fact that I can switch between formats with a click in a second. It's so convenient to categorise in as many ways as possible, between formats, between WBS and filters Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Access to the software is hindered by its many add on features, you can no longer Export / Import your estimate data to a functional software, At least i have found no way in Export / Import say a CSV file to take advantage of of my historical cost data nor have i found away to copy and paste from old estimates without having to go through a mine field . WinEst allows for uniformity and clarity. Having the ability to mange your views, reports, assignments etc. allows for bid teams to put together a highly detailed estimate quickly and efficiently. Being able to develop database items ensures that every bid you produce will have the same look and feel - important for repeat clients. Winest also allows for simple importing of takeoff from programs like OST. WinEst's feature that allows for multiple users to edit the estimate at the same time is unbelievably useful. At times, WinEst controls feel counter intuitive. Also the tools available for actually developing the database can feel clunky. This means taht if you do not take the time to create a robust import file, you will spend a serious amount of time fixing your errors.

WinEst is also an object based database which means that it is difficult to do mass dumps of information (mainly takeoff) into the program. While this is great for ensuring that everything is done purposefully, it does lead to extended hours of data entry Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Distribution abilities, subcontractor communication tools, ease of use. When your company really commits to using the software it really becomes powerful. The incentive for subcontractors is to be thorough when entering their own information, so the information you can find when preparing a bid is very accurate and helpful. "Old-School" interface, some information doubled up or redundant. Some subcontractors are not accurate with information and it skews results. Sometimes the interface of the program seems bulky. WinEst was very easy to use while creating an estimate. The features were relatively simple but allowed me to create a full and detailed estimate. Could easily create different phases and options within the one estimate. You can also create a pretty detailed estimate with one "group condition" add. There are also a lot of detailed items so you can get a accurate estimate. You can also add items that are not listed in their system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Some of the functions are hidden within menu tabs. It will take a minute to find the features. My company gave us a full day class on how to use all the features and that was very beneficial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
