I have partnered with SyncWords since early 2020 on more than 100 virtual broadcasts and hybrid studio events. They've supported e2k events for National Geographic, The Wall Street Journal, Emerson Collective, the Computer History Museum, HBO, among others. Without fail, SyncWords have delivered exceptional real human-captioning services, bespoke technical setups that integrate with various e2k studios and virtual platforms, auto-translation into multiple languages, and same-day and overnight support when necessary. What do you like best about SyncWords?

Not only is SyncWords' range of products and solutions exceptional and cutting-edge in our industry, but their service and support model is second to none. They are always by our side until the project is complete. They handily cope with schedule changes and last-minute requests from our clients, and I cannot think of one instance where they didn't go above and beyond to make our events better, smarter and more accessible. What do you dislike about SyncWords?

There is nothing we dislike. The offering is what it says on the tin -- competent, affordable captioning tools. Same-day transcription and live/human captioning are reasonably priced. There have been zero technical errors or failures. It truly is top-notch.

We are excited for the day when machine captioning and translation will be as proficient as having a human do the work, but we're not quite there yet. So we still rely on SyncWords' excellent stable of human staff. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SyncWords solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are providing real-time transcription (closed and open captions) to virtual and live event attendees who need accessibility support. This service runs alongside other features we provide, such as ASL (American Sign Language) interpretation, simul-translated audio streams in other languages, high-contrast and screen-reader-capable webpages for event attendees, and more.

SyncWords have helped us embed captions directly into live and pre-recorded videos... into smart widgets on our virtual event platforms that open on request and don't impede the visual experience... into custom HTTPS feeds that our studios teams can ingest, stylize and embed into our broadcasts... and more. SyncWords are always looking to expand their technical know-how and we've had fun experimenting together with new solutions as the virtual event world has taken deeper root throughout the 2020-2021 pandemic. They make the tech easy-to-understand and work with via a coherent, nonintimidating dashboard. Their staff consistently goes above and beyond to make sure you're getting what you need. Their dedication to making sure we had a successfully captioned show included extensive rounds of testing (for which we are grateful for their staff's patience), incredible attention to client needs, knowledgeable advice on best practices, and unparalleled communication (with fast, regular responses to emails and messages). Nothing to dislike really. The big problem doesn't have anything to do with Syncwords, it's the fact that languages don't translate at a one-word to one-word level so that timings of captions, which have been translated are always going to be somewhat out of sync with a speaker. We've solved a very specific problem with Syncwords: identifying the most optimal, low-latency, highest accuracy solution to captioning and translating live events. We were able to compare AI and human workflows to determine which would best fit client needs. We were also trying to solve the problem of onscreen (608) captions obscuring lower third graphics. PheedLoop is an all-in-one event management software for in-person, hybrid and virtual events. One of our products is a virtual event solution that allows our clients to host conferences, trade shows, meetings, and similar events in an online format. An important arm of this is the ability to stream (pre-recorded and live) sessions to audiences. Many of our clients require the ability to offer presentations in multiple languages. Others simply need captioning in the native language of their event to comply with accessibility requirements. SyncWords allows us to meet all of these requirements via an extremely smooth integration in which their captioning widget is integrated directly within our virtual portal. We have hundreds of clients using the SyncWords integration who are all extremely happy with it. The SyncWords team are wonderful partners backed by a reliable and affordable product! SyncWord's offers a terrific captioning solution but I believe it is only available with an AI captioning option. I think it would be great to add an option for a human captioner option.
