What do you like best about Symantec PAM?

The A2A Funtionality which gives the customer ability to pass on creds to bots and script in most secured way possible. The Clustering abilities. Hybrid Environment.

What do you dislike about Symantec PAM?

Well The cluster fuctions needs to be more optimised. We have gone through many issues in cluster in 3.3 which was indded fixed later on but there are still issues which persist and can be looked into.

The other thing is since its a closed environment we often need some customization which is not easiliy available. Sometimes the voice of customer are heard early sometime it takea s lots of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Symantec PAM:

Ofcourse I will recommend broadcom PAM if such opportunity is presented to me. Also I know the features and streangth of the product to display its value. What do you like best about Symantec PAM?

this product is good for endpoint security Symantec Endpoint Security delivers the most complete, integrated endpoint security platform on the planet. What do you dislike about Symantec PAM?

The stability was not the best. There were times when antivirus updates broke it. It wasn't necessarily self-updating - at least, not in terms of the virus signatures. It updated in terms of the executable files. Therefore, when Windows updates would come out, they often couldn't be installed, or the computer would hang due to the fact that the updates weren't compatible with the antivirus. Recommendations to others considering Symantec PAM:

We decided to review the security of our endpoints because of the large of number of computers being hacked. We had good experience with Symantec in our servers so we decided to have it installed in all our computers. With Symantec Endpoint, you can deploy to PCs as a standalone antivirus or through the Symantec Management console. With the management console, you can push Symantec agent .The Symantec product by itself is a fairly good "Reactive" software. We have used it for years and it consistently blocks known Malware. However, the customer support since moving to Broadcom is the worst support i have seen in 30 years. There is no way to speak to someone, and they will not call or escalate no matter how many times you request it. We have been forced to abandon our Symantec Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Endpoint Protection scans computers for security threats. It is used to prevent unapproved programs from running, and to apply firewall policies that block or allow network traffic. What do you like best about Symantec PAM?

Initially the ease of deploying the appliances. It has gotten more difficult due to our growing knowledge and desire for greater HA and redundancy. Rotating a password either manually or via scheduled job works as expected. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Symantec PAM?

It doesn't integrate with all of our products and there is no agent for the Mainframe to allow for A2A to initiate from the mainframe to the mainframe or other distributed systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Symantec PAM:

Make sure you have buy in from the top. No solution for this is cheap and you must have CEO, CISO approval for such a product. They can help sell it to the other groups in the organization. If you don't have buy in, people will find back doors or reasons they can't use the solution. Remind them that this could (if implemented properly) eliminate audit findings! What problems is Symantec PAM solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our company had home-grown solutions for managing root on linux and admin on windows servers. They worked but were not designed with the strictest security in mind. Home grown solutions become a problem over time. The people that created them move on and people lose documentation on how to support it. It also can be difficult to upgrade as OS changes come about. We needed a more robust product that could be supported exclusively by the security team. We needed a better option for protecting privileged application IDs especially in our LINUX systems. We needed a product that could stand up to a SOX, PCI and/or HIPAA audit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
