Part of my ritual for board preparation – as a creator or consumer – is to snap into focus in Surfboard. It always helps with consistency, clarity, and repeatability. Having a host of companies within our studio using the platform leads to cross-pollination which makes all of our meetings that much better. **What do you dislike about Surfboard?** I suppose this is less about Surfboard and more about me, but I know I've yet to reach the full potential that Surfboard offers and I'm looking forward to putting in a little effort to do just that. **What problems is Surfboard solving and how is that benefiting you?** I rely on Surfboard to help manage board meetings, structure meetings, provide a centralized repository for materials, and to have engagement around those materials. ### 4. We post every week. We post monthly for financials. And we post quarterly financial statements and an in-depth review of the quarter. Every time I hop on a call with the board, an investor, or an advisor, we don't waste any time with an update because they are already in the loop. Saves us so much time! - The Surfboard team is super responsive if anything is buggy (which can be expected from a rapidly growing tech company), and they get it fixed immediately or in the next sprint **What do you dislike about Surfboard?** Sometimes our Surfboard invites go to folk's spam folders. This can be difficult with our CVCs because the firm may block the link. 99/100, we can get approval from IT, and everything works out fine - just a bit of extra leg work to get the investor on the platform. **What problems is Surfboard solving and how is that benefiting you?** When we get to the board meeting, we can spend less time on the more 'administration topics' because folks are well informed, leaving us more time to focus on the mission-critical topics. ### 6. I also really enjoy the AI assistant in helping to craft clear messaging. **What do you dislike about Surfboard?** I think the filing system could better mirror the filing experience on my dropbox/computer. **What problems is Surfboard solving and how is that benefiting you?** It keeps a remote and widely dispursed group organized and on tasks leading up to and during board meetings. ### 7. Also, the new AI integration makes prepping for board meetings so much faster! **What do you dislike about Surfboard?** Nothing really, the Surfboard team is building features in record time and if there is something unclear, the support is amazing! **What problems is Surfboard solving and how is that benefiting you?** Managing the board meetings can be time-consuming and by not effectively activating the investors, we could be missing opportunities. Easy to share board meeting materials before the meeting, so we can focus on strategic discussion during the meeting. 2. Easy to share frequent updates with board & investors in between meetings. 3. Easy to ask for help and follow up with board members & investors for the requests. **What do you dislike about Surfboard?** I still need to be self-desciplined to write updates and board meeting materials, which takes time and effort as I constantly juggle other priorities as a founder. **What problems is Surfboard solving and how is that benefiting you?** Preparing board meeting materials and monthly updates in various places such as Google doc and email. Instead, I can centralize all my meeting materials and updates in Surfboard, and avoid making a deck. It also makes it easy for me to follow up on action items and continued discussions of strategic topics with board members, and for me to make requests / ask for help whenever I need them. ### 9. I love going to one place and having all of my board content available for me, I love frequent updates and engagements with my entrepreneurs and I love that the product spurs more conversations. **What do you dislike about Surfboard?** I haven't encountered a real downside on my end. I imagine there's some work for the team to bring insights to light in the platform, but then again, with integrations and leveraging AI, it should actually be easier than doing it any other way. **What problems is Surfboard solving and how is that benefiting you?** Surfboard makes it easier to stay up to date on what's happening with my companies. It's a one stop shop for all of the content and updates so I always know where to look.
