Exceptional performance, Proactive Support, Hybrid-SSD/All-Flash, Commodity Hardware, Low Cost of Entry. StorPool's uploading speed is impressive and very resourceful. We appreciate the ease of administration, especially the CLI option. We respect the exceptional level of support. The design and architecture of StorPool made it a great product. Because it is impossible to coordinate thousands concerning downtime, storage is essential for cloud providers. **What do you dislike about StorPool?** We use StorPool Storage in our OpenStack Cloud to measure the performance of our applications. It has enough room to accommodate any amount of content. It's used for performance testing and application development, and as a result, it has a high throughput requirement. It does not yet have the capability of supporting distributed filesystems or object storage systems. It will be necessary to add another layer. **Recommendations to others considering StorPool:** StorPool is revolutionizing the way data is stored and accessed. At a reasonable price, it offers high-quality performance and storage capacity. Cloud service providers or managed service providers that offer storage or infrastructure can use StorPool. **What problems is StorPool solving and how is that benefiting you?** StorPool has replaced multiple storage systems with one cluster. It reduces power consumption, increases performance, and decreases storage switch costs. StorPool has one of the best scanning processes to meet security standards. Scale-up and scale-out at predictable costs with low capital expenses upfront and competitive pricing in the future. ### 2. The look and feel of the application is great making the user experience awesome. Moreover the application is very easy to use. **What do you dislike about StorPool?** Storpool application we used for was for a client. Lot of features were disabled. So we did not have the chance to fully use the application. They also provide a built in JSON-API which makes monitoring the cluster a lot easier. Finally, we greatly appreciate the high level of support. **What do you dislike about StorPool?** The graphical interface shows monitoring and stats, but not operations. **What problems is StorPool solving and how is that benefiting you?** When eApps launched it’s Virtual Cloud Server platform in 2011, Xen was the most widely used choice for the underlying virtualization. Since that time, however, KVM has emerged as the leading virtualization technology. In order to provide the best possible hosting service for our customers, we made the decision to convert from Xen to KVM. A project of this scope required extensive testing and planning. A key contributor to our efforts was StorPool.. The guidance and assistance that StorPool provided was invaluable in the development of our approach and plan. StorPool helped us in many ways, including the following aspects: * Presented us with an approach to migrate Virtual Servers, without having to perform a cumbersome and time consuming process to copy data over into new Virtual Servers * Assisted with our analysis of the operating systems we needed to migrate and helped identify specific configuration changes required for various OS templates * Wrote a migration script to automate the migration process * Provided documentation on how to use their migration script to perform the migrations * Responded quickly during our testing and planning phase with answers and advice on any questions we had The plan we developed with the expert assistance of StorPool is allowing us to perform the Xen to KVM migration efficiently and accurately, and with minimal customer downtime. Some other factors such as cost-efficiency, implementation, and support also helped StorPool stand out in the decision-making process. **What do you dislike about StorPool?** Support for VMware is with iSCSI at this point. This is fine, but we're waiting for the full VMware integration they are working on. **Recommendations to others considering StorPool:** Coreix’s customers now benefit from increased up-time and availability and flash-performance, delivered by features such as high availability and live migration and SSD/NVMe support. Anyone who needs these benefits should have a look at them. **What problems is StorPool solving and how is that benefiting you?** We had issues with speed (IOPS) and reliability. A SAN can be extremely resilient, but to get enough IOPS, you need to spend significant CAPEX. We didn’t want to spend massive sums of money on a massive chassis, that could take 1PB from day one. SANs involve a lot of CAPEX. It’s cost-prohibitive for us. We needed a model where we could scale on a pay-as-you grow basis. StorPool has helped us provide a better service for our customers. As our demands grew, and as our customers’ expectations increased, our existing storage solution simply couldn’t cope. Now we’re confident that StorPool will grow with us, and that together we’ll be able to rise to any storage challenge we face. ### 7. We are confident, not only that the product was the right product, because of the design and the architectural aspects, but also that the team behind it was very engaged and had the skills and ability to support a service provider. For a cloud provider, the storage is a system which cannot be taken down, even for maintenance, because it’s impossible to coordinate thousands of customers regarding downtime. With StorPool, however, we don’t have to worry about that. **What do you dislike about StorPool?** The graphical interface is for monitoring and stats, but not for operations. **What problems is StorPool solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our operations and development teams were fire-fighting storage-related problems in a large portion of their time. I.e. storage is critical to the cloud, it is the biggest challenge. For a service provider, it is very difficult to get a good storage system that’s able to deal with the demands of all different customers in parallel. It has very different requirements compared to a traditional storage system. Also, many of our customers are leading global enterprises like Deutsche Boerse Group, SIEMENS, CERN, European Space Agency, and many more. We cannot make any mistakes. Storage has to be reliable and fast, with prompt and professional support, as it is one of the most mission-critical systems of the Cloud. ### 8. Scaling is as easy as adding a few commodity flash drives! Storpool has replaced multiple storage arrays with a single cluster allowing us to reduce power consumption; increase performance and decrease storage switch costs. ### 9. Our previous system used bare-metal hardware, which provided high performance but inflexible management. Now we have best of both worlds, SSD class performance with flexibility of a private cloud system. **What do you dislike about StorPool?** Actually, there is nothing which we do not like. StorPool offers superior performance at affordable prices, so there is nothing to complain about. **Recommendations to others considering StorPool:** Software defined storage is the new “storage”. StorPool offers superior performance at affordable prices, backed by a professional team. **What problems is StorPool solving and how is that benefiting you?** As number of servers grew, management and lack of flexibility became a problem. StorPool is a software only solution with practically unlimited expansion capabilities. Its performance is very high, we were able to replace our SSD only local storage systems without any performance penalty.
