## Confluence Reviews
  ### 1. Confluence as a Centralized, Auditable Control Plane for Security and Compliance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zeeshan Z. | Information Security Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Confluence?**

From a security management perspective, I don't look at Confluence as just a "wiki." I look at it as a centralized, auditable control plane for our intellectual property. In a modern threat landscape, shadow IT and fragmented documentation (like random PDFs and local Word docs) are a nightmare for compliance and data loss prevention (DLP). Here is what I like best about Confluence from a risk-mitigation and governance standpoint:
1. Granular Access Control & "Atlassian Guard" Integration
2. Comprehensive Audit LoggingIn the event of an incident, the "who, what, and when" are non-negotiable. Confluence’s audit logs track everything from permission changes and page exports to global settings modifications.
3. Versioning allows Compliance frameworks like ISO 27001 and SOC 2 require us to prove that policies are reviewed and that unauthorized changes aren't made silently.

**What do you dislike about Confluence?**

Permission Complexity: It is dangerously easy to accidentally "leak" sensitive pages because permissions can be set at the site, space, and individual page levels simultaneously.

"Public" Sharing Risks: A single misconfigured checkbox can expose internal documentation to the entire internet, making it a major risk for accidental data breaches.

Shadow IT Apps: The Marketplace allows users to request third-party plugins that may not meet company security standards or have poor data-handling practices.

Search Clutter: The search function often returns outdated or duplicate versions of documents, leading to "version sprawl" where staff follow the wrong security protocols.

The "Everything" Bucket: Users treat it like a junk drawer, uploading massive files or sensitive credentials (like passwords) in plain text, which requires constant manual auditing.

Export Vulnerability: It is very easy for a user to export an entire "Space" as a PDF or XML file and take the company's intellectual property with them when they leave.

**What problems is Confluence solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The "Single Source of Truth" Problem: It stops employees from using outdated versions of security policies or incident response plans saved on their local desktops.

Knowledge Silos: It prevents "tribal knowledge" (information living only in one person's head) from disappearing when an employee leaves the company.

Shadow IT Documentation: It reduces the urge for teams to use unapproved, insecure "lite" note-taking apps by providing a powerful, company-sanctioned alternative.

Audit Trail Gaps: It eliminates the mystery of who changed a document and when, which is a constant struggle with traditional shared drives.

The "File Gap": It bridges the divide between task execution (Jira) and the "why" behind it (Documentation), ensuring security requirements are actually linked to the work being done.

  ### 2. Company's internal Wikipedia

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roxy L. | Account Executive, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Confluence?**

The wealth of knowledge it can host, accessibility, format and the search feature

**What do you dislike about Confluence?**

Too many 'archived' and outdated pages - too easy to 'hoard' information when, for example, an author of a page leaves the company. Ideally, a solution would be to disable pages that do not have an 'active' existing user.

**What problems is Confluence solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easily accessible internal information, in a secure and organised way

  ### 3. Helpful at work!

**What do you like best about Confluence?**

I use it for documenting, Sprint and Quarterly Planning, Sharing crucial information such as Knowledge transfers and record the handovers in Confluence.

**What do you dislike about Confluence?**

Though I don't have any specific dislikes but still I think some of the excel features can be brought into Confluence.

**What problems is Confluence solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using confluence since December 2020 along with Jira.
It is easy to learn and interesting to explore.
1. I can several pages, files, I can format them, insert tables, link my co-workers against specific assignments, insert Charts, diagrams, images etc.,
The list goes on.,
2. In my project, we use Confluence pages for capturing various versions of requirements,
3. We create LLD (Low Level Designs) & HLD (High level Designs) and share them with the customer for review.
4. We capture Risk Mgmt & Change Mgmt., in some of the pages of Confluence.
5. The best part is that Confluence maintains a history in versions and allows anyone to Edit / View based on the permissions.

  ### 7. Flexible tool to customize your workspace needs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Confluence?**

I love Confluence - we store a whole bunch of data and internal documentation there, and I cannot imagine going a day without using it. It is really a very flexible tool that allows you to manage your teams and workspaces in a rather intuitive manner. It's extremely easy to build out a new space or customize an existing one. Confluence also integrates flawlessly with other apps, such as Slack which we use a lot, so it makes a perfect symbiotic relationship minimizing your clicks throughout the day and letting you do your job.

**What do you dislike about Confluence?**

What I don't like about Confluence is the behavior of its Search function. It's main cons are that it's usually pretty slow to load up search results, and more importantly, the quality of search results often does not meet your expectations. It will sometimes look for an exact match of a word from a phrase which you don't need, and you may find the result you're looking for only at the bottom of the search page

**What problems is Confluence solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest advantage Confluence brings to the table for me and my team is the platform for storing our internal documentation. Our team has lots of documents and data to manage, and we're usually the ones to generate most of the internal documentation, so keeping everything tidy and clean and easy to use is something we have to spend less time on because we're using Confluence.

  ### 8. Decent tool for Process Documentation

**What do you dislike about Confluence?**

**What problems is Confluence solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralized area for all process documentation
