Our setup is simple and it fit in perfectly with it. **What problems is StarWind HyperConverged Appliance solving and how is that benefiting you?** Wanted a more straightforward failover system without too many pieces in play. The StarWind customer support team is fantastic. I have purchased more expensive storage appliances in the past and received nowhere near the level of dedication and support that I have seen from their team. The new storage monitoring dashboard is also an excellent tool; we look forward to any future updates to see what it has in store! **What do you dislike about StarWind HyperConverged Appliance?** The only complaint I have is their use of the FedEx Freight Shipping Service for SMB, as we are at a location that does not have a dock, so this created some headache. Storage Performance on the cluster may not be a high as some other solutions due to the replication between nodes, but you can not find a better offering at this price point. Some of the suggestions they have regarding not using EDR tools on the host tools may not be a best practice from a security standpoint, but we do not see it as a significant issue. **What problems is StarWind HyperConverged Appliance solving and how is that benefiting you?** It replaced aging Cluster-In-A-Box solutions that have no direct replacement product. Starwind provides us an even higher level of availability, reliability and at a lower price point. ### 3. It is easy to use and even easier to walk away from while it manages itself. The support though - that is where the company shines. **What do you dislike about StarWind HyperConverged Appliance?** There is not much to dislike about the product. It seriously delivers on every turn. The only challenge was the initial cost. The sticker price is high and can be shocking, but you get what you pay for all day long. **What problems is StarWind HyperConverged Appliance solving and how is that benefiting you?** The appliance helped us eliminate a large physical server bank. We reduced our power consumption and overhead and made management of the entire environment easy as pie. ### 5. We are able to do our own hardware and software upgrades without limitations. Other vendors require us or do not allow full access to the underlying architecture. The only portion we would like to see improved at this time would be the StarWinds Command Center application they have developed to make management more effortless. However, it is a supplemental tool to go along with HyperV Manager and Failover cluster manager, so it does not detract from the solution's usability. **Recommendations to others considering StarWind HyperConverged Appliance:** I would recommend you utilize StarWinds HyperConverged Appliance Solution or VSAN solution, depending on your current hardware. The solution works as advertised, the performance is as expected, and the cost savings are significant. **What problems is StarWind HyperConverged Appliance solving and how is that benefiting you?** We wanted to find a more dynamically scalable solution with a lower upfront capital cost than the previous physical SAN unit and independent virtual hosts. Using StarWinds we have realized a much lower upfront cost due to hardware-agnostic support and realized our goal of a scalable solution. ### 12. I didn't have any real issues with anything but the small ones I did have, their support was able to address them quickly and efficiently. They also monitor our setup 24/7 which gives me the peace of mind of someone constantly monitoring our situation and alerting us if necessary. **What do you dislike about StarWind HyperConverged Appliance?** There isn't really anything I dislike. I do wish they had some advanced metrics but I am more interested in it working and it works, it just does. **What problems is StarWind HyperConverged Appliance solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have addressed issues of disk space and speed with SW HCA. We went with their all Flash solution and still came in at at budget. Doing this gave us more space than we will need anytime soon and at a much faster access speed! It also brought us to the point of being able to do updates and failovers with minimal downtime. In fact, during our migration we had a 99.99% uptime. The users didn't even know that it took place. The only servers that had a downtime were the ones that were on legacy Vmware free software, so certainly not Starwinds fault. ### 13. We got a new all-flash hyperconverged appliance and the performance is great. The Starwind VSAN software is pretty much invisible and we manage this just like any other Hyper-V cluster, no special skills to learn. **What do you dislike about StarWind HyperConverged Appliance?** Starwind has a new management console that allows managing the cluster via a web interface, but it isn't really straightforward to see how much free space is left on the CSVs. **What problems is StarWind HyperConverged Appliance solving and how is that benefiting you?** We replaced an aging HP cluster that was using VMWare with a traditional SAN. For an SMB, SANs can be overkill if you don't need a tremendous amount of storage. The Starwind HCA came in at a much more competitive pricepoint than a traditional SAN setup with much less complexity. We were able to have a full high availability cluster without the enterprise pricing. ### 16. The big players are a stretch pricewise for the clients in this range and Starwind beats them everytime Having said that – Starwind performs just as well performance wise. I opt for all flash arrays everytime and I see they made the announcement they are only selling all flash. This is a great move as all flash at the server level is an absolute game changer. Whole environments run so much smoother and really makes the IT admins life easier. If we have to deploy on prem servers its all flash or nothing for us. Having instant failover redundancy helps me sleep easier at night. What also sets Starwind apart is the support. They have techs that are not just call routers that actually know and can troubleshoot issues 24x7. Most do have accents which may be an issue for some, but everyone I have worked with in support has been patient and professional so in my opinion this is not an issue. Besides at the end of the day the goal is to solve issues which you definitely will achieve. There are several other competitors in this space which I did look at, but Starwind was just really easy to work with, has resources on every team to get you what you need (Pre sales, design, management escalation, and tech support) provided the specs I needed, so I didn’t really need to look much further. How they can offer all of this and 24x7 level support and provide the hardware at extremely affordable costs is beyond me. They will reach out to you if they get any alerts from your cluster. The technicians are very knowledgeable as well. The first tech has always been able to resolve any issues without needing to escalate. They also offer a switchless cluster for 2-3 nodes. No need to manage a separate stack of SAN switches. **What do you dislike about StarWind HyperConverged Appliance?** We had a server lose Sync with the other two servers and it had to have a Full Synchronization performed which took about 1 day. During this time I didn't notice any performance decay but it did leave us without the third node of protection during that time. Tech support is great but because it is based in Ukraine there may be some language barriers if you have trouble understanding thick accents. **What problems is StarWind HyperConverged Appliance solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a highly available cluster of servers to host critical business servers for our customers. We liked the simplicity of hyperconverged over typical cluster/SAN and Starwind is working perfectly for this. ### 19.
