I created a video subscription service and needed a video hosting service. I have plenty of storage and bandwidth for my needs. The plans are reasonably priced. They convert from any video format. I've never had any issues with playback of performance. Although I've had little interaction with their support, when I have contacted them, they were prompt, courteous, and professional. I had a project that included an ad test. My client wanted survey takers to view the ad, but not have the ability to back up, move forward, pause, etc. I searched different video hosting sites with players and couldn't find one that would fit my needs. Ease of use. We were able to get up and running quickly and were happy that Sproutvideo's features matched our unique requirements. In particular, we needed to be able to manage viewer logins, and Sproutvideo allows you to create (or batch upload) unique viewer logins and monitor viewer analytics for those logins. Their customer success team was also helpful and responsive.

We only used Sproutvideo for one video uploaded, but the video was viewed by hundreds of people. We were able to track every login, set start/stop access times, as well as control the number of times the video could be viewed, all of which helped keep the video secure and prevent redistribution.

Sproutvideo's pricing plan is mostly centered around how large of an audience you'll be sharing with, so it's important to consider whether its entire feature set is needed or whether a cheaper option would be sufficient. There weren't any major issues since we've started using Sproutvideo. We did have a little trouble figuring out how to handle live streaming our video (their documentation on Zoom integration could be better). This issue was resolved by talking to the customer success team.

SproutVideo is a great space for our product to be consumed by specific viewers around the world, where we have to be very sensitive in terms of delivering the video product to selected viewers. The personalization of the website to include specific frame grabs and adding metadata is impressive and easy to use. The setup for the end-user experience is also intuitive and straightforward. Honestly, the only possible fault that I can see is that sometimes, if you give limited views on a specific video to a specific client, the loading affects the count of views and they come back to say that they cannot view, which means we have to reset their views. Control. I can store my videos and retain complete control of how, where, and when they are accessed. I can create passwords to view, embed code, playlists, and have a public-facing page if I want to. I also get stats on viewing. Initially, I had a narrow focus - creating video for my courses - but now I don't hesitate to create a video to communicate and train staff, clients, or even explain something to my brother. I love that I can manage my videos, control access settings, create my own "site" landing page and pull reports to see who has been using the content and who hasn't. In our business this is crucial, as we license access to corporations and sometimes it's tricky getting our contacts to respond to us. Sprout was a perfect solution for creating a site to serve videos to only select users/clients. We needed to adhere to NDA terms, so having someone able to access the videos, which shouldn't be, would be a big issue. Sprout was a turnkey solution to be able to gate and track access to our content. The tracking of viewership in Sprout was vastly superior to services like YouTube. The price is a bit higher than similar services. If you don't need any of Sprout's unique functionality, there is likely a cheaper option you could use to get by.
