We had to set up a clear workflow with their team after implementation. Once we addressed that, everything is smooth now. - The integration is only via SFTP. **What problems is Sparrow solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have employees across 34 states in the US. I have heard of friends and family using other leave-managers that were ripe with problems and inefficiencies, but the Sparrow reps only needed the dates I was taking my parental leave and they handled the rest. There were a few documents to sign to allow them to manage the state-level processes, but even that only took a few minutes. There were no concerns about missed pay and the reps were communicative through the entire process. **What do you dislike about Sparrow?** No downsides - the user experience is very frictionless. I cannot speak to the ease of implementation at the enterprise level. **What problems is Sparrow solving and how is that benefiting you?** Parental leave is a tricky space that involves a lot of paperwork at the state-federal level as well as within your company's HR org. Receiving nudges, updates, and inquiries about not only the status of the filed claim, but also the check-ins about personal well-being have made the process less daunting and lonely. I truly feel like there is someone always there to answer questions and provide any support I might need. Very easy to setup the portal and to check on the estimated payment frequency and amounts during the period of disabilitiy. **What do you dislike about Sparrow?** As with everything involving communication b/w doctors and insurance, it sometimes feels like like a black box as to who needs to be contacted regarding each aspect of the process when multiple forms need to be signed and transferred b/w parties. Adding a third party (Spraoow) into this mix feels like it complicates the process at points and and others, I am not sure what it is that Sparrow is actually helping me with...I am a very resourceful person, so I feel like I could have navigated some aspects of this process myself without the need for additional communication / required supplemental paperwork with Sparrow when I was already being forced to wrangle cats b/w doctor's office and insurance companies. **What problems is Sparrow solving and how is that benefiting you?** I guess it feels like it is there to outsource and simplify the process for business HR departments in order to have a dedicated staff to provide resources and support to their employees (first and foremost) and be a life line throughout the process for employees (secondary) ### 22. I had had another leave administrator at a prior company, with whom I still had to do quite a bit of admin work. I couldn't believe that Sparrow could log into the EDD and do my own paperwork for me, even update my address, and that they followed up on all my checks to make sure I received them. A postpartum mom has no business dealing with filing paperwork, and they take care of ALL of it for you. They built a detailed spreadsheet to make it clear to me when my various sources of income were coming in, and from whom. They even strategized with me and helped me when one of my disability insurance providers was not coordinating well with my doctor over some required paperwork. On the platform, you're able to enter your FMLA credentials and the Sparrow team will complete all of the necessary steps for you within the respective FMLA site. There were a few questions I had along the way regarding the process or benefits payout and my leave specialist was always there to help, often following up to make sure everything was in order. As a new parent (or anyone with a newborn) this is essential support. **What do you dislike about Sparrow?** Nothing comes to mind whatsoever. My original leave specialist (I believe) left the business, so I did need to work with two employees during the process. However, the second leave specialist was fully informed on what was already done and what was left to do. **What problems is Sparrow solving and how is that benefiting you?** As a recipient of the benefits, this removed most of the stress and time involved when planning for leave, ensuring benefits were in order, etc. ### 29. Before being at having Sparrow as a benefit, I was on the phone for hours calling EDD etc, and figuring out the process. Since I have had Sparrow, I have been able to save so much time and this has allowed me to be more present at work and also connect with my baby during my leave. **What do you dislike about Sparrow?** Sparrow was super helpful, I do not have any negative feedback **What problems is Sparrow solving and how is that benefiting you?** Throughout my maternity leave (and pre- leave), Sparrow was amazing in helping me navigate disability, pay and bonding leave. ### 33. I didn't realize that I can take weeks off starting at 38 weeks pregnant that do not count toward my postpartum time off (I believe they count as disability), which meant that I worked until the day I delivered. This is partly my fault because I didn't understand maternity leave law and disability leave law. **What problems is Sparrow solving and how is that benefiting you?** Maternity leave is a super complex process and Sparrow helped me clearly understand my benefits. ### 34. She has been with me every step of the way from planning leave, checking in while on leave, working through some complications, representing me to my company's HR team, and more. The partnership has been invaluable in helping me supported while taking leave. It was great how easy they made it in filing paperwork on my behalf! **What do you dislike about Sparrow?** We had some hiccups in that I was not properly being reimbursed for my leave payments and had a significant delta in what I received vs. what I was supposed to receive. I had to spend several hours on the reconciliation and call out Sparrow's errors a few times to get this fixed. Unfortunately this took a lot of time and I will need to do the same reconciliation at the end of my leave given I no longer trust Sparrow's compensation reconciliation to be correct given ~2+ errors in the recon process previously. **What problems is Sparrow solving and how is that benefiting you?** - Filed all paperwork on my behalf - time and headspace saver - Communicated with my company's HR on my behalf - time saver, neutral third party, aided difficult conversations ### 35. Sparrow takes all the stress out of receiving your benefits so you can focus on the most important thing; recovery. All of the features were easy to use, simple to understand, and reliable. Sparrow made a very complex and complicated situation streamlined and efficient. I can't say enough good things about it. Working with Ginger was genuinely a pleasure. Not only did she made everything simple by taking things off my plate and ensuring I fully understood, but she did it with empathy and personality. I'm back to work now and must admit I miss our chats! I've worked in Customer Service for over 20 years and I can only strive to be as good as she was. **What do you dislike about Sparrow?** Nothing. Once passing off the support to Sparrow, they took all communcation, which made my life a lot easier because it is a lot of work communicating with the state on paternity leave. They also clearly set expectations (like i would not get my check from the state for multiple weeks).
