**What do you like best about SolidWorks Simulation?**

Fast learning curve. Intuitive interface allows even a novice user, with the right background, to effectively run a straightforward analysis, by generating a mesh and applying loads and constraints quickly.

**What do you dislike about SolidWorks Simulation?**

Unfortunately, this list is a very long. In my opinion the software is underdeveloped in many ways. I would rate it "fair" or "mediocre" when using it as a tool for basic analysis only (not more than a few parts, mostly linear analysis with maybe a bit of semi-linear contacts and some geometric nonlinearity). It gets worse if you, or someone in your organisation, actually believed the marketing and expects the software to be suitable for analyses featuring the advertised capabilities. Much worse. You may be able to analyse a shell, to use cyclic symmetry, or to considere geometric nonleanearity. But don't expect to combine any of those features in one analysis. If you're attempting plasticity or hyperelasticity, you should hire a priest to pray for the solver to converge. Don't expect the solver to run on more than one CPU core. If you plan to postprocess a larger problem, cancel your other appointments for the day. Don't contact customer support, it's a waste of time. And if you ever find yourself analysing composites with this software, please don't despair: life is too precious to lose and there is better software out there!

SolidWorks Simulation is user friendly and has powerful 3D CAD design capabilities. Time is saved as the products are made at a quicker rate. Before doing physical testing, designs can be subjected to real world conditions to ensure the quality and efficiency of the product. I can check the diameter, radius, displacement, add colors to the product, view a 3D look etc.

**What do you dislike about SolidWorks Simulation?**

I have undergone training to learn this software where I was taught amazing features but some of them are very complex, for that I need to watch videos again and again to work thereafter. Hence, it requires a lot of time and practice to master these features.

**Recommendations to others considering SolidWorks Simulation:**

I think this is the best software to get a visualization of your product before the physical testing which saves both time and money and ensures quality. Although you have to practice a lot to be professional in the features but that's worth it.

**What problems is SolidWorks Simulation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has increased my productivity due to its lifelike visualization and a number of flexible and specialized tools that let me come up with designs in a quicker and more efficient manner.

  ### 35. An easy-to-use platform that generates advanced simulations

**What do you like best about SolidWorks Simulation?**

Solidworks simulation takes very complex computational scenarios and turns them into easy-to-perform, step-by-step sequences. It makes common requirements (such as drop-tests) almost as easy as one click. It is intuitive enough that it is possible to see the results of different scenarios very quickly – for example, if I want to change the height of a drop-test, I can do so usually by editing a single parameter and running the simulation again.

**What do you dislike about SolidWorks Simulation?**

Simulation is a CPU-hungry game, but increased cloud integration will solve this within a few years. Currently, running fairly simple simulations means that my computer is unusable for at least an hour. Pushing these operations to the cloud would enable me to gain back that time.

**What problems is SolidWorks Simulation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We simulate everything from simple drop and stress tests to thermal conductivity and ventilation.

  ### 36. Best software for doing analysis and simulation

**Reviewed by:** Nikhil G. | Nikhil Gupta, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2019

**What do you like best about SolidWorks Simulation?**

The best thing I like about SolidWorks Simulation is that it enables the possibility to test assemblies. It becomes easier to understand the behavior of parts during different loading types in an assembly. This saves both time and efforts. SolidWorks Simulation offers several capabilities like optimization analysis, thermal stress analysis, frequency and heat transfer analysis etc and includes solid continuum elements and curved surface shell elements which makes the inspection easy.

**What do you dislike about SolidWorks Simulation?**

I have not found any significant issue with this software. It is very well developed to help you in your design work.

**Recommendations to others considering SolidWorks Simulation:**

I think this is the best design tool for simulation which is very efficient and improves accuracy. It offers a wide capabilities to do several types of analysis and ensures product quality. You may undergo training to gain more knowledge to utilize all the tools available.

**What problems is SolidWorks Simulation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With SolidWorks Simulation, I have been able to use adaptive methods to improve accuracy of the results and apply symmetry restraints to analyse a quarter of the original model. I have done static analysis to identify stresses caused by static loading and thermal analysis to identify heat flow through a model. The analysis shows critical areas and based on the results, I can strengthen unsafe regions and remove material from over designed ones.

  ### 37. Most efficient simulation software

**What do you like best about SolidWorks Simulation?**

SolidWorks Simulation lets me test the CAD models virtually to predict a product's real world physical behavior. I can transform my ideas into reality anddo not have to wait for the physical testing to check if the product will perform properly hence reduces physical testing costs and time. It also reduces prototyping and raises the quality of product.

**What do you dislike about SolidWorks Simulation?**

I have been using this software for years now and did not have any concern. It is a bit complex to understand all the tools in the beginning but once you get to learn about this, you start admiring it.

**Recommendations to others considering SolidWorks Simulation:**

I highly recommend this software to every design and product engineer or someone who wants to do fluid, finite element, linear, non linear analysis. It is the best software to do simulation, virtually testing new ideas and gives accurate results.

**What problems is SolidWorks Simulation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With SolidWorks Simulation, I do the linear, non linear, dynamic and static analysis which increases the product quality. I test it virtually, evaluate the performance and make the changes then and there which reduces time and money. It enables to optimize the design and determine product durability, frequencies, buckling instabilities etc. I evaluate the designs efficiently with this software.

  ### 38. It is an excellent computer engineering tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Miguel C. | Ingeniero, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2019

**What do you like best about SolidWorks Simulation?**

SOLIDWORKS Simulation is easy-to-use structural analysis tools, I really like this interface because it helps companies obtain finite element analysis (FEA) to predict the actual physical behavior of a product through virtual CAD model testing. It also has high capacities for linear and nonlinear static analysis, and dynamic analysis.

**What do you dislike about SolidWorks Simulation?**

SolidWorks has less strength in fatigue analysis. It only has the stress life approach and will calculate the fatigue life based on the SN curve entered. The other problem is: it has only a limit of 5000 data points. You cannot enter more than 5000 data entry curves for any analysis. It can be the big problem. They must introduce a bolt connector, without penetration / penetration contact, interference adjustment contact, sliding contact in the dynamic analysis. These contacts are really creating software inferiority compared to other tools like ANSYS and ABAQUS. The other thing I don't like about this software is that they don't have a frequency response function tool. If you want to correlate your experimental data with the simulation tool, you must have a frequency response function, since FRF is the first measured amount of the experiment. Try not to confuse FRF with harmonic response analysis. FRF is the output to input ratio in the frequency domain, while the harmonic analysis in SolidWorks is only the maximum amplitude response in the excitation frequency range.

**Recommendations to others considering SolidWorks Simulation:**

It is an excellent software for engineering, if you want an ally is your industrial processes do not hesitate to use Soliworks

**What problems is SolidWorks Simulation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Soliwords Simulation is integrated with CAD, so it is relatively easier to use. If you understand the theory of the problem you want to solve: the results you get from SolidWorks simulation tools are equivalent to other tools such as NASTRAN, ANSYS, etc. I am the process engineer and I use these tools for vibration analysis. , fatigue analysis and static analysis. I solved the real vibration problem using this tool. I am an expert in the theory of vibration analysis, so for me the use of SolidWorks is easier and requires less time than other software such as ANSYS, ABAQUS and NASTRAN. I have used ANSYS and NASTRAN in the past, but I really like SolidWorks Simulation because you can easily edit the geometry in SolidWorks. Basically, the only weak part of SolidWorks Simulation is mesh optimization, it doesn't have much, since it only uses the tetrahedral element for solid mesh, but you should keep in mind that mesh optimization is not just the thing through from which you get the results. to wish. You must fully understand the problem and only use simulation as a solver. For example, you first need the bibliographic survey and define the problem and the data related to the problem.

  ### 48. Over the spectations

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victor E. | Técnico en Departamento I+D, Logistics and Supply Chain, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2018

**What do you like best about SolidWorks Simulation?**

It is a brilliant tool to make strength tests, and multiple kind of exercises to the assemblies and pieces modeled. When I started using it, I though that only few options were able to do the test, however it has overpass my spectations and knowledge. It has been carefully developed by Solid works team.

**What do you dislike about SolidWorks Simulation?**

Actually there are anything that I really dislike, but if I would had to say ones, it would be great that the simulation xpress application could be used with assemblies. In my solidworks version it is not possible to do test with more than one piece, and it is useful in many cases.

**Recommendations to others considering SolidWorks Simulation:**

This application is really useful if you have a good team to manage it.

**What problems is SolidWorks Simulation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We make a lot of test of our new components. First of all, we designed and model the pieces. Then, we assembled them, and finally we test them all together. Now we are able to predict the final result of a component before manufacturing.

  ### 49. excellent software for the design and simulation of mechanical elements.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Felix Alejandro V. | Supervisor en mantenimiento, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2018

**What do you like best about SolidWorks Simulation?**

The functions you have are very good. Its difference with other software is excellent, this software allows me to create pieces and also simulate the behavior of them.

This software allows me to verify how the piece would behave in the tangible field, in addition to differentiating various materials with which I can design the pieces according to the functions that it will fulfill.

**What do you dislike about SolidWorks Simulation?**

as it is a complex software it has functions that confuse but, for its use, a much more advanced knowledge is required than the necessary one to operate other less complex sofware.

**Recommendations to others considering SolidWorks Simulation:**

mainly that they are trained very, very well since this software is good and at the same time a little complex because it has different functions to other similar sofwares.

**What problems is SolidWorks Simulation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving time and money are the main ways that this product solves problems. allows you to simulate any piece that is built without the need to build the piece. This makes the work much easier because it does not take much budget to design a piece that will later fulfill a function.

  ### 50. A FEA tool for analyzing structures or products modeled in SolidWorks

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bin C. | Graduate Research Assistant, Civil Engineering, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 13, 2018

**What do you like best about SolidWorks Simulation?**

It integrates with SolidWorks modeling and the numerical analysis is similar to other commonly-used commercial programs such as ANSYS, SAP2000 and Abaqus. More options can be selected from analyzing industry products.

**What do you dislike about SolidWorks Simulation?**

To conduct a nonlinear analysis, an education-version user may need to upgrade to the premium version of SolidWorks since the education license does not include this package. Simple static analysis works fine with the education license.

**Recommendations to others considering SolidWorks Simulation:**

A powerful and sophisticated simulation tool for linear and nonlinear analysis of civil structures and mechanical products. It gives reasonable results of stresses, deformation, thermal transfer for designed components and/or systems.

**What problems is SolidWorks Simulation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A performance analysis of a concrete structure under a long-term period of loading. The education license enables to perform fatigue analysis on a designed concrete component under desired loads. It allows time-history load input and gives predictions on the remaining life of the concrete component.
