SmartConnect’s intuitive integration tools make it easy to set up integrations using drag-and-drop mapping across multiple data sources. I especially like the Excel import feature, which lets me run integrations from Excel into SmartConnect; it genuinely saves me hours each week. The integration between Microsoft Dynamics GP, Business Central, and SmartConnect feels seamless in day-to-day use. Beyond Excel imports, the scheduling feature is a lifesaver for setting up automatic weekly data movement with minimal effort. Non-technical users have had a harder time learning and using SmartConnect, particularly for complex integrations, because it requires more technical knowledge of eConnect and Microsoft Dynamics. Troubleshooting errors can be difficult, especially when finding the problem fields or managing failed scheduled tasks. Improper installation and setup can cause performance issues, errors, and configurations that result in high memory consumption or data loss. What problems is SmartConnect solving and how is that benefiting you? In a recent project at our company, we faced a significant challenge involving manual data entry into our Microsoft Dynamics solution. The sales team was tasked with tracking customer interactions, purchase orders, and inventory levels, which involved transferring data from Excel spreadsheets into Dynamics. This process was not only time-consuming but also error-prone, leading to inconsistencies in our reports. To address this challenge, we implemented SmartConnect, which provided a seamless integration between our Excel files and Microsoft Dynamics. With SmartConnect, our sales team can now directly pull data from Excel and transfer it into the Dynamics system without manual entry. Previously, the team spent approximately 30 hours per week on this data entry. After integrating SmartConnect, the time required for this task was dramatically reduced to just 3 hours per week. This represented a reduction of 27 hours of manual data entry each week. As a result, our sales team was able to focus more on their core activities, such as engaging with customers and closing deals, ultimately improving productivity and efficiency across the board.
