Really useful device for developers **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2024 **What do you like best about SmartCAM?** I really like that usign SmartCAM one can easily import CAD data, draw geometry and create automated toolpath operations. **What do you dislike about SmartCAM?** Little bit difficult or tricky to get onboarded onto the utility for beginners. **What problems is SmartCAM solving and how is that benefiting you?** With the help of SmartCAM import my necessary CAD data, draw geometry around it and create automated toolpath operations which is very much necessary in my use. ### 2. It was revived as SmarcamCNC but at that point we had already committed to NX (or UGS at the time) **What problems is SmartCAM solving and how is that benefiting you?** We used it for CNC turning. It was good but we needed something that had more customizable programming for turning tough materials ### 3. The interface could use a bit of improvement but its a tool, for CAD programming. It just needs a touch. **What do you dislike about SmartCAM?** I did not face any problems in using SmartCAM. The effort needed of CAD programming workflow has been reduced when using CAD programming. **What problems is SmartCAM solving and how is that benefiting you?** The problem that SmartCAM addresses is the complexity of software that typically requires training. Thanks to its user interface my business has benefited greatly as even employees, without expertise can easily use the software. ### 4. The last version I used was 12. I loved how easy Freeform was to do 3D milling. I can only imagine it got better. **What do you dislike about SmartCAM?** There was nothing I disliked. I did not use the CAD part of it, I only imported solids. **Recommendations to others considering SmartCAM:** Can't really give any now as I have not used it in so long. **What problems is SmartCAM solving and how is that benefiting you?** None right now. Every operator of CNC wants to have sign on path. This program allows you to do many paths in many ways. Program runs also so fast. They are giving you a trial and after that price cost is very cheap. They put on their website a price but you can talk with them and ask them discount. They surely help you. **What do you dislike about SmartCAM?** Interface needs to be more technologic. Maybe they could use bigger buttons and different colors. Using this program is not easy. You need to be familiar with CAM Programs. **Recommendations to others considering SmartCAM:** It's cheap. If you're looking a different product and tired of spending too much money just for brand name. It's the right address. You can use this review or you can call them to take information. What you gonna use mostly is so close to you. Very easy to learn. They're really developing themselves. In few years we can see them one of the top of CAD/CAM Softwares. **What do you dislike about SmartCAM?** It's still a little bit oldfashioned. They need to improve interface. It's useful but it still needs to catch design of today's CAD programs. **Recommendations to others considering SmartCAM:** You can try this program.
